Auto Tecx

I recently purchased a 92 Toyota Tercel and needed a mechanic in the neighborhood. I found these guys on Unilocal and decided to give them a shot. I brought my car in for an oil change and inspection and that was the beginning of a great relationship.
These guys were friendly and honest about the work that needed to be done, were willing to take me under the car and show me myself before they did any of the work, and were willing to work on my schedule. I’ve decided to pace the work out over the last month and every time I bring it in for the next job these guys get it done in a timely manner and under estimate.
I’ll be back in a couple weeks to finish out the work and say hey to my new neighborhood mechanics!

Pros:
— Done with your car in a timely manner
— Doesn’t force you to buy into other services like other shops do
— They tell you straight up what it is you need and if your smart you’ll take their advice
— They know their shit. (They are well-​versed in maintaining automobiles.) They fixed both my cars whenever there was a problem and never hassled me on fixing things for the future. But did inform me and showed me on occasion what is going bad.
— Prices are better than most mechanics around there.
— The waiting room is up-​to-​date and doesn’t smell like grease or exhaust fumes. It’s warm too.
Cons:
Nothing. Seriously just read all the other reviews on here.
Bottom line:
If you have a problem with your car. Take it here. They’re honest guys (Mo, Basit, Marco) to name a few. If you want a good running car bring it here, if you don’t give a shit about your car or life in general then don’t come here. No one needs that shit so take that shit somewhere else.

My experience from beginning to end with Auto Tecx has been amazing! Mohammad (sp) and his staff are EXCELLENT! We first started going here a year ago when my husband and I lived in West Rogers Park. The crew had passed the test of pleasing the in-​laws and so I knew they came highly recommended. We have always received honest work for a great rate. There are no games played here. They love what they do and they are awesome at it. My husband and I have since moved north to Glenview and we will always be making the trip down to visit Mohammad anytime our vehicles need any work. I can not say enough nice things about Auto Tecx!

I found out the hard way (wasn’t able to reverse out of a parking space) that my trans was in bad shape. I called AutoTecx and spoke with Muhammed (sp) and he was very polite, telling me to bring it in ASAP. I brought it in, and was greeted with the same politeness from the employee at the front desk (name escapes me sorry :\). I got my car checked out and sure enough, my trans was busted. They told me straight forward that that was the problem, and get this: they directed me to my dealer to check about my warranty, which was definitely covered under it. I appreciated that they were honest enough to let me know that that was an option instead of taking me for every penny I had. And Muhammed even helped my boyfriend push my car out of the space I was in. I am truly appreciative of how nice and polite everyone I encountered was. The inside was very clean, and I saw that they treated everyone in the lobby with the utmost respect and it was refreshing. Although they didn’t do any physical work on my car, based off of their honesty and mannerisms I would trust that they would do a good job if they had to. They also repaired my boyfriends brakes while we waited and it was a fair price coupled with the great service and it was an overall great experience. I think I’ve found my new mechanics.

I’ve lived in Rogers Park for over 28 years and Auto Tecx is, without question, the finest auto repair in the area.
Mohamad and the crews are great. They take good care of their customers and bank a lot of good will. The garage is immaculate, which says a lot about the integrity of this business.
They get the job down right, the first time and go the extra mile to do the best work possible.

My longtime mechanic (Omar at O&J) retired a while ago and I bounced from place to place with mixed results. I have now found my new auto mechanics. Mohammed and his team at AutoTecx are terrific. They are honest, highly skilled and fairly priced. I recently got an estimate from Mohammed of $ 500 for a job. I OK’ed the estimate and had them perform the work. At pick up, Mohammed explained that they found a more economical way to perform the job and he reduced the cost to $ 300 — and the job was done flawlessly. He then spotted a screw in my tire when I was pulling out and he patched it on the spot for no charge. Honest, skilled, fair and generous.

This is the best shop around. Whenever I need my car worked on I always come here. My brakes were bad, I went in to fix them and just so I wouldn’t have to spend hours there he put two guys on the job and got me out the door quick! My brakes are perfect now!

Great and friendly service at a fantastic price. Brought my car in for a full synthetic fluid change and it was excellently priced and fast!

I thought my car’s O2 sensor was on the blitz and they helped explain what the issue is and do a quick fix (not the O2 sensor). Not only have they saved me money, but they do great work and put my mind to rest on car issues. Always friendly and I can get my car in and out without any upselling of services I won’t need.
Even if you don’t live in the neighborhood, they’re worth the drive and you can always grab tacos at the nearby restaurant or walk to the library and get a book.

