Croatian Cultural Center of Chicago

The place was nicer than what I expected. I came here for a Vietnamese concert (Quynh Vi, Andy Quach, and etc). The lighting for shows looks nice and the dance floor is spacious.
The music was so loud that my ears hurt. The club music that they played while the singers were taking a break was very good. I had a blast that night with 20 of my other friends.
As for liquor… way too pricey. I would pregame before you go. They don’t give you bottles, but they give you cups. A cup (Taco Bell’s large size) of Hennessy was $ 100. They did not fill the cups up all the way either.

I love our Croatian cultural Center, I wen there so many time and I enjoy to be with Croatian in so many way, from dancing, drinking and eating. Party in Hrvatski centar is always something special, weddings, holidays or concerts. There is, Croatian school, folk dance school, library, bar with pool table, soccer club, tamburica and so many more you can enjoy. This place is clean, spacious they have beautiful and modern kitchen, plates and silverware is nice and tastefully choose. Chef is very talented and good looking and her helpers is great. I do not really like these pictures of Croatian former politicians including the kings, bane, poglavnike. Picture of Croatian Town is OK but could be in more taste full frame. On the and of my rating i wish if everyone rating-​er keeping in mind this is place is Cultural canter not PUB or BAR only.

Croatian Cultural has undergone through some makeovers like their dining area renovations.
I remember the old days when they had a picture of poglavnik fuhrer ante pavelic with a map of the croatian borders engulfing bosnia. LOL ha ha
that has all disappeared now. thats good.
anyway the drink is cheap but the food a little costly. so you will always get yourself drunk. and there is a bus so you can ride home and pick up your car in the following morning.
you will encounter alot of people looking for side jobs like maintenance work and girls wanting to get out of there.

Not too bad for a concert venue. I came here for the first time to see Prljavo Kazaliste and while I am still not sure if it was worth the $ 55, or even would have been worth $ 45 for the whole experience, I had a decent time, yummy drinks, was able to get up to the front of the crowd and found parking. I couldn’t ask for much more than that.
Considering how many people they could host, the parking lot is small. It’s one of the drawbacks. But since most people don’t show up until the scheduled start time, you’ll be able to snag a spot if you show up about an hour early. Don’t fret — they have a full bar to pass the time.
The bar was a big disappointment. How can the CROATIAN cultural center not have a single CROATIAN imported beer? Someone thought they might have a single case of Karlovacko, but the bartenders said I couldn’t have it, because «If [I] have it then everyone else will want it.» Well, yea, because CROATIAN beer is awesome! So I was forced to go with cranberry vodka, which was served in a dinky cup the first time and then a huge one the second round. Both were $ 5. Still can’t figure that one out…
The banquet hall seems great for a wedding or large party. It’s elegant, but all of the historical/​locational pictures are a bit kitsch. You’ll understand if you’re Eastern European. They are nice, but overwhelming. And that is the reason I love it. We felt like we were at prom.

Croatians are extremely good at drinking, and the Cultural Center serves us lushes cheaply, quickly and happily.
Expect to see loads of Croatian men singing homeland anthems off-​key and swaying back and forth… this you’ll see at the beginning. If you make it to the end, you might witness two belligerents duking it out in the parking lot.
I haven’t been back since the smoking ban went into effect– eau de Marlboro Red was the only drawback, really. I’ll be back for the Velika Gospa after-​party. God, help me :)

Great for a wedding, futbol party, or concert. The center has been home to some of the best parties I’ve been to. If you have a chance try the Rizot, and stay for the pivo. After a few you may even start speaking Hrvati
