I went against my instincts and half-heartedly entered this restaurant. There weren’t many options to choose from and being a person having only chicken, I was stuck only with only a couple. Food was alright. Being located on the Clark St. — the food quality needs to improve much. I would not visit here again but wouldn’t advise against as well. The food did not suit to my tastes.

STILL a solid little café in Andersonville. I’ve now hosted three birthday parties here, and it’s always a blast. The staff is universally fun, friendly and efficient. The food is fantastic, fresh and delicious. The drinks. .. .whoa, that sangria is a delicious siren. For breakfast, the Lamb Benedict is savory goodness with a rich Hollandaise sauce. Complemented with an incredible Bloody Mary. The turtle and Koi pond in the back gets better and better with age. I love the streaming foreign music station playing. What could be improved? Cleanliness. This place could do with a deep clean, esp. the cushions on the patio. And the beer list. It’s awful. 4 or 5 domestic beers and Stella? Weak. The wines are great, but the beer list could do with an update. That said, I’ll still happily return here again and again.

Food was delicious, but service really brought this one down. Service very inattentive; it appeared like only one woman was working the write restaurant. Food took a while to come, but arrived hot. The outdoor patio was beautiful and dog friendly which was a plus. We had the chicken picatta, chicken kabob(a little dry, but tsatsiki sauce helped), tiramisu, and paella. All we’re good and I would happily eat again. They split the checks four ways, too!

Great food great atmosphere inside and on the beautiful patio. Interesting mix of dishes. I shared the seafood paella with pesto with a friend. AMAZING. Service was a little inattentive on the patio but it’s so nice that we didn’t mind as much. Get the saganaki for a good flaming time. My friends and I will be back to see the fish and turtles in the pond. Tiramisu was a great way to top it all off.

This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurant in Chicago! Atmosphere is great with all the greens surrounding you. Service is attentive — a tall gentleman is always there for our late lunch appearances. Fantastic flavors in all of the dishes that we have tried so far. They definitely have a chef who knows what he is doing! Some of my favorite dishes: Chicken Picatta(melt in your mouth combination of flavors) Spinach Gnocchi(their tomato sauce is to die for) Bottom line, the flavors that this restaurant was able to produce can rival any one star Michelin restaurant! Left a memorable impression on my palate and I can’t wait to return for my 4th time there. PS. I actually quite like the fact that it’s usually empty, not alot of traffic in. Makes me feel like I discovered a secret garden that I can truly enjoy deliciously prepared food. But of course, I wouldn’t want it to go out of business either so what are you waiting for, come and try this place out!

We felt today like having Mediterranean, and this location made it pretty clear they had just that by the huge sign outside ;) It was Saturday brunch time, so they weren’t busy; therefore, I can’t tell you about a lack of speedy service since we didn’t challenge them or anything. We got our requested food pretty fast. Also, the waiter had these gorgeous eyes, lol, good for him! We got the hummus as an appetizer, and it was yummy, not over seasoned and not plain; it was just right. We ordered the salmon and the portobello pesto with goat cheese, everything was delicious! I’m also glad we got to seat ourselves outside, which at this time of day, it was pretty calmly and relaxing because of the decorations and waterworks. I will def look forward to stopping by here again :3

This place is worth a try. The wait staff is very nice. The seafood is good. It is especially nice in the summer in their outdoor area where they have a fish pond.

My boyfriend and I came here for brunch on Sunday and took the advice of all who talked about how gorgeous the patio is. We were lucky and got seated right next to the little man-made pond/waterfall area. Soon we realized we actually weren’t so lucky at all. Although this is a beautiful little area to look at, it’s also apparently a kid magnet. It was not at all a good experience to have children yelling to their parents across the patio to come look at the fish. This literally happened about a dozen times while we were there. And I mean YELLING. Does anyone ever, you know, like, umm…, SUPERVISETHEIRCHILDREN?! So, beware, the beauty might not pay off if you still have your hearing. One more thing about this little area is that it’s kind of a mess. Obviously someone maintains this little beauty, but they also leave all of their crap out when they’re done. So it kind of looks like you’re dining at your messy grandmother’s backyard. Is it that hard to clean up after you’re done? Alas, we mostly came here for the food, which was pretty good. The goat cheese pesto appetizer was plentiful, but nothing to rave about. It was just good. I can get the same cheese at Mariano’s, so I wasn’t too blown away. We also got the salmon benedict and the gypsy plate. The benedict was a little bit too smothered in sauce, which overpowered the dish. A slightly lighter taste would’ve been better. The gypsy plate was simple and delicious. The best part of both dishes was probably the potatoes.

