Bank of America

I was looking for an ATM and when I saw they had a BOA ATM on Chicago Avenue I was thrilled, but not so when there were two men standing in the vestibule where the ATM machines were who obviously had no business being there. This is the reason people need to be very careful when going into enclosed areas where ATMs are because you don’t know who is loitering in the area. This particular strip of Chicago Avenue was not full of homeless and hood elements years ago, but as they demolished Cabrini Green down the street the elements from there moved towards the inner parts of downtown where tourists and shoppers are present which makes one feel that the ATM isn’t safe. They should place more lighting in the ATM area so that it’s a deterrent for people to try anything and having it more well lit helps to deter the homeless from congregating around as well.

If you need a Bank of America at the north end of the Mag Mile this is your spot. The 24hr ATM is always handy.

I like the new BOA service where you get greeted and pointed in the correct direction for what you need. The manager here is warm and personable.
As usual there are long lines and few tellers.

I’ve always had positive experiences at this branch and at Bank of America in general. The tellers are always extremely friendly and helpful in answering my questions and assisting me with deposits.
There was one particular time when I made a check deposit at the ATM and accidentally accepted the amount even though it was missing a digit (i.e. I short-​changed myself about $ 1000) and freaked out a little bit. The employee working near the front noticed something was wrong and quickly asked if I needed help. I explained what happened, he said it happened all the time, and assured me I’d be fine since all deposits are manually reviewed. He told me to print my receipt with the check image and to check my balance in the morning. He even gave me a card with a phone number to call if I was unsure about anything and told me I could also stop back if I had more questions. Hooray for good people. I know he was just doing his job, but I can’t imagine anyone at my old bank (or should I say ex-​bank) being that helpful.
