I got rid of my fat looser husband and to celebrate my new man and i bought a nicely priced bottle of Hennessey and cranberry. They have it all to make you forget about the lamest jerk in your life. Only con they close early. Cheers!!!

Nice neighborhood liquor store with better than average beer selection, acceptable wine choices(better than at Whole Whitepeople Foods) only slightly more expensive than big box liquor stores. Fair selection of grocery items, non-alcoholic beverages, friendly service, it’s in a good location for the BYOB restaurants nearby.

What a life saver! There was a misunderstanding on who was to purchase wine one night. I wasnt off till 830 from the west side. Luckily this great life saver was stocked and ready. Found a nice merlot under my budget from Washington, my home state. Thanks for saving the night guys!

First off, I absolutely LOVE that this place is dog friendly. That alone keeps me coming back time after time. Though it’s not the cheapest in town, the prices are definitely reasonable, none of the crazy markups you can sometimes see at these smaller places. The staff is great, and again, DOGFRIENDLY. They give my little bug a treat every time he comes in to help mommy buy wine. I love it.

Don’t let the lackluster curb appeal and the kids outside looking like fools with their pants on the ground keep you from walking in the door. Tommy is super friendly, the rest of the crew is helpful and remembers return customers and the liquor selection is awesome. I’d rate this higher than 5 stars but Unilocal won’t let me! Great wine selection, significantly better than Dominick’s and worth the extra block of walking(if you’re heading south on Broadway). Awesome beer selection, too. And my favorite? A growing selection of wheat and gluten free beers… this gluten free girl is VERY happy with that. Especially because they are stocking Green’s gluten-free, sulfite-free Tripel Blonde ale from Belgium — YUM! I mentioned Tommy earlier and he’s worth a mention again and not just because he is awesome. He’s totally receptive to suggested wines and beers and he can get them in the store within days of your request. My first experience was in searching for a Gruner-Veltliner. Within 3 days of my request, he had pulled in Grooner — a fab white from Austria. Stop by, say hi to Tommy and pick up a bottle(or 3) the next time you’re in the area.

This place looks like kind of a hole from the outside, but the inside has a REALLY great beer selection. AND a nice selection of TASTYTREATS. But seriously. They have some really great beers in here. If you are a beer snob like we are, you will probably like it in here. It’s a great little neighborhood shop. There can be some shifty people hanging outside it, though… several guys got in a fight out front, and one of their fists actually whiffed my face. An inch to the right and I would have had a black eye. ANYWAY. The beer selection is still good.

Great Liquor Store. Just can’t stand the garbage that hangs out in front.

Great location, friendly staff. They lose one star because of the mass of ignorant dudes always hanging out in front(not the store’s fault, but still very unpleasant) and another because the prices are a bit ridiculous. Overall they’re great in a pinch.

Solid neighborhood liquor store. Decent selection of beer, wine, and liquor, as well as snack foods and basic necessities. Cheap? Nah. Expensive? Nah. Very middle of the road. And they close at 11. That’s kind of lame. That often drives me to Dominick’s around the corner… well, that and cheaper prices. Sorry, independent retailer. But when I can, I shop here. They’re clean, friendly, and if you can pass the wannabe gangstas hanging out in front/by the Thorndale stop on any given night, it’s a perfectly acceptable neighborhood liquor store.

WOOOHOOOO! Castle’s has come through quite a few times, whether before or after a shift at work. There have been occasions where I’ll hop off the train and have the taste for a root beer and some pretzels. Where to? No, not Dominicks or Jewel, but Castle. Just last week, I got a call from a group of friends hoping to hang out at my place and we thought a couple of 12 packs would do us just right. If you are thinking I made my way to Castle, you are quite the context clue detective. lol The guys behind the counter are quite effective at handling the random rushes on Friday/Saturday nights and do so with a courteous touch. As Meghan B. noted, if there is Chicago baseball on television, you can bet it will be on the TV behind the counter. The selection isn’t going to make your head spin, but there are about ten to twelve beers and a fair section of wines and spirits. The fifth star could be attained if they institute a Frequent Buyer club, or something. Go ahead and pop in and check it out

Wow, Im rating a liquor store. PROS: I just realized on a bicycle I can do a round trip home and back in 10 min. Great beer selection because they have Half Acre! They also have a slew of other great beers and snacks. CONS: Prices are a little high. I dont like to pay more than $ 11 for a 6 pack… even a great 6 pack, but I will if need be. Stupid pricks loiter in this area. A steady flow of gang banger idiots come down from the train. Check out the selection and be happy. Avoid the idiots that made them install a flashing blue light on the corner.

haha I’m posting this mostly because I find it delightful that this place is on here. Come for beer, as the wine selection, while sizeable, isn’t too appealing. Beer selection is better, albeit a little more expensive, than Dominick’s around the corner. It’s really fun to come in while a Cubs game is on their little TV behind the counter. I love the guys that work here. Somehow it’s always just a pleasure to go in there. I always leave with a smile on my face.

Cleanest liquor shop in Edgewater. Very convenient. Sometimes I would get off the train at Thorndale just to stop by here so I didn’t get mauled by the pimps and thugs on Granville.
