The practice was founded by Dr. Karl A. Rose (known as Tony) in 1980. Through the years Dr. Rose became recognized as a leader in clinical practice. Similarly, he held academic appointments at Georgetown Univ., Univ. of Maryland. and Univ. of Pennsylvania; the latter at which he taught post-doctoral students who were specializing in Periodontology, Periodontal-Prosthetic Reconstructive Dentistry and Implant Dentistry from 1985 to 2009. Dr. Apgar joined Dr. Rose in practice in 1991 and furthered the practice’s reputation as being among the finest practices of its kind in the nation. Dr. Karl Rose, nicknamed Tony, attended the Univ. of Maryland, receiving a BS in Biochemistry in 1972 and his DDS in 1976. He then served in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. After the Air Force he received his post-doctoral specialty training in Periodontology and Advance Reconstructive Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. He then moved to Washington, DC to join the faculty of Georgetown University Dental School and began practicing privately. From 1986 to 2009, Dr. Rose was an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania where he trained dentists who wanted to specialize in Periodontics, Periodontal-Prosthodontics and advanced Implant Dentistry. After a one year separation from academics (2009 — 2010), Dr. Rose accepted a similar position at the University of Maryland. Dr. Rose is married and has two adult daughters. He has many interests — from music to motorcycles, movies to family, friends to science & technology.
