Established in 2004.

There has been a jewelry store in this location servicing the Edgewater community for nearly 100 years. I am only the fourth owner from the beginning and have been in this location since 2004. I am a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America and have been in the jewelry business for 20 years.

I have been in the jewelry business for the past 20 years. I have a passion for making all kinds of jewelry, not only my own designs, but also my clients dreams and visions. This profession has never seemed like a job to me, but more like a hobby. I enjoy making custom jewelry, setting stones into remounts and everyday is fun for me. The biggest enjoyment I get is when I see the clients reaction to their piece of jewelry that I have either made or re-​created for them.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 2 years, and just recently found out that this place even existed! It is a tiny storefront right by the el station entrance that you would not notice unless actively looking for it. However, if you have a broken watch, broken jewelry, or are looking to buy new jewelry, I highly recommend this place. I went for a simple battery replacement for a watch, but needless to say, I was highly impressed with this place. My battery was replaced and my watch was ready to go in under 5 minutes. The employees are extremely kind, helpful, and professional, and want to ensure that you get the best service possible.

Ok, I had Scott F make a custom piece for my black pearl. It turned out great! But the story gets better. I also purchased a silver chain to go with it. Today, I went to the store after a short vacation where the chain was pulled off my neck. The clasp came off. Today, I went to the store and Scott F. fixed it at no charge. The customer service is great! There is nothing like supporting local businesses. I highly recommend Scott F and all the staff. Thank you!

I have got married just a couple of months ago, and the biggest challenge for me was to find the right wedding rings. I wanted something classy, and nice, at an accessible price, so one of my friends told me to check out Bryn Mawr, because they have great stuff.
So, I went there with my hubby, and we were glad to discover that they have plenty of gorgeous models available. Form not finding anything, I was now confused as I did not know what to choose. And, we also realized that the prices were incredibly convenient too, unlike in all the other similar places that we have visited. And, we simply loved Scott! He is so patient, and nice, and presented us all sorts of options, helping us to decide. He was very friendly, and transformed the entire process into a fun, and pleasant experience.
It didn’t take me long to decide, and I am more than happy with my choice. Now I recommend this place to everyone, as it is one of my favorite jewelry shops, and I constantly return there to add something new to my jewelry collection. No matter what you look for, this is the best place to go!

I worked with Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company to design a beautiful engagement ring for my fiancée about a month ago. They made a typically nerve-​wracking process really painless, and I learned more about diamonds in a couple of hours with Reginald than I’d gleaned from weeks of online research. He respected my price range, wasn’t pushy, and helped me pick a stone that complimented a gorgeous hand-​engraved setting perfectly. Furthermore, Scott was able to set and resize the ring with only one day of turnaround and did not charge for the adjustments. My fiancée’s gotten quite a few compliments on the ring, most of which I can only take partial credit for! I really cannot say enough about how fantastic this place is. We will VERY likely be back for the wedding bands, and I’m excited to work with them again. Highly, highly recommended!

Scott, thank you so much for the beautiful piece of art that I call my engagement ring!!! My fiancé and I saw all the reviews for this jeweler and decided to set up an appointment. Scott emailed me right away and asked what stone styles we were interested in. I knew I wanted oval cuts and he asked what carat or price point we were comfortable in. When we arrived a week later I saw 4 stones. He got my stone from a conflict free supplier from India. Fell in love with one awesome rock and it was decided! We met with him another time to «draft» setting ideas. He will have you choose a budget and stone first before talking setting, the two most important parts of the ring in my opinion! After stone, setting, and price were discussed we put a down payment and the following week he sent my fiancé a CAD image. We trusted his professional opinion of «tweeks» and it took 4 weeks to get made. I have got to say this ring is so beautiful. I love that Scott did all the labor and communication with us himself. No middle men or sales people at this shop! They provide education, quality, and artistry at the right price. If you are interested at a cutom ring, do your research first then make an appointment at Bryn Mawr. My ring was appraised for $ 1000 more than we paid with Scott. What we appreciated most was the down to earth and honest business. We never felt like he was trying to sell us anything, just trying to make our vision AND budget a reality. This is a vibe you will not get at big box jewelry stores. With our purchase we get free cleanings (yearly I believe) and free halo diamond replacements. We insured the ring. Again, this process is all about doing your research and supporting local business. We will definitely be purchasing our wedding bands from Bryn Mawr. THANK YOU!!!

