Chaos To Order

Chaos to order has helped me through a few organization projects. I always learn something from them. This time Karen helped me rethink my kitchen storage and we did it from the basement up! As a self employed person who works from home I need some new eyes on where I am putting things. It always feels rejuvenating, especially I the new year!

Chaos to Order just helped me complete the last of three moves in the past year! I honestly don’t know what I would have done without their services! All of the organizers we have worked with have been terrific! Barb practically moved in with us during the two previous moves earlier this year and has become a life-​long friend of the family. Kathy was great to work with while she packed my Dad’s things. Danelle and Cara were fantastic during our most recent move into our ‘forever home’! I cannot believe what we were able to accomplish in one week! They worked fast and efficiently and even stayed late a few nights to finish a project. It was a team effort in every sense of the word! I would not hesitate to recommend Chaos to Order’s services!”

Good company, easy to work with as far as scheduling. They came to my house, helped me clean up, organize a whole hutch area that I have in my living room just at the entrance to my house. Plus, she helped me with papers, and a system to organize them. Then we moved into the kitchen and worked on my cabinets, she gave me great tips and helped me get much more organized. Happy with the service.

I have lived in Chicago my entire life and I am a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due. I have worked with Chaos to Order for over a decade and have found them to be irreplaceable. The services they offer are top notch and you get more than your monies worth. They are not only a company that does their job well, but they could not be more professional, upbeat, helpful, honest and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. They always have the latest and greatest solutions to any organizational problems one might have. I have always worked with Viki and she is superb, honest, trustworthy and a pleasure to have in your home. I had purchased s Groupon for Chaos To Order and decided to use it for my Family Room which is always s mess… due to my own Chronic Health Issues I have somehow lost my organizational skills due to pain;(;(;(…Susan was wonderful… I can’t say enough about her willingness to help me… she was kind, patient, understanding of my need to have things repeated… I think that Chaos To Order Is A Great Concept… We are not becoming a paperless society that is for sure… and some people, like me, can’t deal with all the clutter;(;(;(, The downside of this service is their charges…$ 70 per hour… If you have an organizer, at your house for 4 Hours… You are going to pay almost $ 300… Not including a Tip! I worked in Banking For 22 Years… and as A Caregiver for 9 Years… The Highest Amount of money I charged was $ 17 an hour… And I did alot more than Caregiving… so $ 70 an hour seems much to high for organizing… just my opinion…

I have been very happy with Chaos to Order. Their organizer, Candice has turned my trash heap back into an office with very little embarrassment and a lot of positive energy.

I was pleasantly surprised by a job well done by Chaos to Order’s organizer Pam. I have to say, I was not super excited for my appointment because I knew there was a lot of work to be done. Also being in the city, we have very limited space and I didn’t see how things could get much better.
Then Pam arrived. Her take charge attitude and excited nature instantly lit me up and I was ready to get to work. She is very passionate about what she does and you can tell. We recently moved in to our new apartment and I was embarrassed to show her the closet that I wanted to tackle. She didn’t blink an eye and seemed excited about the challenge. The closet was a complete mess… FULL of stuff, including all of my son’s toys which I had been trying to organize for over a year. My ultimate goal was to get my son’s toy closet organized and that we did (in a little over an hour) and now there is a place for everything. He loves to go in and look through all of his toys (now that he can see them) and even helps me put them back, which is a big step for a 3 year old.
She also was very creative in helping me get a system set up in my living room for all of my son’s trains, some blankets, and for our coat closet. It was great to work with Pam. She was very friendly and professional and didn’t stop for a minute (helping make the most of my session). The whole experience was very enjoyable. I would consider myself a pretty organized person, but she helped me take my organization to a whole new level. Since she left, I went on to organize my freezer and started on my bedroom closet. I am so inspired by our work, that I want my whole house to be as nice and neat as my son’s closet :).

