History

Established in 1964.

Simmons was established by Ronald «Moose» Simmons in 1964. Brad Allegood was Moose’s helper in the early days and soon Moose was ready to retire. Brad had a small family of his own to feed and bought the one truck and Simmons name when moose retired in 1981. Since then Brad has grown the company from his moms garage to the location we are at today. Brad has three sons who grew from helpers to mechanics and now help operate the growing business. His oldest son Beau now oversees the day to day operations and his two other sons Kyle and Jason continue working in the field as they grow to there future positions.

I remember cleaning copper fittings and picking up trash like it was yesterday as summertime help back in 1996. Dad never let us take anything for granted and wanted us to see all aspects of the business. I continued to work part time while I graduated from Kempsville High School and Old Dominion University. After graduation I became a lead installer and soon got my Master HVAC and Master Gas Fitter certification. After 10 years of working with my hands (which I still love to this day) I started shadowing my dad until I ultimately took over his role overseeing the day to day operations. I continue to learn everyday from the wealth of knowledge (over 400 years of experience last I counted) here at Simmons.