My husband gave me a beautiful engagement ring that I loved. The problem is, we had to get a custom wedding band made. We searched around for a bit, weren’t excited about any place we found. Then we discovered Scott, which was conveniently right by our place. Scott quickly tightened the diamond (which no jewelry store would touch, and the place we bought it was going to charge us to do), and designed a band that completely looks like it goes with my engagement ring. We couldn’t be happier with the product!

My fiancé and I had a fantastic experience getting my engagement ring at Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company. We walked in with a smaller budget, and no experience with diamonds or having a ring designed. Britt was extremely helpful and friendly and explained everything to us. She guided us towards the best options in our budget and helped us design a beautiful ring. I already had a specific design in mind so she had me send her a picture of what I was looking for. The ring turned out perfect. It was exactly what we discussed and ended up being much more affordable than I had expected. We had time constraints as well and they had the ring finished in only a week. My fiancé and I are thrilled with the whole experience and can’t wait to go back for our bands. I literally just made a Unilocal profile to write this review, our experience was that fantastic. Talk about a nice professional and friendly jewelry store!!! I will pass the word around about this nice place. The owner (Scott) and his fiancé were so friendly in helping me get find my St Christopher medal a new silver chain and repairing the loop. My grandparents gave me the chain 40 years ago on my first communion. Sentimental!!! Thanks guys for being so helpful and friendly. Moving here from New Orleans it’s hard to find friendly good customer service these days.

My engagement and 20-​year anniversary rings had been sodered together and bent beyond repair over the years. Scott patiently worked with me to create a beautiful ring that used all my diamonds plus two more from another ring. Since there was not a «ready-​made» setting that would fit all the stones, he custom-​made my ring at a far lower price than two other stores where I received quotes. Other jewelry repairs were also completed in a timely manner.
Scott is a jeweler in the true sense, and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs personal jewelry service.

Scott is the best!
After finding Bryn Mawr Jewelry on Unilocal Scott helped my fiancé and I design our art deco style ring. Not only was Scot THE BEST, he was professional, personable, on time and communicated with us every step of the way. He is a true expert, but he will be patient with you and let you make up you mind on what you want.
We could not be happier with the ring. It is truly gorgeous and very personal. It was also nice to have Scott be such a part of the process.
My fiancé was in Milan at the time the ring was being created and Scott was awesome about the reveal of the final product. It made the experience all the more special.
If you have the chance pay them a visit, you wont regret it!
After returning for our wedding bands we also had the pleasure of working with Reginald. Just going to show, that everyone here is awesome. Still only great things to say.

Quality, trustworthy jewelers are about as hard to come by as quality, trustworthy used car dealerships– and that said, I’d buy a used car at Bryn Mawr Jewelry any day. Instead, though, I bought a necklace here, and had a vintage Omega men’s watch completely rebuilt. Both experiences were completely fantastic– and the prices for both (especially the watch) were aggressively competitive. Small, honest businesses like Bryn Mawr Jewelry are hard to come by– don’t miss out on an opportunity to do business here. You won’t regret it.

I stopped in Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company today to see if I could have a family heirloom watch cleaned. I’ve been here before but neglected to Unilocal them. Their Unilocal is overdue. Today, like the other time I was here, the employees were so helpful and friendly. They really seemed to take a personal interest in me as a customer. They took a look at my watch and let me know that the delicate bracelet-​like band couldn’t really be cleaned because it was a base metal with gold over it. They showed me an alternate band that would’ve looked beautiful with the watch face. The jeweler told me he’d have to alter the watch to accommodate the band, and it would cost about $ 125.00 dollars. Then he advised me to leave the watch as is. He didn’t sell me on how I should go ahead and spend the money, but he told me as a sentimental piece to leave it alone. Then he dismantled the face and cleaned it for me at no charge. When I have the budget to treat myself to something sparkly I’m heading right here!

My husband got my engagement ring designed here and had a great experience. Reggie and Scott provided solid and prompt customer service, including detailed CAD drawings of the ring and allowing K to look at the diamond options under the microscope. The ring shipped in a timely manner, and all the appraisal documents were provided as well.
Such a positive experience was had here that we decided to get our wedding rings made at Bryn Mawr Jewelry Company too. We walked in on a Saturday and worked with Reggie to explain the designs we wanted. Within a week, we had the CAD drawings to review, and within the month, the wedding rings were shipped out to us.
The one thing we wished was that the engravings on the inside of our rings had a clearer and sharper oomph to them. Overall, this place is definitely recommended! I’m very happy with my bling! And I get to come here on an annual basis to get my rings cleaned and the structural integrity checked out too.

