This shop is great. My laptop is getting long in the tooth and I have taken it into Chicago ComputerLand several times. They’re always friendly and provide quick diagnosis and service. Also appreciate their honesty in their assessments and lack of over-​promising. It’s a place I inherently trust at this point.

These guys did a great job at a reasonable price fixing my daughter’s laptop, which had suffered a hard fall. I highly recommend them.

Dropped off my 2006 IMB ThinkPad T60p for a cooling fan repair and they not only had the part in stock but were able to replace it within 4 hours. Now, the price for labor for such a quick task was a tad high (considering it is only a $ 10-​$ 20 part) but an acceptable offset for the speed to complete !!
I also called around to compare quotes. ComputerLand was in the price range but the time to perform the service was the clear differentiation.

These are definitely the go-​to folks for whatever ails your computer. Both my husband and I have dealt with them on several occasions with complete satisfaction. They get back to you with 24 hours to let you know what work is needed, their charges and approximately how long it will take to repair.
They even offer expedited service — although we’ve never had to take advantage of this offer because they have always been extremely prompt. For example, I took my laptop in for a suspected virus on Tuesday, got a call back within hours telling me it was in fact a virus that had infected 2400 files and it «would take some time to repair.» As Christmas was fast approaching, I didn’t care when I got it back. On Wednesday late afternoon, I got a call that it was ready to be picked up. Obviously, their definition of «some time» was different than mine. They were open on Christmas Eve, and I picked up my laptop — which is now as speedy as ever.

The worst experience is to be busy working and realize your computer is not on the same page. My Toshiba power connector was not working well. After weeks of wiggling the cord, it finally decided to reject it altogether. I scanned Unilocal for a quick, inexpensive option and came across Chicago ComputerLand. What a blessing. I dropped it off at 11am, called to get an assessment at 3pm and picked it up at 6pm. Staff was very knowledgeable, gave clear explanation for possible problems and solutions and gave me tips when I picked it up on how to avoid further damage and increase the life of my computer. They are very busy so you should just plan to call them for a status update. Great service and worth the cost.

Their repair job saved me from having to purchase a whole new screen for my laptop ($ 400 – 450.) Would definitely recommend.
If you don’t hear from them after 24 hours or so, be sure to call! They’ll have a status update for you.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars … couldn’t ask for better service from start to end! I was having issues with my Dell laptop from stripped screws to error messages about the hard-​drive among other things. Aldi and his team did an excellent job in communicating, trouble-​shooting, explaining what the issues are and the options. When one option did not work for me, due to the fact I do not have the software for my work computer, they looked into other solutions to fix the problem. Dropped off the laptop and was ready to be picked up the next day!
Top notch service, reasonably priced, fantastic hours, easy parking (there is 15 minute parking with hazard lights in front) … I would definitely refer anyone to Chicago ComputerLand in Lincoln Park. Keep up the awesome work!

I was so frustrated with my laptop that I was ready to throw it out. Instead, I brought it to Chicago Computerland. The guys explained to me that I really had a good computer and that I shouldn’t buy a brand new one. So, I spent about a 100 bucks to repair it and my computer works better than when I got it brand new.

Horrendous beyond belief — I don’t understand how this place has such great Unilocal reviews (which is why I brought my poor computer here). I created a Unilocal account specifically to review this place because I had such an awful experience.
I had spilled water on my Lenovo Yoga 2 back in March and a couple of keys on the keyboard stopped working. I continued using the computer on a daily basis until June, when I brought it to this place to get the keys fixed. I dropped it off and waited for a call about the problem. They didn’t call me so I ended up calling them after a few days. They told me they needed to replace the keyboard and it would cost around $ 150. I said fine.
About a week later I got a call from them saying the keyboard was repaired but now the screen was broken (?!). They blamed it on the water damage (which, remember, had taken place several months before, and the computer had been functioning just fine except for a few keys since then).
I was moving away from Chicago and didn’t have time for them to try to fix the now broken screen, so I ended up having to go pick up my laptop, which now had a functioning keyboard, but a completely black screen. To their credit, they did not charge me anything for this (returning my laptop in worse condition than when I dropped it off). They said they would email me the name of the part they thought was required to repair the screen so I could tell the next computer repair company. They never emailed me, so a few days later I emailed them to ask what the part was. Their response: «We lost your laptop info as the order was closed. Here is a link from Lenovo where you can fine the parts and part nr for them.» Completely useless.
So I finally brought my computer to a new repair place in Boston, and this is what the (competent) technician here emailed me about the situation: «I checked the yoga 2. Whoever used to fixed it did bad job. Missing screws and broken parts. Unprofessional. I believe the screen is also damaged while they take it apart. To fix it. I need to order the parts and will take 5 days. Total cost will be $ 390.»
So to sum up — I brought them a laptop with a few broken keys. They returned me a laptop with a broken screen and missing screws that costs $ 390 to repair.

I am now living in Florida and am so happy to know that when I need computer help that I can still have Aldi to come to the rescue, Aldi is so knowledgeable and fast at fixing computer that I can’t think of anyone else to whom I would want to work on my computer, Thank you Aldi.

