First, I thought I wrote this review weeks ago. I have to say that when I first seen this location I really didn’t want to go in because of all the people that seemed to be hanging around the block not just in front of the restaurant. I’m glad I took a chance to and walked through the doors of Chan’s because it was worth finding this little gem. The first time I went I just got the Shrimp Egg Foo Young(yummy) lunch special which I believe was about 5.25 and it came with shrimp fried rice(good) and an egg roll(very good). After 3 o’clock they add a dollar to the lunch special and it still is a great value because you get a lot of food for the price. I slowly started tasting other items like the beef and broccoli(very good), shrimp and lobster sauce(ok), fried crab sticks(tasty especially when hot), orange chicken(good) and a few other items that I can’t remember the name but for the most part all very good. I really like that the food isn’t very greasy and it taste so fresh. I even had a chance to briefly speak with the owner who told me they had been there for years and watched as the neighborhood changed and the different stores that have come and gone but they were still standing. I can definitely see why because the food is very good and tasty. I also call in my order so that I can run in and out not that it takes a long time if you don’t do a phone order I just don’t like the elements on the block. I’m not saying they don’t get a lot of business because I believe they do but I know they would get more if so many people weren’t on the block. There are a lot of stores on this strip(block) as well so I know that is some of the reason for some of the traffic that seems to be constant fixture. They also do not take credit cards so make sure you bring cash if you decide to venture to this location. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed in my opinion. Enjoy!
