Clybourn approaches metal finishing as an art; a skill only perfected by experience. Many of our polishers have more than ten years of experience. All metal finishing here is done by hand. Hand polishing may be a «lost art» at many metal finishing companies, but its Clybourn’s most important service. For pieces that need special care, a fine touch, there is no substitute for the trained hands of a skilled craftsman.

In business since 1946, Clybourn’s reputation is built on a history of a dedication to quality. Every piece finished here is processed, controlled, and inspected individually. History

Established in 1946.

At Clybourn you will find more experienced hand polishers than at any other firm in the country: specialists in standard lathe polishing, plus experts in flexible shaft finishing. They know by sight, by feel, and by instinct exactly how to achieve the desired finish on any given metal — from the softest satin to the highest mirror sheen. Their expertise and the piece-​by-​piece quality inspection ensures each part meets the expectations established by the customer.

Clybourn’s hand polishers use several different methods to polish a part, selecting the exact abrasive and lubricant for each step of the process, then buffing or satin-​ing to the required finish.

Since both standard lathe and flexible shaft methods are used at Clybourn, no part is too complex or intricate to receive the special quality look that hand polishing and buffing provide.

Manager

Ted started at Clybourn Metal in late 2013 as a business analyst but has quickly moved on to become the operations and sales coordinator. Also, Ted has a longer history with Clybourn Metal, having worked here while he was in high school as a summer job. A veteran of the US Navy, Ted is thrilled to be back in Chicago.
