I’ve was a client of R&K for over 2 years. Today, I will not longer be a client. This is why: My hair cut & color always ran me about 80.00 sometimes a little more but not much, if I oped for a few highlights it was about 110.00. Today my hair cut and color with a few highlights cost me 180.00. With out notice, with out the stylist saying«today it will be more because I did X, Y, Z… or can I do X, Y, Z it is going to be extra» Also, recently, the stylist I see have been using has been«training» and having these«assistants» help her. Today the assistant did 80% of my hair. I feel that I pay for her level of expertise and got a stylist that was learning and paid MORE for it. When I complained, I was basically given and«oh, well» response at the front desk. They did write her prices down for me but was it states«starting at $$» it was not helpful. My color and cut were nice, so the quality of workman ship is not the issue. My issues are: 1. being pawned off to another stylist 2. not being told the price was going to be MUCH more than what I usually pay. 3. Poor attitude of front desk. I will not be going back. Price jacking is not the way to win clients over, ever.

I’ve been going here for years because their staff can actually cut curly hair correctly(Xenia and Kristy, specifically) and they are amazing. The staff is always friendly and super polite and it’s a great atmosphere. Yes, it can be pricy depending on what you get(usually $ 50 for me for wash, cut and tip) but to me it’s worth it since I’ve had terrible results with $ 12 haircuts. I absolutely trust this salon whole heartedly because they alway do an excellent job!

Nice waiting area, and salon feels upscale. They offer you a drink while you’re waiting. Ask for Rebecca, one of their top stylists. You get what you pay for, and she’s not cheap but knows what she’s doing.

My daughter went for a haircut this past weekend. She paid $ 110 for a haircut. That’s WAY too expensive for what she got. I’ve seen her get haircuts for quite a bit less that ended up looking prettier than her ‘new’ haircut.

I finally found a place where people can cut hair in Virginia. Since we moved here 7 years ago, I tried several places I usually ended up looking like Loretta Lynn from the70s or80s when I walked out. Now everyone in my family goes to r&K Mt Pleasant. I have 3 sons who are very particular about their hair. Everyone has their own favorite stylist Lauren, Xena, and Allison are our favorites. One son did have a bad haircut here, but it wasn’t with his regular stylist. Find someone you like and stick with them they get to know you and your hair! The previous reviewer must have had bad luck I guess. Or maybe has nasty hair no one can work with. LOL

I did something on a whim. I walked into this place to get a trim without an appointment. I should know better. When you do this you get the person with no appointments.(A red flag.) They also usually have the least experience. Surprisingly, the trim was fine. The price was much less than I pay at my usual salon, so why not try her again for my next trim? Lightening never strikes twice. The second cut was a mess and I told the girl as much while I was sitting in the chair. When I sat down I asked her to cut bangs. When she was done, I had no bangs. I had these stragglers on the sides of my face, nothing on my forehead, where bangs reside. I also told her I would never come back. Too often I think consumers leave a place without telling them when the experience was bad. Businesses need to know. Whether they care or do anything about it is another story.
