First Team Honda

I recently asked several dealerships that work with the USAA Car Buying Program to call me. First Team Honda called me the second day and I told them about a bad experience I had with First Team Kia they assured me the experience wouldn’t be the same. That same day I bought a vehicle from Hall Mazda they were excellent. It is almost a week later and First Team Honda is still calling me back. A woman named Stacey just called and I told her I bought a vehicle already and I am very sick so please stop calling me. She replied with «rude» and hung up. Glad I didn’t purchase a vehicle with them who knows how I would’ve been treated had something gone wrong.

This is the best dealership to buy Honda vehicles! Other places advertise and promote why they are better, but it’s only hype. First Team Honda has the best people and price. Ask for Mike Powers, he’s the gold standard of sales professionals!

I bought my new car from First Team Honda. I was very pleased with that experience, except for the lady in the finance department. She would not take «no» for answer for some options she was trying to sell me. I nearly got up and left as she definitely elevated my blood pressure. I gave her a bad review when Honda called, so I felt vindicated.
The service department totally sucks. First of all, the wait is just too long all the time, even for just a simple tire rotation. Secondly, for two years now they have consistently forgotten to credit my rewards account until this past time, six months ago, when I brought it to their attention, so they credited my account retroactively.
In short, the service department rates poor on time management, and high on sloppiness, and I give them a zero for never including a complimentary car wash that most service departments provide after any work. Take your business somewhere else!

Fantastic dealership, D.A. Young is a very helpful, and honest salesman and a pleasure to work with. Their service department is also first rate, especially Diane Johnson who does everything she can to make your service visit a smooth and easy experience. After searching all over Hampton Roads for a car… we decided that we wanted to get a Honda Pilot. The only problem was we did not like any of the dealerships that were selling them. We went to around 6. We finally heard about this location. It is a far drive for us, we gave it a shot. So glad we did. Our sales associate D.A. was amazing! We told him what we were interested in and within 5 minutes he had them pulled around front for us to test drive (which was very impressive compared to all the other dealerships). He found us a perfect Honda Pilot in our price range. We went inside to work out the deal. He was professional and honest. We had no problem buying a car from him. The other team members that assisted that day were also very nice. Everything went smoothly and we drove away in our new car. We returned recently for an oil change. We were in and out in a hour and the service was great. The best part about buying from First Team is the warranty. It is a Non-​Factory LIFETIME warranty with every New and most Pre-​Owned vehicles. Your original Manufacturer’s Powertrain Warranty is covered for as long as you own the vehicle no matter how many miles you drive or how long you own it. The warranty is good nationwide. I highly recommend this dealership!

The customer service in the Service Department was horrible. The Techs that actually work on the vehicles appear courteous, however the ladies working when you first come in the door are not customer service oriented. It was one of the most unpleasant customer experiences that I have encountered in some time.
I did need my vehicle repaired, but I promptly brought it to another dealership because of the lack of customer service. They are not friendly, courteous and show lack of any sort of sincerity regarding providing assistance. I was simply saddened by this type of treatment considering they are the closest dealer to me.

I have been bringing my van here since we moved to this area. I get mixed service everytime. Some of the service people up front who check you in have been there awhile. Some will print out coupons for you. Others won’t. Sometimes it’s ready quickly, sometimes not. One time I was told the next day but it was ready in 2 hours.
So the inconsistencies is what led me to give 3 stars. We have had some excellent experiences here and will continue to go back. Last week a guy helped dh install a new light bulb b/​c it was difficult… he didn’t charge us. He was just being nice.
They have also reorganized the waiting area with tables… hopefully the kid area will get a redo as well. Overall, we like it here and they do a great job on our Honda’s. But occasionally they do have bad quote times, and miscommunication when a mechanic calls but the front people know nothing about it… so it’s not perfect.
