Really good cupcakes really easy to miss because it is so small! Between the self park and laquinta suites. Good stuff we had chocolate on chocolate. If I had a critique it would be too small to have as much selection as a larger place. But what do you need other than chocolate?

I have had their cupcakes, all different kinds and flavors. They are so tasty and reasonably priced. The location is wonderful, I can call in an order and walk over to pick them up, not too far from where I work. The frosting is delicious.

I’m a bit of a cupcake connoisseur – I’m quite close with my friends Mandy B and Ms Sprinkles. The ladies that work at this place are so sweet and friendly, and you really feel like you’re supporting a local business. I have ordered a dozen minis on 2 separate occassions for guests coming over and they have WOWED! I cannot comment on the freshness of the baked goods or the cupcakes sitting there, but I know that I received my cupcakes freshly made and absolutley declicious. This place is way better than Sugar Bliss and on-par with Sweet Mandy Bs – the frosting tastes like the flavor of the cupcake(not general sugar frosting with coloring) and the cake itself is FANTASTIC. Red Velvet, Birthday, Chococlate Chocolate, White frosting with Chocolate… all of it was scarfed down with pleasure.

Was a great find during my time in Chicago for a class. I am glad I found it while I was out walking and could continue to walk! Yum! I’ll be back when in town again.

I’ve been here several times since my downgrade review and the service has been great! I can’t put my finger on what makes there cupcakes different, but they are. There very dense and each flavor tastes very different. I also enjoy the frosting and presentation. Keep it up!

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and I stopped in. In fact, I’m not even a huge cupcake person and I stopped in. I love how small and intimate the shop is pulling you in, like a warm, sugary hug. The selection isn’t huge but provides all of your cupcake needs. I saw the wee little carrot candy gently perched on top a picturesque carrot cake cupcake and knew that was the one. On the way back to my office I clutched the bag holding the single cupcake, shielding it against the unsafe elements. The first bite into my cupcake is always awkward since my jaws don’t unhinge like that of a python and I end up getting frosting all over everywhere. It was on the brink of being sickly sweet for me but for some reason it didn’t stop me. One big bite and I sadly looked at my cupcake and it was already half gone. I started my food hording thought process. Should I wrap it back up and enjoy the other half at home? Or should I just eat the damn thing and think about that one day last month where I worked out really hard so it kind of cancels out. The carrot cake was dense, with a very sweet cream cheese frosting. I did end up eating the whole thing.

I picked up four cupcakes today for after dinner desert and we were very disappointed. All four cupcakes were very dry and not very tasty. I only gave two stars because they were decorated great, but that only goes so far. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

Cupcake Counter is adorable and literally just that… a cupcake counter. It’s a small little place and easy to miss when walking by. Their counter is stocked with all sorts of cupcakes and a few baked goods. They also offer coffee. I’ve been here a few times now to pop in for cupcake to gift to a co-worker. They have so many delicious options is really hard to choose just one! Cupcake Counter offers a list of standard flavors that they always have, and then each day they have a surprise flavor as well. This last time I was in I chose a red velvet cupcake to give to my boss for her birthday. It was super cute — red velvet cake of course, vanilla frosting and sprinkles. For only 80 cents more they include a birthday candle and package the cupcake in a cute little gift box. Totally worth it if you’re planning to give this sweet treat to someone else! My only bugaboo — the cost. It was a little over $ 3 for the cupcake and while it’s really delicious, I think they should either be bigger or cost less.

Their gluten-free cupcakes are amazing. I just tried their macaroons today and the mango one is OUTSTANDING. Holy holy holy balls, everyone please try the macaroons.

Threw a Baby Shower for a colleague. She is allergic to egg and nuts, and the Cupcake Counter was able to make us some DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL Vegan cupcakes! I didn’t tell everyone at the party that they were vegan until later, and no one could even tell! The head baker was so accommodating and even put on some cute baby themed sugar decorations(boy, girl, and neutral colors). They have great vegan flavors: we got chocolate(with vegan icing dipped in vegan chocolate ganache) and chocolate raspberry(with vegan raspberry icing). The price was comparable to other bakeries like Magnolia and Sprinkles, and I didn’t have to feel like my money was going to a chain.

It was delicious. As in I meant to take one bite and somehow the entire cupcake ended up in my stomach.

