CTA – Fullerton

Clean for a city. Train information is electronically updated. Very pleased with a weeks worth of CTA versus Philly transit

I rode on the brown and red line. The service was excellent. The trains ran fast and were clean. This was my first time in Chicago, and had no trouble maneuvering through the train system.

The Fullerton CTA stop A-​OK in my book. Offering transfers between Red, Brown, and Purple lines it’s quite the busy hub. The station is relatively new compared to some of the other stops along the Red line.

This is the Fullerton Red Line stop in DePaul. I got on the train here a couple times. Most notably on my wedding day after a 12 mile run. A run as well as a early train ride too the loop can be very relaxing.

This stop is rather clean, lots of space, and it seems like thy have their act together. All and all, it meets your red and brown line needs.
Just in case you were wondering, there’s a Dunkin Donuts right by the entrance/​exit, which is definitely not a bad thing!

Well as far as CTA stations go, it’s one of the nicer ones as well as it should be since it’s one of the newer ones. Easy transfer to/​from the Red/​Purple and Brown lines. Also easy transfers to the Fullerton Bus and walking distance to a few food places and a grocery store.

I get a lot of crap from my girlfriend for reviewing CTA stops, but I still think it is important. Truth is, despite the fact that CTA regulates all stops, not all stops are created equal. As a rule, I never give less than three stars to a transit stop simply because they do what I need them to do… get me from somewhere to somewhere else.
The Fullerton stop is good. Lots of space, clean, and comfortable. It’s a good stop to transfer from Red to Brown or vice versa. All in all a very pleasant CTA experience.

This is a good station. I wish more of the stations were newer and kept up like this. Some TLC would benefit some of the older stations, so they felt safer like Fullerton does.

Another amazing L stop… not as eclectic as Belmont… more students than tattooed artists… but still a great stop

Fullerton Red Line station — I love that you feel safe at night. I love that there is a CTA employee there, even on a Sunday! It was cold and I wasn’t far from home. And your train came in 5 minutes. I love that there is so much near you. A Dominick’s. A Starbucks. Nice. I love that connecting bus lines stop right in front and will take me to my door! YOU ROCK!
Public transportation is cheaper, more green and relatively more efficient than automobile transport. It is also inconvenient at times and the clientele can be challenging.
But, you know what? I’ll take it ANY day over sitting on LA’s freeways or taking the buses and few trains there. Ya’ll are spoiled. There, I said it. Yeah, you Chicagoans … oughta try living in LA and getting around without a car. Yea, it can be done. But who the hell would want to? You think these trains area bad? At least you have them. I live in an area of the city where every day, I have so many options on how to get where I’m going, it’s like a game to figure out which is best. Often, I can just catch the first bus available out of 3 and get to my destination just that quick. Or I can take the train, the bus. The train or the bus.
I got so I hardly went anywhere in LA because of the traffic. I pretty much started staying in my neighborhood. Guess what that is? Isolating. Boring. But every time I got into my car to go somewhere, I’d get so aggravated, it just wasn’t worth it.
I love how you connect with other El trains. You’re so well designed! Thank you, again, for being so clean and well-​lit!

I was at this stop yesterday and although I always passed it by on the trains, the opportunity in which I had to do something in the area was well worth it! Not many CTA stations are this clean and beautiful. I was so impressed! It would make a great background setting for a Chicago postcard or any postcard for that matter.

As a DePaul University alum, I have seen the endless project that the Fullerton Station had become. I lost count on how many months the renovation took but I am truly happy to see that it’s finally complete. First off, they kept the original station house on the north-​side of Fullerton (for those who can remember, next to the now non-​existent Demon Dogs). The entrance is plenty spacious – as it should be for being the station used by the most CTA riders city-​wide! I am pleased that they finally installed the Train Tracker estimated train arrival screens – even though they should have not been those lame tickers with multiple mini-​lights that die out quickly. Hello! LED lights or flat screen TVs like the many of the other stations throughout the city would have been better. Also the credit card machines to purchase multi-​use pases is a plus. I am still trying to decide if this station was really worth tearing down the historic Hayes-​Healy Gymnasium on Wish Field, but who am I to say?! At least now we can see the soccer players practice while awaiting the next train…

Please, CTA, please install these «train tracker» signs on all other stores whenever you get the money to do it. I don’t know what DePaul did to get them, but we’d all appreciate them, perhaps especially so when we have to wait for the L on interstates (which I do regularly) and that kind of thing. Also, don’t make it an ad-​filled plasma screen like the one at 47^th. Okay, now I’m just kidding myself.

I have to hand it to the designer and builders of this station. It looks great. I guess it had to be if it was going to live up to the discriminating tastes of the Lincoln Park crowd and all the DePaul students.
However, I can’t give it more than 4-​stars due to the extended construction times. I started to question whether they were renovating an existing station or building a replica, to-​scale Taj Mahal.

New station is nice, people are friendly, trains tend to be on time. Not much more to say… ticket machines work

This one guy walked past me and whispered «I like your shirt.» I was clearly wearing a dress.
The red line, Howie, that I was transfering to showed up just as I was getting off the brown. I was so excited. When I’d take a shower at DePaul when visiting my friend, it felt like there was an earthquake each time a train passed. I’m a fan of all lines, but I’ve been most loyal to Brown. He’s handsome.

I met my fiancé one night at 230am at this stop. So its a pretty good place

I’m partial to Belmont for my Brown/​Red Line transitions because there are fewer extra stops, but my roommate seems to have a crush on this station. True story: she humped the «Fullerton» sign.
