I called this company to install a storm door. The salesman came out as scheduled and quoted me the job. The door was a lot more expensive than the big box store options, but my front door is an odd size so I accepted. This was a month ago. I am still waiting for them to schedule the installation. The sales rep is nice enough about it but keeps offering excuses why the door has not come in. If you order what they call a «custom» storm door, be prepared to wait a long while. Maybe this is par for the course, I am not sure. So far, I am a bit disappointed with my experience, especially in light of all the other positive reviews I have seen here. But if and when I get a quality installation I may update this reiview and upgrade the rating.

We had to replace some windows and doors of our vintage home in Lincoln park. We have nothing but good things to say about American Thermal Windows. A neighbor had recommended I call Iver and he was knowledgeable and very helpful in picking the right Windows and doors.
Jerry and Stanley the installers were experienced and did an excellent job and left the job site clean. I would recommend this company to anyone needing to replace doors and windows!

I would highly recommend American Thermal Windows. I was very happy that the windows were delivered sooner than anticipated. The installers did a wonderful job, were very professional and did not leave a mess behind. I will refer other people and would definitely use them again.

They did a great job replacing our side door and storm door. More importantly the install was a little tricky and they took the time to do it correctly. Nick was our sales rep and was extremely helpful in our decision making process. We will use the team again.

I was replacing the siding on my house. American Thermal was the last of my three estimates I had gotten. A salesman came out, took measurements, said he would email me the quote. I received a call a few days later that the owner told him they would work directly with my homeowners insurance and couldn’t provide me a price. That’s obviously the company’s way to maximize their profit. My payout from a homeowners claim should hold no bearing on their quote. I told the rep «why are you wasting my time», «you know that I’m paying cash for this job?» I emailed him my other quotes as requested following that disappointing phone call. The salesman immediately called back and beat other estimates with a job start date of 2 – 3 weeks after the contract was signed. I accepted the amount, signed contract online, and dropped off deposit the following day. Two weeks later I call to see my status as the job was to be completed by the end of the week. I was then forwarded to scheduling dept and the soonest install date possible was 5 weeks from contract signing, 2 weeks past promised completion date. I wouldn’t have cared the start date if they would have been upfront from the get go.
Contractors show up and get to work. The crew of two, remove existing siding and gutters. They install new wrap, insulation, and siding on two sides of the house then the weather takes a turn, and no work was completed for two days. What upset me is that with the gutters removed the rain just ran down the exposed plywood wall of the house and into the existing soffit. There was some existing tar paper but it was from 1962. I called American Thermal to voice my displeasure and they sent someone out to fix that issue. A field rep did call me back quickly and resolved the problem.
The next day I did a quick walk around the roof to see the new siding and work. I found a piece of soffit that was hacked back into place. This piece was existing that was removed then reinstalled over new vinyl. The work was completely unacceptable. I emailed American Thermal along with pictures. When I returned home from work that evening that piece was fixed correctly and the job was completed.
Overall I feel they did a good job. The siding is straight, no waves. It really makes the house look nice.
They also did a poor job cleaning up. I picked up old and new siding scraps and insulation from both my neighbor’s property and 100 or so nails around the yard. My yard is a mess so I didn’t expect perfection.
I will say that I remodel homes and take pride in my work. I’m a picky customer.
Would I use them again? Most likely not. Did they do acceptable work? Yes, minus the hacked soffit.

Good thing I always comparison shop. because this place was by far the most expensive of them all… for what I was looking for in steel doors. While their craftmanship may be good. the price I was quoted (in the thousands).was just exorbitant…

Beware this business has a lot of good reviews however after a very bad experience u was offered a fairly large discount in order to remove the details of my negative post. Makes you wonder if this is standard practice for this business?

We met with American Thermal through the referral of my husband’s coworker. One of the reps came to our home to look at the old windows we had and gave us some options, writing out the numbers and giving us some discount options. He thoroughly explained the windows that they offered and the benefits; he was never pushy and he was very cordial, professional, and friendly. He was also on time and followed up with us from time to time. Even when we told him we were still deciding, he was never aggressive in his sales strategy. We had met with other window companies that were the opposite, trying to get us to sign the same day that we met; but this was not the case in American Thermal. In the end, we bough windows to replace all of ours, and they arrived on time, they were installed in a timely matter, and we had run into some issues but they had replaced the faulty windows with new ones. They were all around just a great company to work with, quality windows, and they had very reasonable prices, with great customer service. Thanks, American Thermal!

Last year we had American Thermal Windows install new windows on our house. They did such an excellent job that we had them back 6 weeks later to install new basement windows. Last Saturday we had them install a new storm door and front door. I’m so happy with results. Dominic was our salesman, very professional and friendly. Rob and Paul installed our doors, again very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this company. Enjoyed working with them.

