Used Ardmore for a mirror repair in my bathroom. The owners seemed rushed, unconcerned and uninterested. Was given a time frame for the technician to come over(10 – 2) and he showed up around 4. While here he measured quickly, was a little rude and left. Technicians returned the next day and found mirror was measured ½ inch too short. Called owner and asked for technicians to come back the next afternoon after 2. They showed up without calling at 9AM and left bill on my counter. Glass shards on the bathroom floor had to be cleaned up by yours truly. At 5:30 the owner called and, in a quite surly attitude, asked when I would come there to pay the bill that evening. Huh? I left the payment downstairs the next day; are you kidding me? Find anyone else to do the work. This group deserves to go out of business and the sooner the better for all concerned.

I just kind of got the feeling they don’t really care about your project or if they get your business. If they are doing that great, well good for them. I stopped in the tiny, crowded store front. Received very little greeting. After one quick measurement and no questions, was given a crazy quote. I needed 2 simple pieces of glass for table tops — maybe 12×15 inches. $ 38 each and would take 4 days. Politely told the woman that seemed really high. No explanation or offer — just a blank stare. Well, I went to Clark Devon and paid $ 40 total for both pieces and received them in a half hour. Too bad — I want to support small, local business, but I don’t want to be overcharged.

I had a window broken a couple of years ago and got it replaced by these guys; as far as I recall didn’t have any problems then. When another got broken recently, I called them again and this time it was one thing after another with these people. My window is not a standard size, so it had to be custom made. After sending out someone to measure(I was told the owner of the company took the measurements), they told me about it would take five to seven business days to make. Obviously with a window broken I would have preferred a little faster, but I understand that with multiple orders and such a week isn’t that unreasonable, so I said fine, and they said they’d call when it was ready to scheduled installation. After a week, I hadn’t heard anything, and called them, to which I learned that it was ready, and«someone was supposed to have called you.» Annoyed at this point, but whatever. Scheduled the time, and arranged to take off a couple of hours of work on that morning to be there for the installation at 8:30AM. Installation day came and at 8:30AM, no one was there. Since I only had a little time off work and was on a tight schedule, I called rather than waiting 15 minutes(which I would normally do) just to make sure they hadn’t forgotten. I was glad I did, because their response was«It was raining over here so we cancelled it. Someone was supposed to call you.» An increasingly familiar refrain. I explained that it was NOT raining at my place, and having already taken time off work(with the minutes ticking away), I needed the installation to happen as scheduled. So then they said the installers would be definitely there by no later than 9. Needless to say, they were not, arriving instead at 9:30. They were truly apologetic about it, but as they explained to me, the office schedules their jobs to take much less time than they actually do, so inevitably all subsequent jobs are off schedule. Apparently this is standard management practice. And now the clincher– they got the CUSTOMMADE window out and discovered it DIDNOTFIT my window frame, which as I mentioned before, was supposedly was measured by the owner of the company. Doesn’t inspire much confidence, does it? The installers were very apologetic and were clearly embarrassed to be put in this situation. Doing the best they could for me, they remeasured and said the new window could be manufactured and be ready for installation the next morning(so WHY did it take a week the first time?) and they could install it at 7:00 so that I wouldn’t have to take off more work. I had to call the main office several times that morning to confirm(since my assumption was that the main office had to approve/confirm the schedule), and didn’t actually receive confirmation until around 3 in the afternoon. The person I spoke to in the office was very nice, and was clearly also being jerked around by management(hence the delay). Luckily the new window finally fit and they did arrive promptly at 7 the next day, and I wasn’t late to work. The final icing on the cake was that the bill was $ 240, whereas the quote was $ 220 — I called and found out that tax is not included in a quote, which doesn’t seem like a full quote to me, so that’s a little sketchy. Honestly I think I should have gotten a discount as well for all the things that went wrong with this order, but that was definitely not forthcoming either. I hope to never need a window replaced again(2 in 3 years? yeesh), but if I do, suffice it to say that I will NOT be using Ardmore again.

fast service, good selection, easy to work with, I like these guys. They have stained glass and other pieces for sale at the little storefront as well.

I live in the neighborhood and had the glass replaced on a cabinet door. The size is about 16×20 and he charged me $ 25, which I thought was crazy, but who cares really about the cost. Beware, the guy is not friendly at all.

I have used these folks three times in the last two years since moving into the area as a condo owner. Their workmanship seems very good. They do fine custom work for many designers in the city. I had them cut down two large mirrors into three specific sizes to fit wood frames. I required very accurate cuts and they were. They fit perfectly. The cost was modest to a bit high, but they were close by. They also delivered the job in a timely job. I also had them cut to size three thick glass shelves from existing larger glass shelves. Again they did a fine job. Cost again was more expensive, I would guess than someone out in the boonies, but I live green and got rid of my car years ago. Renting a car and paying mileage would have wiped out whatever savings I would have gained. And I have no idea about craftsmanship out there.
