Chicago is a city of great corner stores. In many neighborhoods corner stores are experiencing a bit of a renaissance, with interesting beer selections and fresh, local foods becoming common place. Sadly, my local store does not seem to follow that trend. The selection here is pitiful. They have an entire aisle dedicated to pet food, but good luck finding olive oil. On at least two occasions I’ve grabbed milk or OJ from their fridge, only to later realize it will expire the next day. The hours are also terrible for a corner store. They claim to be open until 8pm, but many nights they are closed by 7:30. This basically means I can never shop there, since I can’t rely on them being open on my way home from work. I could go on forever about how this place sucks. They don’t sell alcohol. Don’t take credit cards. Ugh. I’m getting mad just thinking about this place. If I had any other alternative I would never step foot in America’s Pantry. 2 stars for the staffs always friendly attitude. But a smile only goes so far.

I don’t know how you can review a convenience store, but«America’s Pantry» is decent. It’s not nearly as gross or trashy as «Stop N Shop» over on Sedgwick & North. It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood, but doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb: it’s not bright or flashy like a «7÷11». It doesn’t have the biggest selection, but has most of what you need. I think a 3 out of 5 is a good score for a decent convenience store.