Not much to say about this place. As a stand alone cupcake shop, I expected better. Tried the chocolate and red velvet cupcakes. They weren’t bad. But comparable to other places like sprinkles or Molly’s, it just doesn’t compare. I’ve had better cupcakes from Marianos.

The cupcakes here are awesome! They are my favorite out of many different cupcake places I have been to in the city. I wish I still worked in the area so I could stop in for a red velvet cupcake every once in a while! The only thing you should keep in mind is that they are very small so the earlier you go the better selection you will have. Everything is prepared fresh so when they are out they are out. I also love that they have gluten free cupcakes once a week!

I walked in around 1pm on a Thursday and most of the cupcakes were gone! I understand though since it is in a busy part of the Loop. Also, after trying a cupcake, I understand why even more. They did have a bunch of different flavors. They had an Oreo cupcake. It had Oreo frosting, half an Oreo on top and a Oreo baked on the bottom of the cupcake. I haven’t tasted frosting this good in a while. It was definitely wasn’t sitting on a grocery store stand for a long time. It tasted made right there. It’s a small place that can be accurately described as a hole in the wall. It’s literally between two garage openings, one for Self Park and another for La Quinta Inn. If you are in the area then you should drop in for a quick cupcake.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. I found it on a whem when I needed GF cupcakes for a work even. I called that day and she was making cookies and cream GF cupcakes. Yes if you are GF this is a Super Bowl win in the bakery department. Absolutely delicious. Non-gf’ers were eating them as well. While there I asked about other options. You see there are 9 of us in my family with Celiac… holidays are a blast. I digress… my mom’s bday was coming up and her favorite is german chocolate cake. She hasn’t had it in YEARS. The owner told me to contact her the week before the event and she would look into a recipe. I did just that last week. My brother, nephew and mom’s birthdays are all in August(yipee my bank account). My mom also decided to retire on her bday this year. All 4 are GF. I decided to get some cupcakes. I ordered a dozen German Chocolate with the(traditional) pecan and coconut frosting and a dozen vanilla, chocolate and cookies & cream. I transported them via train and car from the Loop to Rockford area and had no problems. She advised me to seal the boxes with saran wrap or place in plastic containers(glad, tupperware) overnight, don’t refrigerate. They were definitely crowd pleasers for all 6 of us at the event. They lasted until Monday(purchased/baked on Friday). My only«dislike» was the cost. They aren’t cheap but let’s be serious GF isn’t cheap. For 2 dozen and tip it was over $ 100.

The chocolate on chocolate cupcake was fabulous and the Oreo a close second. The frosting was light and melts on your tongue. I work very close by and have made numerous cupcake runs for last minute coworker celebrations. They have always had my back especially now with Crumbs closing nearby. My one complaint is a little more cupcake for my buck would be nice. I think they are a little small for their price. I do enjoy how small and cute this place is. The name cupcake counter couldn’t be more accurate… a counter is really all that fits!

The worst thing you can do is accidentally walk by this hole in the wall gem and not notice the beautiful cupcakes, incredible smell and fabulous guest service. Seriously gives More cupcakes a run for their money and you even get more for your money here. They do require an advanced order for the mini-cupcakes which is a little annoying but understandable when you see how tiny their storefront and kitchen is.

When I go out for a cupcake, I want something decadent and ridiculously sweet, something I definitely can’t make myself. This did not live up to that. I had the red velvet cupcake, and the cake itself was the right consistency, although the top had a little crust to it which I wasn’t a big fan of. The taste was nothing special. The icing tasted like it was Pillsbury cream cheese icing. Definitely fell short of hitting the spot.

I have been on a cupcake binge this month and my quest to try every single cupcake shop and truck in the area continued with a trip to the Cupcake Counter. This place is significant to me since it was my first introduction to cupcakes in the city. I stopped by after a great job interview, once again after I got the job and yesterday was my third trip to this cute little shop. I got the red velvet and overall, it was just OK. First of all, I wished that it could have been put in a box as opposed to a bag. There was a piece of paper provided, but nevertheless, the frosting got stuck to that and ruined its pretty presentation. I found the cake to be somewhat dry and lacking some of the cocoa flavor I know it should have. The frosting was good and made up for the dry cake. The sprinkles added a nice and simple touch. The shop is very cute and the worker who helped me was friendly. And, I love that they brew Intelligentsia coffee! Overall, I would come back sparingly since I prefer some of the other cupcake shops in the area.
