Ultra Foods

This is a warehouse grocery store that is not necessarily stocked differently than any other chain store. But, in spite of the «warehouse feel,» you actually get something a little different. There is a fresh deli and meat counter with a huge assortment of deli meat, cheese, fish, and prepared salads. The wonderful thing about this store is you can pick out fish from the fresh meat section and have it cooked to order! Holla if you hear me! !!

This location stayed when Jewel Foods suddenly left the Olympia Fields plaza. They have regular sales and a totally different feel than the neighboring Food4Less. The weekly sales bring big crowds but it’s usually worth a wait in a long line for the added discount. They have the best prices locally for Hinckley water refills, so good that we cancelled home delivery and just pick up our own here. They often have sales on chips, which prompted today’s quick stop. The deli and fresh food area seems quite popular, it’s often packed. Sadly, the workers don’t consistently use the ticket numbering system, causing occasional confusion about who’s next. Still, we have used their catering service for years, getting positive comments about the catfish fillets (seasoned with lemon pepper), fried chicken assortment, spinach dip and fries… always a hit when ordered for parties. Just 24 hours notice and your food is ready when you arrive. They recently started carrying a variety of Boca and Gardein products. Yep, one of the best places for groceries in the area.