I have mixed reviews for Chaos to Order. I was very daring and chose a three session package, because I knew I had more than three hours worth of work to do to get my place in shape. I am an artist and a crafter and my place runneth over with supplies, paints, fabric, lots of fabric, and other stuff of my trade. The first day was great. My organizer showed up on time and immediately set to work organizing my kitchen. She suggested that I get rid of all of my plastic and paper bags. So, off they went to the grocery store for recycling – every last one of them. She had great suggestions for rearranging my art area. She gave me assignments for editing my fabric stash and a couple of storage items to shop for. I shopped, bought, and edited. By the time she came for our second session, I had tons of fabric, ready to donate to a local immigration organization, and my storage items were purchased. Some of her actions sort of mystified me – for instance, she organized my kitchen junk drawer and my drawer of plastic wrap and aluminum wrap type stuff simply by switching the contents from one drawer to the other, but – it didn’t bother me, and maybe there was some great reason why she did this that I didn’t understand, being the chaotic type. Okay. I went with it.
Anyway, second time. I think my chaos was sort of wearing on her. I’m not a hoarder by any means, but I do have a lot of stuff for a one bedroom apartment. I got rid of even more fabric while she was at my place, which is awesome. She wanted me to get rid of clothing. I have a very small closet, but she felt that all of my clothes should fit in my closet and in my dressers – even out of season clothes. In my life, and in my profession, that just ain’t gonna happen. She said that all of her clothes all fit in her closet and in her drawers. Apparently she doesn’t need dresses, business suits, and maybe she has absolutely no bulky sweaters. She didn’t like the fact that my very small folder bike was parked in front of the closet that I stash my fabric in, so she turned to my bookcases, figuring if I got rid of an entire five-​shelf bookcase full of books, I could park my bike there and have easy access to my fabric stash. The issue here is that, having my folder in front of the closet door never bothered me. It’s a bike. It’s on wheels. It rolls out of the way. No BFD. Getting rid of my books so I could park my folder became her obsession. She tried shame, pulling out a random title’ – «2001 Cross Stitch Designs???» she whined, «Really?»
I wasn’t drinking the KoolAid. «Yes. Really. I use that.» She put it back. She turned back to my folder, resting her hand on its seat as is she were patting a little lost child on the head. She then started telling me about her crafty little friend, who she was going to see later that day. This nine-year-old’s hero was Martha Stewart. The little girl had all of her ribbons organized according to color, and so forth and so on. A few seconds later my organizer turned to my Encycolpedia of Craft. «She would love these,» she said, gazing at them longingly. About that time, the woman from the immigrant organization showed up to take my fabric donation. My organizer gamely helped me carry down bin after bin of fabric, and I felt good about that. Then she dashed upstairs, grabbbed her stuff and left. I went back into my living room and realized that a lot of stuff from my closet was all over the place in the living room. I starte putting it away and, glancing at the clock, I realized my organizer had left about 35 minutes before her time was up. When I left feedback expressing some annoyance with the organizer, the manager of the outfit called me right back and was very apologetic. Turns out the organizer had thought she came an hour earlier than she actually did and thought she was working overtime. Easy enough mistake to make and I totally forgive that. I asked for another organizer for the next time anyway.
Then life intervened. My mom had an health crisis that will require ongoing care and I needed to move. I thought I had read something on the website about CtO helping people move. when the new organizer showed up, I set her to work packing my kitchen. She gamely started packing away. It turns out though, that they don’t actually offer packing service. They offer UNPACKING service. Bless her heart, this kid was really sweet and eager to please, but she didn’t know the first thing about packing dishware, small appliances, or anything kitchen related. the first thing she asked for were some plastic or paper bags – the ones the first organizer had told me to completely eradicate from my household. I won’t go into details because it’s not CtO’s fault. I didn’t remember the website right. They UNPACK, they don’t pack. I just wish she had said something, because that would have saved my having to unpack and repack everything she did.

Apparently they aren’t super organized, it was insane trying to book a session playing phone tag constantly. I finally got an appointment booked… the organizer no showed…30 minutes in I called… left a message… no one bothered to even call back.

I recently volunteered along with a church group to help a family who were over their head with a very cluttered home. There I encountered Chaos to Order, who was also involved. The level of professionalism from their crew was amazing… they were able to help this family sort, organize and generally improve their living situation. Kudos to Chaos to Order!

I thought that Chaos to Order had the best website out of the all of the professional organizer sites I looked at – If their site isn’t organized.then.hello…So my walk in closet was a disaster. I had overflow of boots, t shirts, I couldn’t see anything, things falling on my head, and this is after 5 years of trying to do it myself. Rachel from Chaos to Order came in and after showing me her grand plan, it lended itself to donating of 10 garbage bags of really bad capri pants, ugly snake print shoe boots and a myriad of H&M sweatshirts that have seen much better days. I cannot believe the difference it made in my mood when I went to get dressed the next morning for work. Everything has a home, and I actually have a cohesive plan for my other closets because of this re-​org. She made great suggestions for shelving and sweater storage for «homework». It was so worth the money. I highly recommend it for those of you who are clean but messy and get irritated with yourself. Rachel got down to business, and the three hours flew by. She never forced me to get rid of anything, I did it all on my own. If I wanted to keep everything then she would have found places for it, but I really wanted to purge anyways. Go for it!