I’ve been excited to try this restaurant since I moved to Andersonville a couple of years back. I saw the lovely patio a lot driving or walking by, so I decided to purchase the Gropuon that was available a couple of weeks back. We went to brunch on a Sunday early afternoon, and when we arrived we were one of two tables in the place. This was a bit worrisome but more people did start to arrive over our stay. We sat on the patio which was very nice. The service was a bit strange and very slow for how empty the place was. I noticed a woman a couple of tables away only order a beer and it didn’t come out for 15 minutes. It took a long time to receive water, order appetizers, and order our food. They never even gave us a drink menu, which they did give to everyone else(and I saw a lot of yummy looking sangria and bloody marys heading out to other tables). We ordered the cold spread sampler with the goat cheese pesto, urnebes, and hummus. If the meal had stopped there it would have been a much better experience. The hummus is actually one of the best I have had at Mediterranean style eateries. It has a lot more flavor than the traditional that seems to be only flavored with olive oil. The goat cheese pesto dip was also great, however I am wondering if it was made in-house. The urnebes is a cheese mixed with spices(it is orange in color) and definitely spicy but really yummy. Also could have definitely not been homemade but I’m not sure. Once again our appetizer as well as main dishes took a very long time(entrees over 45 minutes) to come out. Which was really strange to me considering, once again, there were hardly any other people in the place, and what we ordered cooks very quickly. I had the breakfast burrito off of the brunch menu, which is served with a pineapple relish and what were advertised as house potatoes. Generally speaking the burrito was OK, typical with eggs and guac. However the guac was clearly brown and had been sitting since at least the day before. The burrito also includes pork which was dry and chewy, and really had no flavor unless combined with the guac or cheese. The pineapple relish was OK alone but with the rest of the dish it just didn’t fit. The house potatoes were extremely greasy and not even hot. In fact not much of my dish was hot, bringing me back to the point that it took 45 minutes to serve… Anyhow my boyfriend got the Balkan Sandwich which was just unfortunate and strange. I’m not familiar with Balkan cuisine so maybe it is just a cultural thing but the sandwich was cold and stuffed with TONS of raw mushrooms. He likes mushrooms, but it was weird that they were not cooked and there were just way too many. There was also just way too much ajvar on the sandwich. He really did not care for it. The sandwich comes with fries, which were very good but clearly not house-made and came from a freezer bag. I think they actually may have been the same fries that Aldi sells in the freezer. Not that I don’t like these fries, I just think that making your own french fries is so easy like why not do it? So once again, just to emphasize that eggs and a cold sandwich took over 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. I am not sure what they were doing back there but it certainly was not cooking. Overall I’m glad that we had the Groupon so it was a pretty cheap experience. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this place to a friend and I doubt we will ever go back.

Huge fan of Adriatic Café. My fiancé and I had strolled past this restaurant a number of times, as it is super close to home. The outdoor patio caught my eye in particular. It was obvious that immense care was taken in designing and maintaining the greenery outside. The atmosphere is extremely laid back and you almost forget you are in a relatively busy neighborhood. If you have the chance to come to Adriatic, I would advise coming on a warm afternoon to enjoy all the two patios have to offer. The plant life is truly beautiful. We were lucky enough to be seated just next to their gorgeous koi pond and tropical plant garden complete with trickling waterfalls and song bird to serenade us periodically as we ate and drank. To start my fiancé ordered the calamari(which he raved about), and I the spinach gnocchi. I didn’t know what to expect with this appetizer, but upon trying did not regret my order. It was amazing! Each dish was authentically eastern Mediterranean. The flavors were spectacular. Not a bite was left of either starter. Our entrees were the chicken kabobs, and scallops. If I could give the scallops 10 stars, I would. My kabobs were slightly overcooked, but I am assuming with the quality of the rest of the food that it may have just been an off moment. The flavor was on point. We brought our 11 month old son with us and he enjoyed eating off of our plates the entire meal. I’ll add that this restaurant was very family friendly, at least for our experience on a Sunday afternoon. We spoke with the owner/master gardener for a while and he is very kind. We will be regulars here and I look forward to exploring more of their menu!