Iver senior and Kelly at American Thermal Window went above and beyond for me and my brand new small business. Can you say permit issues. Well they put in a lot of time and effort to resolve them. I now have a beautiful and well installed rear entrance door. They also replaced an entryway window. The new door makes a difference in the feel of my shop.

I had a great experience with this company in 2013 when we bought a custom sized storm door.
In 2014, I decided to have another of the same exact door put on the back of my house. Our original sales man was no longer with the company and the gentleman they sent to us was less familiar with their product than we were. He was reading the brochure as if it was the first time. Anyway, he measured the space and said he’d write up a quote and send it over soon.
A week passes and I inquire about the quote/​contract and he said he’d call us back, another week passes and when he does finally call back, he says that he can’t sell us the door for the same price we paid originally and it will be a bit more. At this point I’m wondering why it’s taken a couple weeks to just get the paper work to us but we agree, sign a contract, pay a deposit and they tell us they’ll be in touch in about 8 weeks because it’s custom.
We wait 8 weeks, then on the 9^th week, they call us and tell us, that actually… the door we ordered and paid a deposit on is no longer available and that we’ll have to pay $ 200 more than we originally agreed on and wait ANOTHER 8 weeks!!! At that point we asked for our money back and thankfully did not have to argue about it, however months had passed and we were back at square one.
I decided to write this review almost a year later because I went to a big box and ordered the EXACT same Larson storm door they told me was discontinued and paid almost the same price I paid in 2013. In addition, the big box delivered the door and installed in 3 weeks.

We had American thermal windows install new storm windows in our home in Lincoln Park. It is a much older home with nonstandard windows and when the windows first came in they weren’t fitting properly. Instead of trying to tweak them to make them work, they ordered a completely new set of windows for us and even came out several times to make sure everything was working properly. Unfortunately, many companies would have hightailed it as soon as they found out that they were not going to make as much money on the job as they had planned. I was impressed that American thermal windows went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with the installation even if it meant having to go to the expense of reordering them for us. To me, this is the test of true character.

I had a very pleasent experience with American Thermal!!! Everyone was really helpful. My sales rep Eric Cisek even came to my house during the install on his day off to make sure things went smoothly!!! Talk about customer service!!!

I had a couple of other companies come to my house before Eric from American Thermal Windows came by with his estimate. Unlike the other companies I met with, he was VERY educated on the types of windows his company offered. At the time I became a bit overwhelmed, he was able to effectively narrow down my options to the ones that best matched what looked best on my house, was most energy efficient and fit my price range. Installation happened within 8 weeks from the time that I ordered the windows which was just in time for the cold weather that was on the way. I would definitely recommend American Thermal Windows to anyone that is looking to purchase new windows for their home.

We just had 7 windows installed this week! The difference in the rooms is amazing, no more draft! Tom was great to work with, he always kept in touch and on top of things. Thanks again, we are very happy with our new windows =)

Thank you, Unilocal,for finding American Thermal Windows My wife was ecstatic and she is a very demanding customer. The salesman Paul gave us a demonstration of the vacuum deposition silver oxide triple pain windows. They have only been in a week and already we are getting compliments from our guests at a party yesterday. We turned the thermostat down from 72 to 68 because the windows retain the heat so well. My wife wanted a little extra caulk on one of the 13 windows installed. Now everything is perfect. I watched the installation and Daniel and Adam were meticulous in their work. They put the insulation perfectly in every window. If you want the best windows rather than the pyrolytic low heat windows that the big box window people use, then let American Thermal Windows give you outstanding quality windows at a very fair price and really outstanding installation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We recently had new glass doors from American Thermal installed that have in-​pane adjustable blinds and they look great. I did not give a 5 star rating only because we had an issue with matching the color and exact style of the doors which was required by our condo association (older style /​color). However, I really appreciated the diligence and the attention we got from the GM, Iver, who helped solve the issues as quickly as he could. We ended up with a really great product that we are happy with.

They came out over a week ago to take measurements for replacing my windows. I called them 3 days later and the lady that answered said Paul would call me back. I didn’t hear anything for 3 days. I call again and the lady said Paul or herself would call me back that same day. Didn’t receive a call back so I called the day after and the lady that answered said the same thing again. I told her how many times I called and that I was extremely annoyed. Didn’t seem to matter because I still did not receive a call back that day. Shame on me for having faith in them. Shame on them for providing poor service.
If you can’t handle the job just let know so you’re not wasting my time.

I needed two storm windows placed over single pane stained glass units before it got cold. I found ATW through Unilocal,gave them a call. The owner gave me a ballpark quote over the phone, the sales rep came out and measured a few days later and the quote was right in line. The person doing the scheduling was super nice on the phone. And the installers arrived 10 minutes early, worked quickly, quietly and cleanly, and were extremely polite. And now I have two very lovely storm window units looking fantastic on my house and protecting my stained glass windows. Thanks ATW! I’ll be calling you whenever I need window-​related work.
