Get the catfish filet!!! It us so good. The chicken wings are descent too. Fries are okay. I like that you can get as much mild sauce as you want. I don’t like pumping it myself right at the door.

The food is good! I enjoy the chicken shrimp and fish, I’ve had a taco before and a gyro cheeseburger, all were not disappointing. For a quick meal at 3 am they definitely do the job since its 24 hours, so if you’re in the area and are hungry, stop thru. The seating area is a little bleh but I don’t recommend dining in anyway. It’s super secure in there, and I know it’s because of the(slightly and I mean slightly) rough area. The service is meh but not too much can be expected of a 24 hour chicken shack. I’m actually going as soon as I get off; I have a hankering for some chicken and shrimp with a bottle ful of lemon pepper!

Overall the food is okay. It’s just a quick fix until you find better. They are very slow when it comes to preparing your food. The cashiers are unprofessional no matter how hard they try. Sanitation could be better. Good thing I can say is, that there slushie lemonades are good

Want some fried chicken or fish in the middle of the night? Come here. And it’ll taste pretty decent too… but after you see the bill and get done eating, you’ll wonder why you’ve spent so much money when you could easily get the same quality(if not better) and faster service at any fast food spot thats open. Then again, I’m complaining about the price of 3AM chicken… #firstworldproblems. Meh.

It is simply a quick food place with tasty offers like fried fish and chicken, gyros etc. Great post party food with something for everyone, including salad and fruit bowls for the folks who desire that. I have been going here for 5 years. I usually order wings and a salad and a fruit bowl and split it between me and 2 others. The gyros are tasty and the burgers are good too. It is well lit, plenty of free parking. I recommend you order by phone so you can just walk in and get your food, Since they cook to order, you may have to stand around and watch tv for a while if you walk in. You can eat there but most folks get stuff to go.

I ordered an Angus cheeseburger combo. It took over 30 minutes to complete my order and only two people were in front of us. The burger honestly had no flavor. The fries were pretty good I did like them. What irritated me the most was a lot of people who came in after us got their food before us.

Terrible!!! I thought this would be a great place to grab a bite to eat… I was soooooo wrong. My son had a slice of pepperoni pizza it looked good but tasted like they put pizza sauce on the pizza box and added cheese… BAM!!! …YUCK!!! My baby loves pizza he left this on the table. I ordered a Gyro it was GROSS… the meat was over cooked and tuff and the pita… wait how do you mess up a pita… REALLY!!! it to was over cooked. Not enough tomatoes either. I must say the TZATZIKISAUCE was good… that’s the only reason I gave it one star… NEVERAGAIN!!!

Just got some tilapia. They didn’t give me ANY sauce. They didn’t give me bread or coleslaw. And everybody up there has an attitude problem. Ugh

I went to pick up a phone in order. Upon walking into to the lobby, I observed a customer complaining about a missing item from his order. The cashier immediately became defensive and gave the young man plenty of attitude. The condescending manner in which she spoke to him was almost unbearable. Ironically, the manager was right there during the ordeal. She argued with the customer about a small order of fries. Finally, she yelled at someone in the back for an order of fries and gave them to the customer as if she had just completed some altruistic endeavor. When I paid for my order, I attempted to ask if my extra sauce was in the bag. Before I could complete the question, the young lady was barking it’s in the bag. Not once while I was in this establishment did I notice any of the customers being given a modicum of respect or courtesy. I never heard the phrases thank you or have a good evening. Ironically the food is not bad, but the total lack of respect and courtesy for the customer is a deal breaker for me. We, as consumers, can no longer patronize establishments that believe they have done us a favor by taking our money. Rude rushed service must not be tolerated. I give this place my nick nack patty wack two thumbs down.

I ordered the catfish and was surprised that it had bones which wasn’t a bad thing. At least I knew it wasn’t the standard stuff. It was piping hot and the coleslaw was enough to cool down my mouth. It looked somewhat bland and it tasted ok but I prefer mine fresh looking with vibrant colors and less mayo or miracle whip. The fries were ok too, mine was a bit mushy at times but tastes ok.

