History

Established in 2000.

Chronic pain is pain that lasts 3 – 6 months or longer. It is in the brain, and not at the point of injury, that the sensation of pain is registered. Uncontrolled pain may cause physical, psychological, and emotional effects. Consequently, these effects may negatively inpact personal and working relationships, as well as participation in community life, leading to social isolation, low self-esteem, interpersonal conflict, and work disruption.
