Very nice atmosphere. The waiter was very friendly and helpful and most importantly the food was awesome. I hadn’t had actual Turkish food since leaving Germany in 2008 and I must say I was missing it alot. Definitely worth giving this place a visit!

As regular at Kervan Kebab House I usually get the Hummus Chicken Wrap. However based off the suggestion of fellow patron of Kervan I tried the Iskender Plate & let me tell you this was a great lunch plate! Not only did I receive my food in a timely fashion the Iskender Plate was very good! The beef had the appropriate amount of seasoning & yogurt added a delightful cool contrast to warm beef with pita bread and tomato sauce! The the rice & banana pepper really completed this great lunch choice! If you’re in the Greenbriar area I would definitely give Kervan a try! You won’t be disappointed!!!

My husband and I have had a hankering for Doner since we left LA and our beloved«Berlin’s Doner». We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the meat at Kervan. Not quite as amazing as LA, but definitely will quite our cravings till we visit. Very cute little place with a cute little Turkish mini grocery store. We’ll definitely be returning!

Very delicious beef gyro! Staff was very nice as well. Unfortunately the only side available was potato chips. Would have preferred some rice, or something else.

The food was excellent! The restaurant itself is small, and you do order at a counter like many have said, but if you eat in your food will be brought right to your table. I had the borek(spinach pie) as an appetizer and the izkender plate for my dinner and they were both amazing, full of flavor and savory. The yogurt sauces that came with both were the perfect compliments. Honestly the best Turkish food I have had since I was in Mersin! The only slightly low note was the baklava, it was a little dry and the filling was a little lacking but over all it was still good. I definetly recommend this establishment to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food!

The first time I came here I just got a sandwich and chips to go and really didn’t experience all this place had to offer until I had the opportunity to attend an unofficial Unilocal event(UYE) with Rosalind, Andrew, Kimberly, Xerxes, and Emily recently. You can really feel that is a family owned restaurant because the atmosphere really gives off the aura of being invited to your friend’s house for dinner. You know how like when your friend’s mom and dad explains what everything is before you eat it, and then you take a bite of it and although it’s different than what you’re used to, it’s still terrific. I got the Borek spinach pastry, and it was an excellent start before the main entrée. Xerxes also bought a plate of hummus for the table, and of course that was good as well(sidebar: hummus is probably one of my favorite appetizers.) The Kofte Meatball plate with white rice and salad was delicious. The meatballs were juicy and tender; not dry at all, and the white rice had a nice consistency to it(not too gooey and too stiff). All in all two thumbs up from me, I would say that this UYE was a success and I will definitely be back to the Kervan Kebab House.

My wife and I tried this restaurant on a Monday evening. The woman and man operating Kervan were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The small restaurant was clean and inviting, I appreciated the spacious tables which gave us plenty of room. My wife ordered the iskender platter and I had the doner platter, we ordered the borek(spinach pie) appetizer as well. I also got a bowl for the salad bar, there aren’t a lot of items on the bar but everything was fresh and tasty. Our borek appetizer was quickly delivered to the table, it was fabulous. So tender and delicious. Our entrees were good but not outstanding. The iskender had a nice tomato sauce and was served with yogurt sauce as well so it had a delicious flavor but unfortunately the dish was not very hot and the meat was pretty tough. My wife gave up on the dish, she said she enjoyed the flavor but just got tired of chewing. The meat on my doner platter was also not tender and was not served with any sauce so it was pretty dry as well. I asked for some yogurt sauce which they gave me, it improved the dish enough for me to finish it. In my opinion the service was fast and friendly but the food was just okay. If someone invited me to meet at Kervan Kebab House for a meal I would do so but I doubt I will choose it on my own anytime soon. There are just better choices for Mediterranean food in this area.

As a resident of Chesapeake Im ashamed to say that I just experienced this place. This has been my longest standing bookmark on Unilocal and I will surely return often. A few things to note, although it is restaurant, it isnt in the traditional sense. You go to the counter to order and pick up your cup to get your own beverage. If seated they will bring you your food and take away your trash. For the salad bar the price for a small is $ 3 and large is $ 5, however there is only one size bowl in front of the bar, the large size, the small salad bowls are behind the counter so you must ask for that one to be charged accordingly. Also there are no salad bar refills, so get what you want while there or lose your chance for more. Skip the iceberg and get the Kale, it has been slightly cooked and seasoned. Now onto the highlight of my meal, the iskender plate, the visual is deceiving, there are soft cut up pieces of pita underneath the tender meat, topped with a non spicy tomato sauce and a large side of yogurt sauce for extra dipping. The rice must have been cooked in butter, its the softest I’ve ever had. My Overall experience was wonderful with only a few small misunderstandings. I will return!

