Established in 1997.

We began our business in 1997 as World Folk Music Company. We had an extensive rental program for guitars and violins and did all our repairs in house under the supervision of John Devens. In 2009 we closed our doors and began repairing instruments for several music stores. We specialize in violins, guitars, banjos, or just about any instrument that has strings, as well as bow re-​hairs.

Business Owner

John has been repairing instruments since 1997. He has worked on thousands of stringed instruments from banjos to violins. He began his repair shop on the south side of Chicago with the founding of his music store, World Folk Music Company. WFMC sold and rented instruments to over the 5,000 students who have gone through his school. John has worked out of his home shop in Chicago’s Southside Beverly neighborhood since his store was closed in 2009. One of the benefits of having an instrument repaired by John is that he does not put a time limit on your repair. «Our re-​pairs are finished when the customer is satisfied».
