With over 30 years of locksmith experience in the Chicagoland area, the owner of Aguilar and Sons Locksmiths, Humberto Aguilar, is more than capable of handling any security issue you may need. Humberto (Bert) Aguilar has been involved with the locksmith trade in and around Chicago for over 30 years. Since he was 13 years old he has been trained to work on locks of all types, from emergency automotive and residential/​commercial lockouts to automotive and residential/​commercial repairs and installations. The driver’s door entry lock stopped working in my twenty-​year old van. After being told by the dealer that the manufacturer had stopped making the style of lock needed, I called around for help. A locksmith in my neighborhood told me that Bert Aguilar and his sons would be the people to contact for the job, saying that they were good at taking things apart and tinkering. I took the suggestion and was more than pleased with the price and speed of their work.
The shop may seem a little far for some who live close to downtown, but is off of convenient bus routes if you need to leave a vehicle (my experience, however, was that they work quite quickly and efficiently). It is worth your trip.

I’ve been having my keys made at Aguilar and Sons for several years. They’ve always made the keys correct with no issues. The one time a key is made wrong and I take it back with my receipt, I was shocked that my integrity was questioned. I was told that I was mistaken and the key was not made by them and that the key was made somewhere else. I think I would know where I got the key made at. The accusation was a blow to me and to top it off the guy tells me he doesn’t make mistakes. I think we all know that no one is perfect and we all do make mistakes, so for him to say that is wrong and bad customer service. Being Vice President of customer service for a reputable company in Chicago, its definitely not how I would expect my employees to treat customers. I will definitely travel a bit father to get my keys made going forward. Bad Customer service.

Needed a whole bunch of lock cylinders rekeyed after a set of keys went missing. On a Saturday. Apparently locksmiths have better hours than bankers, because the first one I went to closed at noon.
Luckily, Aguilar and Sons were open till three. They took my big bag of cylinders, rekeyed everything to one key, even rebuilt one of them because it was falling apart. The guys there were very patient, and helped me through all the options I had, finally figuring out the best way to get everything working on one key.
They’ve got my business from now on.

I was referred to Aguilar & sons from another locksmith! Alberto and his helper came out at the time they promised! They made a few suggestions and completed the job in the time they said! I used exclamation marks because the combination of these 3 is almost unheard of today! And they were courteous and professional. High recommendation.

After a recent burglary, and remembering the negative experience I had with a long-​time Oak Park locksmith, I decided to try someone new. Aguilar is a family business. I spoke to one of the sons on the phone, told him what kind of locks I was looking for and got his advice about alternatives. Another brother came to my house a few hours later, as promised. He installed two deadbolts and the hardware was exactly as advertised, matching my other hardware and keyed correctly. I paid with a credit card and the price was reasonable. The installation was first rate — the operation is really smooth and the keys work perfectly. I want Oak Parkers to know that this is a great alternative for home lock replacements.

On Monday at 3:30pm, I tried another local locksmith I had good luck with in the past and they could not fit me in until Wednesday. I almost didn’t bother calling others as the Unilocal reviews for nearby locksmiths were not confidence inspiring.
Despite the fact that I was in Oak Park, Aguilar got someone to my house within an hour. It ended up being a tougher job than expected, but they got they fixed my mortise lock at what I feel was a reasonable price.

I lost my mailbox key. Durr. My landlord sent a replacement key, but it was the wrong key. Durrr! I called Aguilar & Sons because of their great Unilocal reviews. They quoted me the lowest price of the locksmiths I called. In about an hour and a half, Andre was over installing a new lock. He was quick, polite and friendly. I can finally get my mail — Yay! Too bad its mostly all bills.

Needed to get our locks changed after getting a new condo.
I called on a Thursday to schedule the locksmith for Saturday morning. Charles came out right on time (I had to drive 100 miles to meet him, so couldn’t mess this up!), and had 4 tumblers re-​keyed and 5 keys supplied within a short time. It took only about 1 hour to do it all.
Charles was very pleasant and kind and patiently explained how keys/​tumblers work to me (who has an incurable interest in how things work).
Tip: tell them how many keys you want ahead of time and they can cut them in the home office, and then come out and adjust/​re-​create tumblers to fit the new keys.
Cost was $ 20 per tumber and a $ 69 (?) fee for the trip, plus about $ 1.50 per key. Reasonable rates and very dependable service.
I highly recommend them.

I called three different locksmiths off of
and Aguilar and Sons gave me the best rate. They were also the only locksmiths that could come the same day. They were at my home within 2 hours and did a great job. They reset all my locks and brought me 4 copies of each key for our new home. They were professional and efficient. I will be using them again in the future and recommend them to anyone in the neighborhood.

Who ya gonna call? Aguilar & Sons Locksmiths!!!
Ok, so it doesn’t have the same flow as the original Ghostbusters song by Ray Parker Jr. but that song was stuck in my mind the night Burt from A&S got me out of a pretty tight pickle. I won’t get into the sticky details of my personal tale of woe but after a mild panic attack I called these guys and they were there to help me out in less than an hour.
It was a cold, dark night, American Idol was about to come on and here I was locked out with my pooches on the other side of the door.
Burt saved my butt that night and I will forever be grateful. I truly hope to never have to call on him again, but I mean that in a good way.
