I’ve trained under several professionals and have been training under Cesar for a year now. He is definitely the best Master I’ve ever had the privilege of training under. His knowledge of Gracie Jiu Jitsu is unparalleled. Yet he is always open to ways of bettering techniques. Other professionals I know promote a position of an aggressor, constantly overpowering and injuring opponents with little in way of understanding thoroughly techniques. With their approach, one is unable to go beyond what is taught because one’s knowledge is shallow and static so that he is unable to innovate. Cesar insists on a competitive yet a safe environment where technique and level-headedness are essentials to growth. Cesar’s way sets him apart from every professional I’ve come across. I should know as I have been in martial arts since 7 years old. Cesar has brought to me a new perspective and understanding of the art. I genuinely am grateful and most appreciative. I highly recommend Cesar to anyone looking to learn the art of Jiu Jitsu, for self defense or for competition, or simply enjoying a great work through intensive training in AND outside of class

Cesar is a patient and inspiring instructor who lives for his students. He truly takes pride in their achievements and sees them as a reflection of himself. Whether you are serious about martial arts or just want to vary your work-out routine you will more than likely enjoy training with Cesar.

I’ve trained with Cesar both in New York as well as in his own studio in D.C. He embodies martial arts — his depth of knowledge is incredible, his training mentality the best and his ability to teach to all levels of students unsurpassed. I’ve trained with a number of instructors and a number of schools and can honestly say Cesar is one of the best. He has an amazing ability to push his students to be better, and for me, importantly without a fear of getting injured. I’ve trained many places where the sport is just boiled down the machismo of one guy trying to dominate and hurt other training partners. That’s something you never have to worry about with Cesar. Not only is that type of student prevented from training on Cesar’s mat, but Cesar’s calm mentality has an uncanny ability to make everyone he trains with a brother that would never even think of hurting their training partners. For someone like me that’s a professional(a lawyer, not a professional fighter) that gives me comfort that I can train safely without worrying that I’ll hobble into work the next day or ever have to explain a black eye to my boss.
