Cheng Hilary, DDS

I went to see dr Cheng without making an appointment because I woke up with swollen right side of the face and infected wisdom teeth. Dr Cheng saw me and asked me to get them removed ASAP. He is really kind, funny and caring. He was also willing to make a call to the orthodontists he knew to help me set up appointments faster and get a closer quote. He also gave me a lot of advice on taking care of my teeth. He is such a great doctor and I can tell he really cares about his patients.

Dr. Cheng and his staff are the most friendliest, compassionate and caring dental health providers in Chinatown and maybe all of Chicago. My 99 year old father developed a severe toothache and needed attention right away.
Dr. Cheng’s office was completely booked that day, but somehow they would squeeze him in that afternoon, although without an appointment the wait time could be long. After informing them of my dad’s age and general weak physical condition and they said not to worry and they would find a way to see him that morning. Dad’s caregiver gets him over there at 10 AM (I live 45 miles away) and his wait time was brief. After completing the emergency exam, the good doctor tells me by cellphone that the exposed part of Dad’s number 21 tooth broke off and the remaining portion laying below the gum line could be fractured and that number 22 might be fractured as well. He did not want to risk causing more damage and recommended Dad to see an oral surgeon for further evaluation and removal. Dr. Cheng then said he would not charge us for the exam and arranged for a top oral surgeon to see us that afternoon. All I can say is, «Wow, what a pleasant surprise!»
This was not our fist experience with Dr. Cheng. My dad had saw him years before for a new partial and he was treated then with the same friendliness and care that he received the other day. If you live in or near Chinatown and need a good dentist, go see Dr. Hillary Cheng!

I never actually made it in to see Hilary, so I am writing this review based on my experience trying to make an appointment. The receptionist is really incompetent. I had an appointment scheduled for this week. I called to confirm and was told she had canceled my appointment because she was missing something my insurance company (which she claims suddenly appeared after she canceld my appointment.) The next available is end of November. I ended up dropping Hilary as my doctor and choosing Pilsen Family Dental instead.

I am so surprised that no one has reviewed Hilary yet. He is he most awesome dentist that I have ever met. Not to say that I have not had other cool dentists before, but Hilary takes the cake.
He is always in a great mood. He always has the latest Chinatown Gossip. He does a great job on my chompers I alway feel prettier after I see him. He is kinda like a hairstylist in a dentist’s body.
I have been going to him for about 3 years and I only wish that I have met him sooner.
Some tips:
1. Cause he is so popular, the front office staff will sometimes book you with his brother (they share the practice), he is cool too so don’t worry.
2. the waiting area can get kinda crazy with people and the mags are sorta old, so bring the PSP
3. the office staff is not the greatest with English, so speak SLOWLY and enunciate.
I hope Hilary doesn’t read this and think that I have a crush on him.
