Nespresso Boutique at Bloomingdale’s

I bought my couple-​of-​years old un-​used Nespresso Pixie machine on ebay. I love it beyond belief. The ebay seller sent me 3 new sleeves of coffee since the capsule sleeves the machine came with had expired. I went thru the sleeves quickly and headed over to Bloomingdale’s to re-​stock. I just picked 2 decaf sleeves at random and 2 regular sleeves, all varying strengths. A very nice gentleman helped me out. I was the only one there on a Monday afternoon. I wish he had tried to sell me the descaling solution and some bags (?) for recycling, but I’ll just pick those up next time. So nice to have personal help and not have to order on-​line!

Unlike many of the other commenters here, I have always had good experience with the staff, who have always been friendly and efficient. The main problem is the lines build up some times, due mainly to the customers trying to glom free samples. Here’s an idea — if you want to try a new coffee, then buy a sleeve, bring it home, sample it there, and, depending on whether you like it or not, buy more. For the record, I have always been offered a sample. If you want unlimited free samples, go to Trader Joe’s and bring a thermos.

I recently bought a Nespresso machine and have been ecstatic with the quality and affordability of the coffee brewed by this machine. I used the entire pack of sample poss that came with the machine and came to this boutique to get some replacements.
I encountered Rachel, a delightfully well-​informed and articulate spokeswoman for Nespresso. She gave me good advice on what she liked and why and we chatted a bit about the machine and the coffee.
A wonderful place, wonderful machine and a wonderful representative for Nespresso.

Unfortunately, Nespresso pods are exclusively sold at this boutique where service is lacklustre as many Unilocalers have noted. You get much better service at Giant and CVS! The coffee shopping area is small and service is «in and out.» Don’t waste your time here shopping for machines.
So for helpful and friendly service, walk a block over to Williams Sonoma (WS) to buy your Nespresso machine and return to this «boutique» to get your pods. WS staff were awesome and so friendly when I was doing research on machines to purchase that I returned to buy it there once I made my pick.
One bit upshot: they carry milk/​cream while their new Tysons Corner boutique does not.

Employees need to learn how to serve customers. Sadly, it is inside the Bloomingdales.

Second time in a row I’ve been treated like a pain for trying to sample coffees (which I thought was the whole point of having these boutiques?). After trying three flavors, two of which I did not like, I was told there was a limit to how many samples a person can try. I’m not sure if this «rule» was made up specifically for me or if it’s real, but it certainly isn’t posted. And I think it’s quite stupid of Nespresso to stop customers — who actually own a machine and can only buy the coffee from them — from sampling the various flavors. Hello, the more I like the more I will buy. Otherwise the machine will sit gathering dust and I will return to my Illy coffee and french press.
I asked for the boutique employee to call a store manager and he refused! He gave me a boutique manager’s card and told me I could call her myself.
Eff that. I went to Bloomingdales Customer Service, spoke with a Bloomies manager and he set it all right and treated me like I deserve to be treated. So 10,000 bonus points to my beloved Bloomingdales.
I do love my Nespresso machine, and it is super convenient having the ability to just pop into the boutique store and buy a sleeve, rather than having to place a $ 50 order online. But my patience is running thin with the staff there.

Good place to try out the Nespresso coffee system — one that is on my wish list. They do also sell all the different varieties of the pods.
I have encountered a rude staff member on a few occasions and hence the lower rating — nothing about the coffee though!

This is the only option for pods in DC it seems. A little irritating on it’s own as the coffee range is limited. The staff member who served my was rude and ignored me at 1^st. I don’t care to be treated by a salesman in the manner, it would never happen in a nespresso outlet in the uk. He was rude, unhelpful. I have decided to only order on-​line now for my coffee orders.

Nespresso– your coffee might be fine, but you have to permeate through a sea of exceptionally rude employees. Oh, and there’s not actually coffee available to enjoy on site– of course, you have to ask about five different curt too-​cool-​for-​school workers before finding this out.
It’s a real shame because who doesn’t love sampling Nespresso after a day shopping in Friendship Heights? My only hope is that Nespresso corporate looks into etiquette training for its workers

I love my Nespresso. I’ve had it for 5 – 6 years and never had a problem. Before buying it, I had a very expensive Italian machine. That machine was great but after over 15 years, it started giving me trouble. I like to offer company an espresso drink after dinner or after a wine tasting. With my old machine, it was difficult to serve a number of people in a reasonable time. With the Nespresso, I can serve 20 – 30 people without difficulty. It’s nice to have the boutique in Chevy Chase. As New coffees are produced, I can try before buying. LOVE THE MACHINE.

