I like this dentist. No frills office, and inexpensive for those of us that do not have dental insurance. Quick and friendly. A little bit of a language barrier since English is the second language of both dr chin and his assistant.

Too bad can’t give 0 stars. A hack job looking to make as much money as possible off of his patients. While I understand dentistry is a business like any other, if he knows you have HMO coverage, he will cut corners and basically get you out of the door ASAP. I’ve had dental coverage my whole life and the average cleaning takes 30 minutes. I was out in 8 minutes. 8 minutes! He said«no cavities, good teeth, you done». Well, duh. That’s because I go to dentists who provide insight into what I can do to better to maintain my teeth. The worst part, there was nobody else waiting after me! I guess that was a sign this was a mistake coming to his location to begin with. Never again…

I found Dr. Chin online while looking for dentists close to my new apartment. After going there today, I have to say he was great! It is a really small office, just him and his secretary when I was there, and the great thing about that is that he did the cleaning himself. How many times have you been to the dentist and seen the doctor for about 45 seconds and had most of your work done by a hygienist who makes $ 9 an hour and probably got her«certificate» or whatever at night school? It can be such an impersonal factory. Nothing against hygienists, but wouldn’t you rather have the DDS himself doing the work for your $ 80? Also, having him around for the whole visit gave him more time to consider my particular bone loss problems we had talked about at the beginning of the visit, and he kept dropping information and new ideas throughout the cleaning. I left with a much greater understanding of my problem and I didn’t have to feel rushed and cram all my questions into a one-minute period. Dr. Chin is from Taiwan originally, but his English is very good and the extra time you get with him makes up for possibly having to ask him to clarify or rephrase something. Also, there was very little pain this time – almost none. The last time I went to the dentist, it was one of the most painful experiences I’ve EVER had. Granted, I deserved it because I hadn’t been to the dentist in, like, 5 years, but MAN it was bad. I plan to go back to this doctor and I highly recommend him. I had to try and be a little picky, so I only gave four stars for a couple reasons: while cleaning my teeth, a couple times he let the water from the water pick thingie splash out of my mouth and get on my face, and I’ve not had that happen before(MUCH preferable to pain, though). Also, he occasionally looked away from my mouth to see something his secretary pointed out but still kept his hands and the instruments moving and cleaning in my mouth. It was a little unnerving – I was like«eyes on the road, please!», but like I said, there was really no pain to speak of this time. Highly recommended.