I agree with Kabir S, the patio is sadly where any interesting aspects about this place end. Unfortunately, that’s the lone good aspect, about a restaurant that’s disappointing. I ordered one of the schnitzel entrees on their menu, and while that was okay, the food I tried from others eating with me was worse. The service from the server we had was okay, but nothing special. Ditto with the bread, we got before our meal. Seriously, too many other great places one can eat at nearby(and despite the loss of Edgewater Lounge), so no need for me to(more than likely) ever come back here.

Great food! I had the shnitzel entrée(can’t remember how to spell the first part of the name, it’s very long and has two J’s) — it was one of the best things I’ve ate in a long time — My friend Yanan had a seafood pasta with shrimp, salmon, clams & mussels, which was very good & Gonz had the lamb chops — his dish was the least favorable for the price. Only five lamb chops, heavily seasoned and over cooked. Our waiter was great though, no complaints there. The atmosphere is beautiful — we sat right next to the koi fish pond. Overall it was a good experience!

This place is as close to perfect as you can get. When I say perfect, its not in the decadent, 5 star restaurant sense. Its in the, «laid back, welcoming, tranquil, i-could-sit-here-all-day» sense. They offer a beautiful contrast of chic, modern, indoor dining and natural, serene, outdoor dining. My mom and I sat outside in big swivel chairs. We were so comfortable as we were shielded from the sun, but could feel the nice breeze. We also had a stellar view of the rainforest-ish ecosystem they had set up outside. It was full of moss, fish, waterfalls, turtles, plants of all kinds, and birds. It was so nice to eat and enjoy the sound of nature! My mom had the fried artichokes with a white bean purée and I had a greek salad. Both of these choices blew us away with the freshness and flavoring! We ended up sitting there for almost 2 hours just enjoying the environment and the calmness of it all. I highly suggest eating(or drinking, they have a full bar) here. Its like a little getaway!

I had a great Groupon Deal for the Adriatic Café, and I decided to use it today, hey, the sun was shining, birds were chirping, etc. Upon entering I found an area with some booths and a great looking bar, but, where I wanted to be seated was out by the garden, so that’s where I headed! I’m trying to think of the right words to express the feeling of being seated right next to this lovely garden area, I mean, there was a pond with a waterfall and some lovely fish, I even made friends with a couple of turtles swimming in the pond. And, I felt so at peace and contented, sitting on this lovely patio area, the sun was shining through, breathtaking! I had the greatest server, Shani J, and she was so upbeat and friendly, what a gem she was/is! I looked at the menu but pretty much knew that I was going to order the Salmon with the grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. Smartest decision I made today, seriously folks, the Adriatic Café should consider making this a signature dish, best salmon entrée ever! And okay, when you check in on Unilocal you are entitled to a free dessert, so do yourself a favor and order the zesty orange crème’ brulee’, incredible! They have a full bar available as well if you choose to indulge in some alcoholic libations! Honestly, I will definitely return to the Adriatic Café, Groupon Deal or Not! Yes, they are that good! During the week they are open from 3pm-9pm. Weekends I believe they open at 11am. Daily Specials too, check with your server! So, to the folks at the Adriatic Café I say Thank You for a great dining experience. Andersonville is so lucky to have you…

Dude. Love love love. Come in to the greenhouse patio and you’ll know what I mean. Great space with a beautiful garden with a koi pond and a large waterfall. Enjoy the tranquility of the plants and water falling in the background. Then introduce the drinks. Great cocktails and beer from the Middle East. Start the food with some bacon wrapped dates. Then follow up with a Greek salad with feta. For the entrée, u have to have the house specialty… Adriatic chicken. A large chicken breast wrapped in crispy bacon and stuffed with cheese and prosciutto. It’s delicious and really for 2 people. We also ordered the spagetti with meatballs for my son and he loved. To end, we split the fruit and ice cream crêpe and molten lava cake paired with some Turkish coffee. What a great meal. Def coming back!

This Balkan restaurant has had a turnaround and became more Americanized. The menu has both European and American items. I had the margarita pizza, and would personally not recommend it. It’s more of a flatbread… This restaurant has a very cute patio with a waterfall. They have a nice, friendly service, and the spot is great for groups. It’s very spacious. The highlight of the night-the crepes! Very delicious!!! Worth the visit!
