Sears Roebuck and

This store is the pits along with the store in st louis county. They lie say they have what you want, only to bait & switch you. looking for a 12 volt jumper box, they said they had one, problem, the only one they have is used, back on shelf. I returned it last year for being junk. Was told Chesterfield had one, wrong, had the .com people verify they had one, yes they say, i drivr 80 miles round trip, they dont have it. I can see why there going out of bissness. To ALL STOCK HOLDERS SELL, AS im dumping 10,000 shares, next week, their price will fall.

One of the few places in town that carries Jenn-​Aire appliances. We needed a replacement for a downdraft range that died on New Years Eve and it didn’t take us too long to figure out that the only brand that makes a downdraft is Jenn-​Aire. So much for having choices.
Regardless, Sears had the one we wanted on display so we got to see it and check out the design and features. Jenn-​Aire has strict guidelines on what their distributors can do with pricing, so the price was the same at all of the different places. In fact, most of the places had similar terms too so it really boiled down to the helpfulness of the sales person (Janice, ask for her) at Sears and the fact that Sears was able to offer some differentiators based on their volume.
Had a major glitch with the delivery so we didn’t make it on the first go-​round. The granite countertop was cut for an older model and this new model was larger on top. The stove installer gave us the name and number for a granite company that he has had good experiences with and they did right by us! They came out the same day — not only did they make two flawless cuts but the repaired a cracked piece and gave us some great tips on how to care for our countertops. This isn’t their review, but my point is that the Sears installer gave us a great recommendation.
The next day Sears was able to work us back into their delivery schedule, at the time of our choice. They installed our new range, disposed of the old one, and all was well…
All around positive experience and I will seriously look there again the next time I need an appliance.

Good Sears! Well stocked and has a wide variety of different things. The staff is nice and the store is fairly clean but could use some organization.

This store is so depressing. It is brightly lit but so stark and boring. Nothing encourages me to stay. We stopped there for the tool department, the only thing they seem to be good for besides appliances. I’m giving three stars because the man in the tool area was helpful. Upstairs is this nasty women’s department with Kardashian clothing in it. I didn’t stop to «shop», just passing by was enough to see how cheaply made it was and not attractive. They have a Lands End department. I hope they don’t run that end of the business to the ground. I really hope this place turns around.

Sears was my first stop in appliance shopping. After pouring over Consumer Reports, I’d narrowed my list, and some that made the short list were Kenmore.
Of the five appliances I needed, I’d selected nine units I wanted to view. And since Sears carries many brands, I was hoping I would be able to see all or most of those appliances at this store.
I had great assistance from Carol Kearns, who guided me to the appliances of interest and, of course, pointed out comparable Kenmore appliances that were either equal to or better than the ones I’d selected in both price and features.
Because I’d read features and prices on Consumer Reports, I didn’t need the full low-​down on each piece.
In 90 minutes I’d seen all the units but two — and those two happened to be Kenmore.
So, Carol called over to the Sears Home Appliance Showroom in Manchester, confirmed that they HAD those two appliances on display and would be open on Labor Day, then put me on the phone with the guy to get directions.
Carol was very friendly and knowledgeable, and she helped a lot. I could have been stumbling around the appliance section for hours, which would not be an ideal Friday evening.

My push mower recently kicked the bucket so I have been doing some research as to a replacement.
I currenty have a Crsftsman riding tractor and have been very pleased with it so I decided to check into the Craftsman push mowers. I did not need a self-​propelled model just simple mower wirh a bagger. Online they had one that seemed to be perfect and right in my price range.
Upon arriving at the store they did have the mower but it was 15 dollars more than what was listed online. I spoke with an associate and they would match the online price without a problem.
Settled up and they loaded the mower in the car for me. Pretty painless and all around good experience.

Sears is kind of like Wal-​Mart to me. It has quite a bit of stuff. Most of it is cheap, and you get what you pay for. Craftsman has some pretty decent tools. Most of my set of tools is Craftsman. They hold up pretty well, and if they break most of them have a lifetime warranty. Anything else at Sears… Clothes, Electronics, etc I don’t think I would buy. I used to work in their electronics department, and basically its full of a bunch of brain dead monkeys. I don’t know how much longer they will be able to complete with online sales.

Why do I keep going back to Sears? They are convenient to where I live and have a lot of things, but I think I have finally learned my lesson. This saga started in 2010 when our Kenmore Dehumidifier died. OK, it was not new and I know they don’t last forever.
So Ms T and I went over and purchased another Kenmore unit to replace the one that failed. This one lasted about 10 months. I screwed around and did not do anything about it until after the warranty period of 12 months. That is my fault. From here forward, the only fault I will accept as my own, is going back to Sears. Since the dehumidifier was pretty new, I took it in for repair, knowing that I would have to pay for it. I paid my $ 35 non-​refundable diagnostic fee and they shipped it off to Kansas City where diagnosis and repairs are done. About a month later I received it back and lugged it into my basement. When took it out of the box and set it in place, it was listing badly to one side. Upon investigation I discovered that they had broken one caster off. Now I could have repaired it myself pretty easily with a new caster, but «no», I had to make them fix it.
Back to the store and back to Kansas City and then nothing. After about two months, I contacted them and they told me that it had been the victim of a truck accident on the way to KC and was totaled. I have no idea if they ever planned to inform me. To compensate for our loss, they provided a credit that covered the cost of a new one. That is fine since we had paid for a repair; we ended up with another new one in early 2011 which happily dehumidified our basement for one summer.
Fast forward to dehumidification season 2012 when Ms T plugged it in and nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. No lights, no noises, nothing. Remember this is a dehumidifier that is less than one year old. So to avoid missing the warranty period again, we took it straight over to Sears and this one was sent to Kansas City for diagnostics and repair. They would not and could not acknowledge that it was still under warranty since it had been supplied under a credit, there was no record of purchase. So in order to get the diagnostics done, we had to again ante $ 35. That seemed better than buying a new one.
Then we waited and waited and waited. Finally after a month Ms T called them and they had apparently had it back for two weeks. Again, I have no idea if they planned to ever call us. We know they had the right phone number because I wrote it in two places on the repair order. So this repair of a dehumidifier that was actually under warranty was another $ 85. They violated the terms of the repair order by doing the work without asking us if we wanted to continue beyond the non-​refundable diagnostic fee.
There are probably low risk things to go to Sears for. Perhaps some of the hand tools, etc. It should be OK to buy brand names there but I would never buy a motorized item with Sears or Kenmore on it. Under no circumstances should you buy a Kenmore refrigeration device. We have had poor results with refrigerators and freezers as well. I know from Ms T’s previous employment by a major office furniture manufacturer, that Sears specifies their house brand products to be less robust than the manufacturer sells under its own name. In that case it was lighter gauge steel in the file cabinets.
How is it that Sears is in business?