I utilized Unilocal because I was staying in a hotel and didn’t see anything near by. I am so glad I did. I ordered at 7:30 before I left hotel and food was ready within a minute or two of arrival.(1.5 miles away from hotel). I had the hummus and the chicken kabob platter with baklava for dessert. The hummus was not my favorite, but the kabob was fantastic! It came with grilled tomato and onion, delicious rice, and a little salad. The portion was very generous. I could only eat one of the 2 kabobs. My favorite item was the baklava. This stuff was the real deal. One of the best I have ever tasted. All in all a very delicious, satisfying meal. They also have a little market with all kinds of interesting looking items. Enjoy!

I was recommended this place by a friend, but wasn’t that impressed with it. The cashier is evidently also the waitress, or something. I feel jipped tipping her before the service, which wasn’t that great. She forgot my drink until I asked her for it when I was halfway through my hummus appetizer. For a refill I had to walk back up to the counter. Hummus had a nice taste but there were no spices on it, the freshly grilled pita was delicious. The menu is quite small, I started easy with chicken kebab. In the picture on the menu it had peppers between the chicken bits; as you can see in the photo, it didn’t come with that. I did get a freshly grilled tomato and onion slice(one each). I wasn’t thrilled by the chicken flavor, and I got grossed out when there was fat and gristle on some of the parts. The rice seemed like it had a lot of butter in it, or something, it tasted sweet.

Such a great place to go for Turkish meals! It’s a smaller place and they have a small section on Turkish groceries as well. We ordered the chicken shish kebab and a plate meal. Both were really good and had great flavor! We didn’t have to wait very long for the meal to be made and you could tell that they made it to order and wasn’t just sitting around in a warmer. We will definitely go back!

Really good place with fantastic food and great prices. The hummus is the best Ive had so far, thicker than other places. The beef doner with yogurt tasted fresh and its size is more than enough. Definetly will come back.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and hubs and I decided to eat there one afternoon. The woman attending the register was very accommodating and answered all of our questions about the menu. Hubs got the beef doner sandwich and I got the chicken kebab sandwich. Each entrée came with a bag of Utz chips. My sandwich was very good. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. We will definitely be back to eat here again.

I would like to give this restaurant 5 stars; however, I went in at lunch time with my name badge and everything on as I was on my lunch break and it took 25 minutes to receive my chicken shish kabob. I believe they prepare the food fresh, which is marvelous… but I wish I had known what was taking so long. Perhaps a little communication would have been great. This was my first time and I had NO idea why it was taking so long since it wasn’t packed or anything. On the the great stuff… They were still customer service friendly, which I appreciate. The chicken shish kabob was delicious!!! I thought I would be disappointed after waiting so long, but I was not! I ended up having to take it to go, but the flavor is tender and juicy fabulous. The next time I return, I’m hoping to raise this to a 5-star review!!!

I was on my way to subway next door and saw a picture of a Gyro in the window, so I made a detour to this place instead. Fingers crossed I hope I didn’t make a wrong last minute decision. Walking into this establishment, you instantly know you are in for a treat with the smell of good aroma, a small pantry of food items to purchase, and the Turkish music playing in the background. Very clean and low key. Since I was in for the Gyro I went straight to the menu board looking for it. Menu board is very easy to understand and not a lot of things to choose from which is great for me.(Too many choices just confuses me even the more hahaha!) Awww found the sandwich-beef Dono! Very tasty, well flavored, simple, light and just a delight! Meat was thinly cut and tender. I enjoyed every bit of the sandwich. So glad I gave this place a try. Will be back to try out so more tasty food!

What a great find. I had heard of a Turkish place near work but until this week haven’t been able to get over here. Fortunately I was having lunch with a different co-worker than I normally do and we ended up trying this gem out. I ordered the Iskender Plate which is beef doner served on top of a chopped pita bread smothered with tomato sauce and a side of white rice. My co-worker had the Chicken Shish Kebab Plate which is 2 kebabs, white rice and a garden salad. The wait was about 10 minutes for our food to be prepared and we checked out the imported food items they had in their store. Once the food arrived it looked and smelled as delicious as it tasted. Portions were perfect and the price was $ 10 each after including the drink. All in all a great meal and I’m looking forward to stopping in again soon and trying out some more of the menu.

I ordered the chicken shish kebab plate… came with rice, small salad, and 2 kebabs. Also since I dined in I received the cutest mug of hot Turkish tea. The meal is prepared to order so it took a little longer than it would at a larger chain restaurant. However, it was well worth having hot, fresh, perfectly cooked food. The place is tiny but I love that sort of charm. The gentleman who runs the place is cordial and very nice. The food menu is small and prices are reasonable. I will be back… that hummus is calling my name!

It’s been a long while since I’ve been here. Last time was when the restaurant was called Pasha. I remember the food being good then. I like trying new things so I ordered the Iskender Plate. My son loves Greek gyros so he got the Beef Doner. Both were good but my son liked mine better. The red sauce mixed in with the beef, chopped pita, rice, with the juice from the hot pepper sprinkled all over was a great combination. For dessert I really wanted to try the baklava but instead had the rice pudding. It was a tad soupy. Not sure if it was just made and still needed more time to set. Good portion size for 2 people. Next time I will not leave without any baklava.