I’m so glad I found this place, I was given a referral from jiffy lube on western. Mohammed is very honest and I know a genuine person when I see one. The shop is very trustworthy, I highly recommend this place.

Five stars for a perfect experience. I’m a working professional with no car knowledge but was sure my ’07 Prius was overdue for some maintenance as things had started to sound a little funny. I dropped it off, got a phone call a couple hours later telling me what things needed to be repaired right away, and which things were optional to be fixed based on how long I planned to keep the car. This is the type of honesty I can appreciate. Muhammad is knowledgeable and can explain things in layman’s terms, in a language I can understand. Excellent and honest service at a very reasonable price. Highly highly recommended. Will definitely be sticking to this shop for all my automotive needs!

Autotecx was a lifesaver. I recently purchased a used vehicle and within two months the check engine light came on. Come to find out that my engine was sick and on its way out. Autotecx worked diligently with the warranty company (not always an easy task) to get the repairs covered. They went above and beyond to find a low mileage replacement engine and within a week it was installed and I was back on the road and my car works great. If it weren’t for Autotecx I don’t know what would have happened. Mo and the staff at Autotecx are very fair and care about theirwork and seeing the customers satisfied.

After reading a few reviews about this place, everyone is on point. Took in my 06 Evo today to replace my 02 sensor. Might seem an easy job but it’s really not and it takes knowledge and experience. Mohammed and his team has exactly those two things. Definitely great customer service and great experience. Will definitely come back for future vehicle maintenance

My experience with Autotecx began when I bought my first performance car (An 08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X). I immediately went to the forums and started researching maintenance and upgrade option, not surprisingly there were a million different opinions on what was best for my car.
Confused out of my mind and not wanting to risk any major issues for my new car, I came to see Mohammed as I had been referred to his shop by a few enthusiast. As I walked into the shop I noticed a beautiful RX7 with an amazing widebody kit, I knew I was at the right place. Although, I initially came just for an oil change and tune up, I ended up getting some of the best tuner advice for upgrading my car. Eventually, I would have all of my performance parts installed through Mohammed. He was transparent with each phase of the work, he also saved me a ton on parts with his dealership connections.
If your an average joe that just wants reliable and trustworthy advice on your car, go see Mohammed. One of the hardest things in life is to find good advice and service, both of which you’ll find at Autotecx.

These guys are the BEST! Mohamed was so helpful and they fixed our Subaru for half the price of the dealership and within a few hours of when we brought the car into their shop, his brother even gave us a ride home while they fixed the car. He explained all the issues of the car and let us know what we could wait to fix. He let my husband into the shop and showed him everything under the hood and under the car. I love that this shop is a family owned business — I’ll bring my car back and will recommend them to everyone I know. Thanks guys, you made car repairs less painful!

I got my first oil change at this Repair Shop a few months ago. It was an amazing experience. They were very kind to me and got me taken care of quickly. I really appreciated how nice both the guy behind the counter was and the men working on my car. I would highly recommend this Auto Tecx to anyone looking for an oil change. The customer service meant everything to me.

One can’t really get a better service than this in the city of Chicago. The owner Mohammed is one of the nicest guys to talk to, and explains the problem thoroughly while providing multiple options, as a car enthusiast, he actually knows the ins and out of anything and everything that walks into his shop. The shop does a free inspection of the car to let you know of the problems that might arise, and should be fixed. Don is super cool, and having owned one; knows his German cars.
The best part is that this place is extremely fast with their work. They will NEVER overcharge you for labor, and half the time, your car is out the same day it gets in. Nappa autoparts is also very cheap with their parts, and completely warrantied so not worries about future breakdown.
Highly recommend to anyone with any type of car needing any type of work.

When searching for places to fix my car near my apartment, I came across this place. Let’s just say I wasn’t disappointed in the least! The customer service was great. I had to get a transmission flush last minute, and they did the best they could to fit me in. It only took about an hour to get it all done and I just grabbed some Mexican food while I waited. The next time I stopped in, I recommended my girlfriend to get her car looked at and the mechanic was so nice! He seemed truly concerned in helping her fix the car. Again, very quick service. They even dropped us off at our apartment so we didn’t have to walk back!
This will always be my go to place. :)

I’ve been looking for a while for a good shop that has good prices. Luckily I’ve found this place. This is by far one of the best shops I’ve been to. They tell you what’s wrong and what needs to get done no extras. There prices are very good and all the way from the inviting waiting room to the quick service. I come here for anything and everything I need done. Without a doubt the best shops in the Chicagoland area!

Man Auto Tecx got me out of an instant jam. My drive belt broke and I needed a water pump. Fast turnaround on the work too!
