After driving by this place several times, I decided to finally check it out. It is, in fact, similar to a Claire’s store… on steroids! From purses to jewelry of all kinds, sun glasses, scarves, hats and even hair pieces, this place can overwhelm a person with its five or six aisles of accessories. Whether you need affordable costume jewelry for Halloween or just something trendy and inexpensive, this place will have it. After winding through all of the aisles, I left empty handed. If you’re looking for something very specific, trendy(likely off-brand) and super inexpensive, give ABC Trading Co. a try.

If you need cheap jewelry or knock off designer purses to complete that Halloween costume or party outfit, ABC Trading Wholesale & Retail Co is the place to go. I’ve not been in quite a while, but like I said, if you want paste jewelry that’s big, flashy and cheap, this is your store. Also, if you want designer purse knock offs, scarves, blinged out hair clips, etc, this is your store. All of the stores I’ve been to are owned by Asian ladies with hawk-eyes(no shoplifter will ever get away with it here), but they speak fairly good, understandable English, and they’re helpful if you’re looking for something in particular(if you come into with no idea what you want, prepare to wander). My main purchases have been costume jewelry(heavy on the gaudy side) for Halloween costumes or dance costumes, but I’ve seen lots of people purchasing things for everyday use — most of their stuff is just a little too shiny for my taste. It’s a good store for specific purposes, but I since I would prefer to spend more for the real thing less often than less for a knock more often, I don’t visit ABC Trading Co too often, myself. But that’s just my personal preference.

Shelving here has a low profile, so upon entering, you can see the signs to know where you want to go for your shopping. This is quite helpful, because the joint is HUGE and can be overwhelming! I wandered around a little and found some Christmas and birthday gifts. Then found a great wallet to replace my 1994 falling-apart wallet. .. and it was big enough! There’s jewelry and hair bows/headbands for infants and children, other hair accessories, jewelry sets, seasonal jewelry, sterling silver, big jewelry, scarves, hats, gloves, purses, coin purses, lipstick holders. There are little trays at the front door. Snag one to hold your purchases and go on your shopping way! P. S. I reviewed the wrong ABC Trading Co. previously, so I removed that review and this is the REALABC Trading Co. I went to. Sorry for any confusion.

When I walk into this place, I feel like I’m entering a hall of fame for handbags and jewelry. There’s a quiet sacredness to the rows and rows and… rows of accessories. Now I have to admit, about half of this stuff is quite tacky, but they have such a fabulous selection of Swarovski, stunning pendants, and cheap sunglasses($ 4.95) that I’ll overlook this. One of the truly remarkable pendants I spotted was made of an abalone shell(my favorite), and there was a pair of clear crystal earrings with wire vines coiled around them that also caught my eye. Prices here vary; you can find a good deal but there are expensive pieces as well. This is a great place to come for a gift, or for more elaborate jewelry if you have a special event to go to. But for more simple, stream-lined jewelry, I’d head elsewhere.

All bellydancers should give this place a look. Unlike Hong’s, ABC carries a selection of fringed triangular scarves that are perfect for using as hipscarves for class. For example, they have the same crocheted sequin scarves that some of the big bellydance vendors carry, but for $ 15 instead of $ 30. If you’re going to try bellydancing for the first time, it’s worth dropping by and picking up a scarf. They have a small but inexpensive collection of clip-on hairpieces. Basically the same kind of stuff you can get at Claire’s, but cheaper. Obviously if you want a «real» wig, go to a wig shop, but if you just want a pretty ponytail for a show, it’s convenient. They have about half a dozen styles of hairpieces in about half a dozen colors. The jewelry is also similar quality to Claire’s, so good place to get cheap sparkly jewelry to coordinate with cabaret-style costumes. But they have a way larger selection. Also, in the front right corner of the store, they have a small selection of ethnic-looking styles, including cowrie shells that would work well with Tribal costumes. They also have all the knock-off purses and stuff, but at first glance they weren’t at all convincing. Anyway, an awesome resource for bellydancers in the area. Probably similarly useful for prom, pageants, ballroom dancing, any situation calling for sparkly jewelry.
