We ordered roast beef sandwiches and they were not fresh or delicious. I normally only do reviews for places that have great food quality, prices, or customer service and I don’t believe this place had anything but cheap prices. Fries were luke warm; no seasoning or salt. The bread was of good quality for the sandwiches the meat was questionable.

It’s a little taste of greasy food when you don’t have a lot of money and probably don’t feel like venturing far from home if you happen to live in the neighborhood. This place doesn’t have the best atmosphere it has been my experience that some homeless people do set up shop inside and pretty much hangout in there, the restaurant itself is kind of run down, buuuttttt(there’s always a but) the food is cheap and will suffice when you need it to. Just a tip I always call ahead that way when I get there my food is ready and I can leave as soon as possible.

For some reason I’m the customer… I try to order something and I cant order what I want. I’m telling u what we want to order and u try to tell us what we should order… Doesn’t work that way unless it’s chef choice at a downtown rest Food didn’t have any salt and since we couldn’t order what we had planned and wanted the food was a turnoff and disappointing I will take my business elsewhere where I can spend it on what I want to order

I spent over an hour in the snow driving back from the burbs. There was a quasi homeless guy sleeping in one of the booths. They used cardboard boxes on the floor to soak up the snow. The floor was gross. The homeless guy made the whole place smell like feet. I had every reason to hate this place and leave a bad review. Let me just say if you are expecting anything other than basic old school greasy late night food, don’t come here. That being said, this place has some seriously decent food. I was really surprised. It is also REALLY cheap. I think I spent $ 7 on a foot long philly with fries and a pop. It was awesome. –1 star for the unkempt atmosphere and the totally disorganized menu. I’m being nice to say this is anything less than a sh*thole. I don’t care. The food tastes good.

Big selection of food with really good subs. Chicken wings have a really tasty seasoning to them and the prices are low. Definitely going back again. Also the people are nice there

Moved away from Chicago for about 10 years, so alot of the food here is food I’ve been missing… One of my favorite spots to eat for something quick, greasy and good. I don’t know the dude name that’s always in there but he looks like an Emilio, so that’s what I call him. He always hook me up! ONEOFTHEBESTBEST I’VE I’VEBEENTOO. This is just what this neighborhood needs and im not being sarcastic when i say this«ghetto flavor». This is one of those spots where u can just about get anything u could think of. Another big plus is the friendly cooks and cashier. U can dine in but the crowd changes and sometimes theres a lot of kids waiting to get a fixing of chili cheese fries. You can also modify and combine menu items to make your own creation(ask for double bacon gyro chili cheese burger). The prices are affordable and u wont believe how much food u can get for 10 dollars. They sell everything at a reasonable price so there my go to when i don’t cook. I have tried over 6 different meals and each one is spectacular. On some aspects this restaurant may have competition like jays beef down the street but thats only with italian beef and best sub is second best Italian beef.

not the swankiest of places, however they are home to THEBESTFRIES i’ve had in Chicago. WINNER! WINNER! CHICKENDINNER! and they don’t skimp on the amount. order them«well done» and they’re the perfect amount of crispiness on the outside and fluffy on the inside. also ordered the cheese steak — it is ginormous. split between two peeps or prepare to have a food baby.

You are going to have to trust your taste buds on this one. The food is good, the menu is huge, and the prices are low. That being said, make sure you get your food and split. Call in an order if you can. I had a hard time keeping a straight face when he asked«for here or to go». I wanted to ask«Are you serious???».

I’ve always been a big fan of the old fashion hot dog /Italian Beef /Gyros places. Cheap decent real food that you don’t have to wait a long time to get. The guy working there was super friendly which is always a plus. I had the two polish sausages which were decent, a little over cooked, but good for the price. The fry’s were really good and crispy. This isn’t exactly a place to take a date to, but a great place to sit down and grab a quick bite to eat.

Unless there are two # 2s, the place in Humbolt Park is not Best Sub #2. The Best Sub in Logan Square is the one coined #2. My hubby jokingly says it is named correctly(#2). Anyway, enough potty humor. This place is pretty scuzzy. But it is open really late and the workers here are really nice. I have a soft spot because of several late night Gyros from this place. I love a restaurant that gives you a story, as long as the story is not food poisoning.

Fried chicken, fried fish, fried shrimp, gyros, burgers, philly steak, yeah one of those places. It’s what you expect from a greasy hole in the wall, with great low prices. A chicken sandwich with fries and a drink is less than $ 5, and come to think of it most meals run about the same. The fish sandwich is solid, and the fries are crispy. Be clear when you order, though, or you’ll end up with two sandwiches and a strawberry Crush in your to-go bag.

their subs may be the best, but i dunno. the hot dogs? not so good. the fried chicken, on the other hand, is so good it makes me weep. especially the half chicken dinner for a measly $ 5.25 which comes with salad, garlic bread, fries, hot peppers, hot sauce and a half chicken so big it looks more like a half ostrich.

Having grown up in the South suburbs, there’s a special place in my heart for dirty beef/hot-dog/gyro joints. You know it’s going to be tasty and cheap when you see that one yellow sign with the submarine cartoon on it — they all have it. After recently moving to the North side, I was delighted to find Best Sub(#2; the original is on Division) right down the street from my place. The good: — Greasy, dirty, cheap(you’ll walk out of there only about $ 5 lighter) — Delicious — Great beef, Vienna franks, Kronos gyros, and gloriously heart-attack inducing burgers — Open until 4AM every night. The bad: — Slow prep time. Call 10 minutes ahead. — The fries aren’t the greatest, but they’ll do at 4am. — Expect to encounter an unsavory character or two. It is, after all Humboldt. Oh, and once my roommate and I paid for our meals with Panamanian currency worth about US$ 2. Another time I paid $ 9 for my $ 11 meal, and the guy gave us a huge plate of chicken and fries because it was there and they were closing.

This one and a half star food place gets 5 stars for having a huge menu that includes fried okra, sub sandwhiches, several kinds of fish, gyros, burgers, hot dogs, polish sausauge, shrimp. chicken, pizza puffs, cheese sticks, and a whole bunh of other stuff I can’t remember. I enjoy getting the #1 special, which is a big hamburger with all kinds of toppings, fries and a can of soda for 2.49 $ And they’re open until 2 am on weekdays and 4 am on weekends. This place is kind of scary though and you may be solicited, but you don’t have to eat there. They’re fine with calling and ordering and you go get your food and get the fuck out.

7 days a week this place is open until 3:00am. The food isn’t spectacular but for the genre its very solid. Their combos are tough to beat and is the perfect stop for those late night drinking or work fests. Dinner tonight: Double«Whopper»(Includes all the lettuce, tomato, onion+ fixins and a nice roll) with cheese and fries. They bolted on a fried egg onto the burger per my request($ 4.50 + $ 1.00 egg). Burger wasn’t incredible but compared to stopping at a real fast food place I was the clear winner. Another friend got the Chicken Nugget combo(includes 8 nugget, fries and a pop) for $ 2.99! She remarked that they were pretty good but wished she had gotten the chicken strip combo instead. I really enjoy the Cheese Steaks and other late night shouldn’t but gotta have meals. This is a place for no frills, cheap, fast food, and if you’re a bit nervous with the Humboldt Park hoodlums you may not want to risk it. But if you’re drunk, tired or downtrodden and just need a bite, or if you simply would rather go local and a bit better quality it’s the same price as any of the fast food chains.
