Went here today for lunch since I was craving sushi. Nothing spectacular but not awful. You get a good amount of food for the price… but I wasn’t overly impressed. The shrimp tempura and California rolls were good but the spider roll wasn’t very eatable. It was so deep fried that upon inspection there was barely any actual crab in it. Did not finish that roll. I will try some other choices if I go back.

Had sushi craving and walked out of the prior sushi place. Heard great things about this somewhat new place and was very pleased. Prices are reasonable, and the service was great. Ordered 6 rolls and came with complementary miso soup(excellent) and salad with orange dressing. Beer was cold and service was great. Dinner for 4 was 66 bucks and worth every penny. Two beers, 6 rolls and appetizer plus miso soup and salad. All food tastes great! Only complaint was that it was a tad cold inside, several diners had jackets on and I kind of wish I did. I will be back.

I have been here several times and each time is better than the last. The tamago and vegetable sushi is great. They have great complimentary soup and salad! I highly recommend it!

Tried this place with my aunt who had never tried sushi before. We sat at the bar and order 2 different styles of sushi. She loved up. The place was really nice. Staff was very friendly and loved the fact that we could watch them make the sushi and watch them cook! Very cool. Please was clean and put together. We will be back!

Both Kampai locations(here and in Central West End) are reliable places for sushi rolls. I don’t have a super refined palate when it comes to sushi/sashimi, so I can’t speak much to the quality of the fish except that it is maybe not as fresh as in California, but still satisfying enough. Kampai has an extensive list of sushi rolls, ranging from fish-heavy rolls to fried, creamier rolls. I’m impressed by how creative they are with some of the combinations. It’s fun to try out different ones to see what you like. My favorites are the Sunset roll, the Rainbow roll, and the Geisha roll.

Good food but terrible service. The waitress would not even refill our drinks. We had to wave down the waitress for everything we needed. I would not recommend this.

I have never been disappointed coming here. My first experience was going to the St Louis location where we went with friends. I was excited to see they opened one in Chesterfield. The sushi is fresh and the service is friendly and very helpful. I plan on sharing this restaurant with any of my friends who love Sushi.

Mmmm and mmm again. Authentic & yummy! Chef & owner Dave knows what he’s doing! Service is quick, everyone is friendly & the atmosphere is nice. The spicy scallop roll was amazing! I also had the joy roll, eel and avocado roll, st louis roll, and the low carb roll. Great place, great food, great experience!

We’ve been to Yoshi, sapporo, Fiji… This place is the real deal. So good we came without a coupon. The owner makes all the rolls himself. Service was excellent. I especially loved the Spicy Scallops. To die for! We also had St Louis, Joy, low carb and eel & avocado rolls. All excellent. Highly recommend! (I’d take pictures, but we ate everything too fast).

Wasn’t especially happy with my visit. The tables were incredibly sticky, the bench on the far side was awkwardly short and the sushi was mediocre. There was way too much mayo on the sushi! Really hoping this place would of been better.

Im so glad i came here for dinner. If u love sashimi, this is the place to go. Fresh cut! Im surprised by the bad reviews because this is the freshest you’re gonna get. Generous with portions for decent price. Most sushi places ive been to like to hide their nasty fish in rolls with bunch of sauces. No bueno! Real sushi lovers know whats up. Definitely coming back!

Super yummy and great service. Went with three others and we all got the chef’s special, which was an AMAZING deal for $ 40 per person, especially given the quality seafood. A nice variety of salads and rolls and hot food, and some of the plates were actually beautiful. WAY too much food for me to handle but you can take home what you don’t finish(: highly recommended for the hungry.

First time for us. We really enjoyed everything. The server did a fantastic job making recommendations. The sunset roll was the best for us. We also had fancy and snow rolls. All were delicious!

The food and service was very good! I went here for lunch and ordered the Sushi Lovers Special — Sushi B with 6pc nigiri and spicy tuna rolls and it was delicious! I brought my mom with me, who is not a big sushi eater, and she ordered a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box Lunch Special that comes with California rolls. The chicken was very flavorful and she loved it. The food was good and the prices were reasonable.

Not as good as the original — but a great option out in west county. The food was as good as expected and the service was friendly and quick. All in all — it was good and we’ll be going back.

This was my first attempt at eating Sushi here in St. Louis. I found a place up in Chicago I liked, so I figured i would try one here. This place did not disappoint. They have some really spicy rolls, which is what I like. The location was decorated nicely, and the service was also good. If you like spicy, the Dragon roll is for you! The only thing that bummed me out is they were out of my favorite Japenese beer Hitachino Nest.

This place is pretty darn good. I have been to the one in the CWE, so I was looking forward to this second location. This place used to be Momoyama and got sold to the owners of the Kampai in CWE. They did a complete renovation with the interior and the food. The inside has completely changed into a cozy, warm setting with subtle classy details. I believe the menu is the same as the CWE location. We had their chirashi, udon noodle soup, and a couple of appetizers the chef threw in on the house – yay! I am used to seeing chirashi in a bowl of rice with fish scattered all over. Here, they really pay attention to detail and the plating is attractive. Our chirashi was served on a plate instead-never thought about this before, but the look definitely worked. Service was attentive and friendly. The udon broth was a little on the salty side but overall the rest of the food was fresh and super tasty. The grilled squid appetizer is delicious – I wanted to lick the sauce off the plate. And the bunny roll(crabmeat, fried shrimp, avocado wrapped in lettuce) is a unique and fresh alternative if you don’t like the usual rolls. I am definitely a fan of this place! One suggestion – the bathroom section is separated by this tacky curtain made of huge ornamental balls – I got bopped by some of the balls trying to go to the bathroom. How awkward. Please replace this with an actual curtain!

Spicy scallop, crunch, joy, & spider roll. They were very good. My wife’s favorite was the Joy Roll. Well made, tasty, and the new interior is nice. I look forward to coming back.
