Stony Hill Gardens

We ended up at Stony Hill Gardens for strawberry picking by chance, only because the other farm we wanted to go to in Sussex County had early hours (7am-​2pm), and the u-​pick here is from 10am-5:00pm! We went to the Stony Hill Market first because we thought it was the u-​pick, but they informed us the farm was three miles down the road.
On our way, we passed what I thought was the farm and it was borderline unreasonably packed — at least based on the parking lot. Then I realized it was Alstede Farms and kept it moving. As a grown ass woman with her grown ass man partner, the last thing we want to deal with while leisurely picking fruit are a hundred families, their screaming babies, and their kids who are probably ripping out whole strawberry plants. No, thanks.
The Stony Hills Garden is just off the road, through a brief little patch of woods. They have a large garden/​plant center and greenhouse with a lot of beautiful plants. When we went to the u-​pick, there were plenty of bushes and room to pick freely. It was around 2:00pm, not too hot, and perfect. It picked up a bit in the next hour or so, but it never felt hectic like Alstede Farms felt just by driving.
Can’t wait to go back in the fall for apples, great farm.