I’m starting this review by saying I didn’t buy my engagement ring from Scott at Bryn Mawr, but I needed to write this 5 star review because of his exemplary customer service and pure honesty.
I started the process, like most people, looking at Unilocal for reviews– I made appointments with 7 of the top 10 on Unilocal for Chicago. What I found was a lot of fake honesty, aggressive sales techniques (not on initial visits, but on follow-​ups), and glossing over on details. Scott was one of the two that was honest, patient, and explained everything. A few words about his customer service– I work in the suburbs and was running very late (with traffic) to a late meeting with Scott. He kept the store open past closing to meet me and ended up staying half an hour late. He was also one of the two retailers to explain the Rapaport guide and pricing system. One of the biggest things he did for us, was to hold diamonds for way longer than normal (2.5 weeks) when we were deciding– this is virtually unheard of!
In the end, another store offered a few more band customization options than Bryn Mawr, and given my fiancée’s needs, that won over. Under any other circumstance, I would have gone with Scott, and will likely go to him for our wedding bands.

4.75 stars total after four years’ experiences here. Four for Scott as vintage wrist watch repair courier and guarantor and watch strap procurer. An additional star to 5 for my limited experience with his skill as a jewelry engraver and repairer. those being part of his main profession of creative jeweler. Drop a quarter star because often, no one from the shop has called when work has been completed though they have had all my numbers. Seemingly a quibble, though really an essential part of the service.
A couple years ago Scott did a handsome freehand engraving within the band of one of my treasured white gold signet rings, from a sketch I had created, and did a very good job. Both his artistry and skill with an etcher within a very small work area were and remain admirable. The engraving has stood the test of almost daily wearing without losing any of its sharpness and visual attractiveness. Every time I look at it and think about it, I am made happy. So, effectively, Scott’s work makes me happy several times a day, nearly every day of my life.
About a year ago Scott did a beautiful, seamless repair to a gold plated lug of a vintage Omega watch that is absolutely completely invisible. I know it is there and simply can not see it. That’s skill. That’s ability. To me he has proven himself as jeweler.
Other reviewers have affirmed that if I should ever need custom jewelry creation, Scott will be the first artisan I consult.

I purchased an engagement ring here and we were so happy with the product and service that we decided to go with them for the bands also.
BMJ ships and there is a small discount for paying in cash. I had the band from my first marriage, and BMJ bought it; basically subtracting the value of the old band from the engagement ring. Reginald took care of everything we purchased, and I was very happy with his instruction and service. I mentioned his instruction because any legitimate engagement ring jeweler should give their customer some education about what makes a good diamond, and what is possible with their budget. This is a no-​frills place with very good service and great products. They communicate well and are not pushy or evasive about price. They did not pressure me to go beyond my budget, which I felt was respectful and very professional.
There was a snafu with my band, which BMJ obtained from an outside contractor. It was not their fault, and they fixed the issue in a timely manner.
I went to about 5 or 6 other shops before deciding to go with BMJ, no regrets. I recommend them without reservation.

Let me tell you! This place is a rare gem. Pun intended! My fiancé and I worked with Scott for what seemed like almost a year. Which is great because he was so patient with diligently helping us find the right Gem for my fiancé’s engagement ring. Scott is such a nice guy and I have to admit I was nervous about going to this business because the store front looked so cute and vintage. I was worried that whomever owned that place would have a vintage state of mind, when it came to us being two women getting married. My qualms about the shop not being LGBT friendly we’re put at ease when Scott greeted us so kindly and was so welcoming. We first went in stating that we weren’t ready to buy at all (we had a long while to save) and Scott never once dismissed us or made us feel bad for taking so long to decide.
We were originally going to both get rings custom made, but I fell in love with a ring I saw in the shop. My fiancé’s ring had to go through a few sessions of viewing her cad design and Scott was ever so patient and kind when we realized that the cast had to be changed. He gave us such a reasonable price and the rings are beautiful! We originally bought just my fiancé’s ring and had to get back to saving for mine, but she was sneaky and ordered it without me knowing.
We will definitely be back for our wedding bands! Scott and his staff are the best!
