I bought my first pool this year and Gary was very informative, not high pressuring and offered a lot of advice. Now I have to get ready for winter, so I’m going over to pick up my supplies and a winter top! His dog is adorable. Just wish he would open earlier than 11 on Fridays. Recommend him highly. As I was recommended by someone.

Recommended by me neighbor. Love this place! Been coming here for years now with all my pool needs. Everyone is ways friendly and know exactly what I describe that I need.

Great customer service!
We moved our pool table to put a rug under and because our pool table is cheap we completely messed up the table…
He came home and he really did a miracle, everything was wrong with the table… legs, top, even our basement floor was a problem to level the table…
After an hour he said.
” a pool table is not going to defeat me“
30 minutes later the table was fix
Service fee is not low but is not higher than other places since I called 3 different places in Chicago for a quote.
He came a day after I visit his store!

Gary, as others have said is a nice guy, but is a chronic, no call, no show type of business person. I had an appt. to open my 20,000 gallon in ground made with Gary 2 weeks prior to the date, and he never showed up or called. I called the next day to his store and a woman answered. I heard him talking to a customer in the background and the lady said he’d call me back as soon as he was done with the client. He hasn’t called back, and now it’s 48 hours later. So, 3 days after Gary was supposed to come open my pool, he did not have the courtesy to show up or even call. Do not use or rely on Gary or his store, you will get let down, and he doesn’t give a care. Find a higher rated pool guy on Unilocal or Angie’s List.

Gary is very nice and tries to be helpful, however… as other reviews have said… they are extremely disorganized and quite honestly not very good at mechanical things going wrong such as heaters, pumps, gages, etc… you have to call and remind them every single day that you have the problem only to be pacified that they will come out and never do… horrible follow thru…

I had called this company and made a reservation for them to open my pool. I was told they would be in my area on Wednesday and set the appointment for then giving my name, address, pool description, etc. They had told me they would call to confirm the day before (Tues), which they never did. I took off a day of work to be at home while they serviced the pool on the Wednesday appointment (as I have never owned a pool before). At 11am, I called the company to see what time they would be coming by. I was then told that they would not come as I lived too far away. Mind you, this was the SAME person that took my address and scheduled the appointment. Was then told they could «most likely» get me in that Saturday and that they would call me back later in the day to confirm. Two weeks later still haven’t heard back from that conversation.
VERY unprofessional and disorganized! If this is how they handle appointments to new clients, I’d hate to see their pool work. Glad I did not give them a dime.

We bought our first pool last year and towards the end of summer we started having problems wirth green stuff forming on the botton of the poo, otherwise it was crystal clear. We brought in a water sample and the owner was very helpful and told us exactly what to do and it worked. So we went back to him when it was time to close the pool. Instead of trying to sell us all this fancy stuff we didn’t need he told us what he did and saved us a lot of money. Well I was concerned that when we opened the pool it would be green (it was alwys like that when I was a kid). However today when we opened it, it was crystal clear just had some stuff on the bottom that needed to be vacuumed. When we went over to action the owner again told us what he uses (we have alow chlorine system that uses a mineral cartridge) and saveed us a lot of money. I highly recomend this store, the customer service and expertise alone is worth it

Awesome experience. If you have a problem with your pool water, take in a sample and they will test and tell you exactly what the problem is and how to fix it. The owner is great!

Is it just me or am «cursed» by the Pool Gods? How can everything be working perfectly when you close the pool for the winter and everything wants to leak come spring. To the rescue, Action Pool and the friendly folks that work there. When the wife spots you walking out the door and says «oh honey» while you’re out can you pick up a few items for me. Wouldn’t you know she yells out a few things, no written list, and hands you an O-​ring for something leaking on the pool. I get to Action Pool and naturally I’m asked «what’s it from». Give me a second to call the wife and find out. Of course she doesn’t answer the phone. But like said, to the rescue is one of the staff. He comes out of the parts room with an exact match. And while I’m waiting for two minutes they service three customers that leave with big smiles on their faces just like mine. Thanks guys, I really did want to go back home to track down the wife and hear her tell me I never listen to her. I’m pretty sure she probably said where the O-​ring came from.