This place is interesting because of how well protected it is, makes it seem like the area is really really rough. I mean human contact is virtually impossible here. There is glass bolted along the walls blocking you from the cashiers and they use a serving wheel to spin your food to you so that you can’t reach in. Even if you wanted to give your server a hand shake it is impossible. Don’t let this fool you though! The food is good! I got a $ 5 meal including a double crisp chicken sandwich with fries and a soda. The chicken was crisp and delicious with the hot sauce. The best part was that they use a type of lemon salt/pepper combination seasoning for their fries. Only bad thing is that this place is super slow. Incredibly slow actually considering what you are ordering, I was almost late for work because I chose to eat here.

I was dragged to the Nike Outlet nearby and after we finished shopping, this fried chicken smelled hit us as we walked out the door. We noticed Captain Hooks and stopped in. Their menu is extensive… and their prices very reasonable. We ordered the pick 3, catfish nuggets, shrimp, and buffalo wings and a banana pudding. Everything was great, especially the banana pudding, which was light and airy. However, the shrimp was a bit greasy.

When you live as far away as I do and are still taking the wife and kids all the way into the city for a meal like this you know it’s got to be GREAT! Today we had… Traditional Chicken Wings Spicy, maybe too spicy, Chicken Wings Chicken Tenders Medium Shrimp Jumbo Shrimp Catfish Filets Chicken Gizzards(cooked soft) French Fries Great Homemade Coleslaw I know what you’re thinking, but with 10 People and some Ginger Ale it’s never too much food! Captain Hooks on Cottage Grove keeps me driving 15 Miles into the city for fried food… YESIT’S THATGOOD!!! Service 5*‘s Cleanliness 5*‘s Pricing & Value 5*‘s

Captain Hooks has some of the best chicken in the world! I’ve NEVER has a bad batch and we go quite often(they called my husband ‘100 wings’ because he ordered a pan each week for his friends after they played basketball). I tend to stick with the chicken, fish, or shrimp; all are very delicious. Not a big fan of their burgers, but they’re not a burger joint. Their steak sandwiches are REALLY good, and the lemonades… TODIEFOR! The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is that the service can be somewhat lacking if it’s super busy or late at night.

Of all the Captain Hooks Fish and Chicken I have had lunch in, this one is by far my favorite. I actually watched the food channel during my lunch hour on two 46″ HD flat screen TVs in the re-built lobby. I am a fan of the lemon pepper and when it goes on catfish nuggets or tilapia, you better hold on to your seat. This Captain Hooks location knows how to treat their customers right. I’m talking generous portions people! I literally had enough for dinner that night. One thing by far is a must… their fresh squeezed lemonade. When I asked how fresh is this on the real? They showed me the box of empty lemons their employee was working on. So the answer is «DAILY»! Everyday its made fresh to order. There is no shortcuts at this location, impressive, clean and affordable!

This place is great because it’s open 24 hours daily, and you can get anything. They serve all Chicago fast food: shrimp, perch, Italian beef, hamburgers, hot dogs, really any sandwich, etc. But they’ve also got some more off-the-wall soul food like fried frogs legs. Another good reason to stop in is the South Side-style iced lemonades, from blueberry to watermelon(you know the stuff if you’ve been to any of the steak & lemonade spots around the city). And their sweet potato pie is fantastic. It’s not made in house, but don’t let that worry you – the confectionery that makes them on 95th St knows what it’s doing with those spices, and packages them with a cigarette-style warning about addiction. The downside, although I’ll have to give it credit for actually having seating, is that the seating area is dirty and unpleasant. And I like brightly lit, but there’s an upper bound… Take your food to go.

This a great restaurant place. I prefer to pick up my food and they have a great variety. Aside from fish and chicken, they also have burgers and good dessert.
