I have been seeing Dr. SHAFF for about 30 years, on the recommendation of a friend, who still sees him. The history of my teeth and my care of them, had been extremely sketchy — no flouride in drinking water, no parental supervision of brushing, etc. I HATED dentistry, my teeth, my smile… Moving to Boston for college, I was given a referral from my friend — see Dr. Shaff. He, and his staff, have encouraged me to take responsibility for my dental health — not by using judgement, but by being gentle, positive and by educating me about the basics. I actually look forward to seeing him — he’s a great conversationalist, as long as you don’t have devices in your mouth and then you can only grunt in reply!

I went to this dentist 2 years ago, and they wanted to install a small filling because of a small cavity. I was skeptical because I had no tooth pain, and to install a filling they have to drill out some healthy parts of the tooth. I went through with the filling, and it just fell out. I would not give this dentist high marks for being able to install fillings that last. Fillings should last much longer than 2 years. Other than that, my experience at the dentist was pleasant.
