Big Mike’s Gyros II

Note to consumers: This restaurant seems to now be operating as Jack’s Chicago Grill.
I placed what I thought was a pretty simple order, trying to patronize a «new» establishment. Close to delivery time (nearly an hour later), received a telephone call from the restaurant stating that they didn’t have an item I’d ordered from their menu, and asked if I’d care to substitute. I agreed, and they said that at that point they would START the order, and it would require another hour.
Minutes later, received a second call from the restaurant saying that they didn’t have my beverage choice, and queried whether I’d like to substitute for another soft drink. Again, I agreed to, and they then said it (order, plus beverage, quantity of 2) would be delivered «as soon as possible.» After about 45 minutes, the order was delivered with no beverages at all.
I alerted GrubHub, through whom I’d ordered, they promptly attempted to contact Jack’s about the omission and suddenly they were unreachable, long before their stated closing time. The following morning, they declined to deliver the drinks nor issue a credit, though I spent over $ 40. A word from the wiser: Avoid. Take your business elsewhere.

Sign out front says «JACKS». Stopped in for a quick bite at lunch, place is tiny, not a lot of seating, but the service was good, and the food was a little better. Typical hot dog/​Gyro place, familiar yellow Vienna sign out front, the one we all love. Ordered a Gyro, fries and a can of pop. ($ 6.99 meal deal) Gyro was excellent! Large portion, pita was soft and floury, and the sauce (ziti ?) was spread perfectly, not overbearing. Fries were cooked perfectly, but had a slight «fishy» taste, sort if expected. I’ll definatly go back.

i wish i could give them zero stars!!! never received my food! i waited an hour for the delivery driver to not even show! cant rate the food. didnt get a chance to try it

I made an order for delivery here. After telling them my address several times, and waiting for an hour, after they said my food would arrive in ¹⁰⁄₁₅ minutes, they called back and said my location was too far to deliver. I live 13 minutes away from this restaurant. Not to mention the first thing I asked before I ordered was if they delivered to my address and they said yes. So at 11PM after waiting nearly 2 hours, me & my pregnant best friend are going to call Bacci Pizzeria and order from them. Will never waste my time with this place again.

Absolutely the WORST customer service I’ve ever encountered. Called in a huge catering order for a hungry site crew an hour and 15minutes before they were needed for pickup… Was ASSURED the order would be ready for pickup at 5.30pm (extremely time sensitive) and was asked to provide a credit card to secure the order. We provided our AMEX details over the phone, to then find out they don’t accept AMEX– we then put down another card and are asked to pay 50% of the order up front. Not ideal, wanting to pay cash, but not a problem. We then arrive at 5.20pm for pickup as scheduled, assured and confirmed; they accept the remaining payment as cash and then inform us that it won’t be ready for another 15minutes and that they weren’t going to fulfill the order until full payment had been received??? The order ended up taking an additional 45minutes to complete– completely unacceptable. So far, so bad… Mistakes happen though! Perhaps the manager/​owner maybe apologetic, offer an explanation of misfortune or offer some sort of compensation for a $ 450+ order going so wrong? Nope the owner was infuriatingly rude and unapologetic about the whole thing. Disgraceful business practices, average food and piss poor customer service from top to bottom… Needless to say we’ll be taking our fairly lucrative large group orders elsewhere.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Love the food but if you want it get it delivered because the man that’s there in the early evening has a major attitude problem. And if I’m paying I deserve service with a smile. I can’t stand the I don’t even want to be here stank attitude from a man. And won’t be walking in for an order ever again. Hey dude just in case you didn’t know you absolutely suck at your «job».

Food greasy but taste good. Their small items in the frig like coleslaw, desserts… my reason to walk here. They have great deals depending on what day…

Been here twice now and I’m a fan if I’m in the mood for something quick. Menu is huge so you have a lot of options and prices are reasonable. It is a smaller place so yes it may take a little bit of time but what do you expect? Atleast you know it’s fresh! Staff is always friendly. Good addition to south loop.

As a person who grew up on the south side this gyro spot was a welcome addition to the south loop for me when it opened. I’ve frequented it multiple times since opening. They’ve got an extensive menu and the food is pretty good. However the last 3 times I’ve been in here I’ve had to wait at least 6 – 7 minutes and once 15 minutes to even place an order as the cashier is on the phone taking delivery orders while the line of people accumulates with no acknowledgement of anyone in line. They really need to figure out a different process. super frustrating.

I came here a few days ago to get a quick bite before attending a show next door at Reggies Rock Bar.
The place is small, has 4 tables that seat 2 per table. They have a fountain drink dispenser and also fridges with bottled soda, water and other drinks. Since I was in a slight rush to eat before the show, I just ordered mozzarella sticks and a regular size drink. The food did take quite some time, I think close to ten minutes, which Im not sure why it took so long, was it my order of the sticks? Or are they just slow in general? IDK. Anyway once I got my food, I sat down and boy is the food fresh. It was hot when I got it, I had to force myself to eat the food quickly while it was freshly hot, i didn’t burn my mouth, because I had come ice cold coke with me. The mozzarella stick cheese melted when I took a bite out of them, but they did keep their shape before I took a bite. A large layer of fries was underneath the mozzarella sticks. I would say about 8 sticks were in my order and then the bottom of the fries plate was full of fries. I just ordered mozzarella sticks but they threw in the fries too? Wow I have never had that happen to me. More food for the same price!
Their only drinks out of the fountain dispenser is either Pepsi OR 7 of their house BMG lemonades, fruit drinks and coke. Its all their own homemade drinks in the dispenser which has 8 drinks, aside from pepsi. Anyway, the guy at the front seemed a little off, he could barely hear me and I was talking in my normal voice, he seemed annoyed and was like «what??» I had to speak up more which was unusual but whatever. Long story short, I avoided talking to the guy here the rest of the time I was here. Its a nice take out place, it was my first time here, aside from what I got, they have burgers, chicken, gyros, chicken gyros, gyros burgers, chicken burgers, rotisserie chicken, vienna beef hot dogs, etc etc. I would come back again if I am ever in the area with a friend or two, again there is not much seating, so its more of a take out place. The parking is street parking, you must pay the ticket/​valet box in front of this place, unless you plan on taking out or eating very quickly, for the parking meter is $ 2/​hour. You can pay with coins, (no pennies), dollars or a credit/​debit card. Anyway this place was decent in my eyes, I hope to be back in the area again soon!

I gave this place a try because its in my neighborhood but it was absolutely disgusting. The meat did not taste fresh at all. The place was unhygienic and frankly does not look like it belongs in the South Loop. Save your money and just go to Greek Town if you want quality Gyros.
