History

Established in 2010.

In the summer of 2010, we were planning our wedding, and as we shopped around talked about what we wanted it to be like, we settled on a number of projects that we wanted to do ourselves. So we made ourselves floor-length silk wedding dresses (one of which included a corset to wear underneath); designed our invitations, save-the-dates, thank yous, and a website to match; and even baked a three-tier/three-flavor wedding cake. Because, well, we’re crafty.

We had no idea it would be such a turning point for us. At and after the wedding, we received many compliments on our projects, and a couple of (what we thought were joking) questions along the line of, «So when are you opening your business?»

Since we loved the process of planning our wedding and working on all the different creative parts of it, we thought, hey, why not?

And so, here we are.

Meet the Business Owner

Cindy S. and Julia Z.

Business Owner

A little more about us: We both grew up in families that encouraged our creativity and tinkering. As kids, we built, sewed, painted, and crafted our way to adulthood, where we stumbled into theatre. We have experience building and painting sets, sewing costumes, and being the one who makes sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to be doing the way they are supposed to be doing it at the right time, and then fixing it when it goes wrong. (That’s stage management, if you’re wondering.) We met each other at an opening night party for a play in the spring of 2006 and fell madly in love. The rest, as they say, is history. We live in and love Rogers Park, where we hope to stay for the foreseeable future. We love cooking delicious meals, enjoying great wine, hanging out at the lakefront, and seeing live theatre when we aren’t working in it. We both hold down full-time jobs in addition to our fledgling business. For more about us, see our blog (linked on our website.)