Completely impressed with this place! The service was great, my laptop screen was fixed in no time, and the price was the cheapest I found in town.

I stripped a screw on my macbook and they got it out for free! It only took a bit but were very nice and fast! The people here seem very knowledgeable and will defenitely come back for all of my mac needs!

After reading the awesome reviews here, I went to fix my laptop screen. The process is so easy and quick. I got it fixed within 30 minute. They also told my why my screen cracked and how I should prevent it in the future.

I had my computer fixed there and had mixed experience. So at first they told me my computer was going to be done a few days. But when I called to check if it was ready it still was not ready. Finally when it was ready I went to pick it up. When I picked up my computer I realized they had cracked the casing. After going back and forth with one of the repair men he finally agreed to fix the casing they had damaged. When i got my computer back it worked great but the hastle is still in the back of my mind. They did I good job fixing the computer but make sure when you take it there that they sign off that there is no physical damage to begin with so if they do break it, they are responsible for fixing it.

They did right by me today. I recommend them.
Background: I dropped off a high-​end executive laptop, a Dell, seven years old but upgraded continuously and personally. I have an elite graduate academic and industry pedigree in computer science and am a patent lawyer for top echelon IT companies worldwide in the digital and electrical fields. I do my own wiring, plumbing and toilet cleaning at home — blah blah blah.
I had diagnosed my laptop problem already but kept my mouth shut at drop off with the company. What I needed was LCD backboard components — two capacitors and possibly a damaged controller. To order parts like capacitors via Amazon is dirt cheap and the order shows up at your doorstop, repair is easy if you own a high-​temp solderer and meter, but this occupies time. I needed data off the affected computer asap even if it meant a new LCD and money out.
Aldi presided over everything from drop off to testing, with me present, and got it done very professionally within 1.5 hours time. They adopted the safe route for them (and me) by popping in a new LCD instead of replacing components piecemeal. The replacement screen has resolution superior to the original one as a benefit. Fast. Reasonable price.
The time factor and service I received made it very worthwhile. These guys know their stuff, don’t doddle, use quality replacement components, and keep detailed records in case you return under warranty.
I value this company and give them the highest rating possible. Their business is not an easy one. Check them out if something digital breaks or you wish to upgrade, I believe you will be pleased with the results.

We’ve had our laptops repaired here on several occasions. They’ve always turned them around quickly and for a reasonable fee. Most recently my laptop was randomly shutting down. They found and removed some viruses for $ 90, which did improve the system performance but the problem persists. It’s a very intermittent problem so difficult to identify the cause. I brought it back in and they tested it for around 24 hours. I spent a ton of time with them on the phone and in person discussing the problem. We never figured out what the problem is but they told me how to monitor the situation and even made a recommendation for a new laptop. There was no charge for any of this.

Smooth drop off with an explanation of the issue. A quick call when the service tech discovered the issue and what was needed to fix. Fair and reasonable pricing, delivery of part took 1 week.

I returned from a recent business trip late on a Saturday evening to find my laptop wouldn’t power on whatsoever once I made it home. Fearing the worst, I looked for whoever I could find that would be open the next day (Sunday) to diagnose and repair this pending disaster ASAP. I found these guys on Unilocal and saw that they were in my neighborhood and actually open the following day so I decided to go to them first. I couldn’t have made a better decision.
When I dropped by shortly after they opened up, they explained their diagnostic processing and rates, which were more than reasonable. They reassured me that they felt like it was a simple power source issue but let me know they’d open it up, test it, and (hopefully) repair it no later than the following day. I couldn’t have been more relieved when they called me less than 24 hours later to let me know they fixed my power problem and my laptop was fine! I was thrilled to swing by later that day and pick it up, and I’d like to note that their repair fees were EXTREMELY fair and reasonable.
If you are having issues with your computer I can’t recommend Chicago Computerland enough. Professional, courteous, and highly efficient. Reasonably priced and open on Sundays. What more could you ask for?

When my MSI laptop fan broke, I looked up computer repair shops on Unilocal and chose this place after reading all of the reviews. I wasn’t disappointed! They were great about keeping me updated on the repair timeline and it works like new again, no problem.
I then decided why not bring in an old laptop that had been sitting under my bed since it died during undergrad, while I’m on this repair kick. Even though the data extraction turned out to be more pricey than I’d hope, they let me view all of the files they were able to retrieve and let ME decide if it was worth paying for. All I can say is, I don’t think geek squad would offer the same kind of deal. It took me a while to decide on whether or not I wanted to pay for the data but they were super nice and flexible about holding my files until I made my final decision and had time to stop by.
All in all great service, will be going back !

I recently purchased a new Dell processor, and needed help transferring my existing data. I brought everything in on Tuesday morning, and by that same evening ALDI called me saying that everything was complete, and ready for pickup.
He was EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, AND EFFICIENT.
I HIGHLY recommend Chicago Computer Land for fast, economical, & PROFESSIONAL computer work.