This is a bar, with one attendant, who will sell you a Nespresso machine and/​or pods and accessories. Granted, that one attendant is very nice and if you ask, will produce a sample and you can sip espresso while you make your decisions. I went in, bought my flavors, and looked at what the new machines had in relation to my older model.
If you are new to Nespresso, I would recommend coming here and seeing how these things work. I got my machine after having used one at my office for a few years, and have a hard time living without it.

Anything you need for your Nespresso machine can be found here. They also accept used capsules for recycling, so bring your used capsules when you go there next time! I only wish it was bigger and closed off from the rest of Bloomingdales, so that you know it is Nespresso boutique and not Bloomingdales.

My husband and I were always curious about the wonders of these machines. We’ve seen them but never had a cup until we got here. Maureen (?) was super kind and friendly to us noobs. She showed us how different machines worked and gave us complimentary cups to try and they were fantastic. We were and still amazed at how quick and how delicious the espresso and cappuccino are.
This is the only boutique in the area where you can purchase pods. Other places sell the machines, but this is THE ONLY PLACE THAT SELLS THE PODS. Sure, you can order the pods online, but who wouldn’t like to purchase them here, and walk around bloomingdales as well?
Will return for sure.

Nespresso for me is definitely 5 stars. The Boutique in Bloomingdales does not have a large selection of different machines, but they do have almost all the different flavors. It is nice to be able to purchase pods from them without having to wait for them by mail. My husband and I’ve had our machine for about 4 years and could not live without it. He likes very strong coffee and I like mine a little more light. The pods give us the option to mix it up without wasting pots of coffee or having that dull tasts that tends to happen with other coffee makers. The coffee consistently comes out perfect and the milk warmer is the best thing ever.
The Nespresso Boutique is located in the Bloomingdales and does allow people to try the different flavors, but it is not like the Nespresso Boutiques in Canada or Europe. If you ever have an opportunity try the Nespresso Boutique Café it is must if you like terrific coffee and great food. If anything it is worth checking out the Nespresso boutique for a free cup of coffee or two or three…

It costs about $ 2K for a decent espresso machine and grinder. On top of that, it can take up to a year of practice to pull a really good shot.
I had a snooty attitude about using a pod product until I reluctantly got a demo of the machine. Save yourself about $ 1600 and get a Nespresso Citiz and Aerocino! I get a consistent, delicious shot with lovely crema EVERY TIME. I now have 2 machines (home and office) and have had no issues.
The coffees are great and the staff are very helpful. Sometimes I order online, but mostly I visit the Chevy Chase store.

One exception — I do not care for the lungos (regular coffee). I continue to make drip coffee on my pour-​over system or with a French Press.

Terrific espresso, tastes like I’m sitting in a café in Zurich. We are incredibly fortunate to have a Nespresso boutique right here in Chevy Chase. They are rare. I’ve been to some amazing Nespresso stores in Bern and Zurich, and Montréal. The Chevy Chase store is much smaller, and less glitzy, but carries the Nespresso pods and machines, everything you need. And no postage costs! You can sample before you buy, try the «specialty» capsule of the month at no charge. It is all tucked inside Bloomingdales. Nearby Tynans Coffee could enhance it’s offerings by selling Nespresso. And Nespresso would get a much better display of its goods if they teamed up with that Tynans.

Are you an espresso snob? You need at least one shot of espresso in any form start your day? Are you pretty lazy but can’t live without having espresso?
Then, I suggest you consider getting the Nespresso espresso machine and get nespresso cubes to get your daily caffeine fix.
Yes, the machine isn’t cheap but it’s worth it. I’ve been using it for 3 yrs and still working good.
1. One cube (for one shot) is about $ 0.50 and you can choose different variety depening upon which intensity you prefer (like coffee beans).
2. You can have shots as much/​frequent as you want in your PJ at home.
3. You don’t need to clean up the machine everytime you use. Just push the botton to get your espresso shot and fill the water-​container with water.
3. If you get an automatic froth-​machine, you don’t need to find a good barista anymore. Just need to get milk.
All sounds too good to be true? Stop by Nespresso boutique and ask for free-​cappuccino or espresso shots. Now you believe me.
