Portrait Simple

I am currently writing this review as I wait in the car with my 2 year old. The pictures turned out great the guy taking them did a great job but that’s the only reason it’s getting 2 stars. We had a 230 appointment we arrived early 2:20. There is 3 places to take pictures and not one was being used. They didn’t call us in until 2:40. Our 2 year old did great through the first 3 sets but then had had enough. They continued to set up more scenes and wanted us to keep trying even though we told them she was done.
Finally after the pictures were done being taken we had to wait a additional 25 min for us to see them and had to deal with high pressure sales, high price of which ones we wanted.
There is no way to log on to the store from home and see the pictures and pick and choose probably because they couldn’t try and pressure u into buying them.
Like I said great pics came at the stress of waiting taking and them selling us the ones we wanted. Find a free lance photographer if u can much less stressful and better prices.

First off this review is for the Portrait Simple at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree, MA This is the 2^nd time I have used portrait simple at the plaza. The first time I thought it was a very over booked studio; but the pictures had come out really good so I decided to use them again for my holiday portraits this year.
Although the photographer was really experienced and professional I was not pleased with the aftermath of the session. Making us wait endlessly and not telling us what we are waiting for was kinda unnerving and pushed me over the edge just a bit. When we finally got a look at the pictures, I felt rushed. I was basically persuaded into paying a ton of money for 3 copies of pictures on a disc.
After ordering non refundable christmas pictures, I realized that the photographer put the wrong picture on the disk. (2 pictures were taken in the same pose and there was an imperfection on the one they uploaded) I called the store to tell them what happened. The tweenie-​bopper on the other end seemed un-​phased that I just spent her entire months salary on 3 pictures and didn’t offer an apology or resolution. Needless to say I won’t be returning to Portrait Simple next year. I will use a REAL photographer and not deal with this corporate mumbo jumbo. you live and learn. ;)
UPDATE: November 26^th 2012. I spoke with a gentleman from portrait simple Rick Banks he is the so called district manager of ALL the Portrait Simple stores. He claims that even though HIS EMPLOYEE made the mistake; they are at no fault. He offered to give me a copy of the correct image and I explained to him that I had already ordered the christmas cards that are non refundable. He was not willing to make the situation right by refunding me for the session. I told him I would return the CD to the store if that what he was worried about and he still wouldn’t make the situation right. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Now I am stuck with pictures I didn’t order and christmas cards that are useless. I WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO BBB.

The photo studio chain continues to use live rabbits that they buy and discard year after year (instead of working with local shelters). Better, yet, they claim «hay isn’t recommended for rabbits» and that’s why they dont provide it.
They may take fine photos but they have no compassion for animals.

Made an appointment with this place more than a week in advance in order to have a family portrait done prior to attending a wedding. Got there on time. Was told that the appointment was recorded in their system for the incorrect date and they don’t show an appointment for us for that day. The salesman (Chris) even admitted to us that he remembered talking to my wife on the phone and making the appt for her! They were fully booked for that day, so we were told to hit the road and there will be no way to get us in on that day even though they admitted that they made a mistake in their booking. At no point during our unpleasant 15-​min conversation at their shop did anyone ever offer an apology or a concession for a future date. The manager was rude and unprofessional.

This place was great. Fast, no weird jumping in the air hold hands in a circle crap. Stacey was really great. Put my parents at ease. She was quick, efficient, listened to what we wanted. The whole process is great. Take pictures, pick them out on a big screen, get prints and a CD. discount packages. I will always go back here for portraits.

So picture taking with kids could feasibly be a nightmare seeing that it is usually a painful process. However, this place makes it easy and takes the pain out of the process.
It is located on the 4^th floor of the Atrium Mall (needs to move as this location is not ideal) and is a smaller spot with three studios and a full experienced very nice and cordial staff. The prices are a bit high, but it is well worth is as the staff takes some phenomenal pictures and they are very patient and helpful. They spend time going over the various packages, holidays cards and if you become a member, they waive the sitting fees. Not only is the service satisfactory, but the staff is what makes the difference.
Pictures are important and if taken wrong could really make a difference. This place you won’t find a problem and completed photos are produced on the spot. Very nice job!

This is hands down the only place you need to go for pictures. I don’t know what it is they do, but they take AMAZING pictures. They have awesome creative layouts, collages… live bunnies at Easter, Valentines cards, Christmas cards/​pix. I have taken my son to Portrait Simple since he was 7 weeks old. LOVE THEM!
They are not Sears or JC Penny. No Gererica America here, just straight up amazing pictures!
Okay, they might be a tad more expensive then your Sears, but you get what you pay for! If you want fake 80’s back drops, then hit the anchor stores. Portrait Simple rocks! My favorite is Vanessa. She is a true sweetheart and takes awesome photos. She really takes the time to work with my son, and with her years of experience knows what she is doing! Love her and love Portrait Simple!
