Dr. Ahmed Farag, Board Certified Diagnostic Radiologist and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, is thrilled to be spearheading this new chapter in his professional career as President of Diagnostic Imaging Specialists of Chicago, P.C. A native of Montréal, Canada, Dr. Farag has lived and practiced in the Chicago, IL area since July of 2000.

Dr. Farag is a senior member of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, and member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiologic Society of North America, the North American Society of Cardiac Imaging, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Lake County Medical Society.

I am writing this review specifically on Dr Ahmed Farag as he has been my chief radiologist during all my visits to Diagnostic Imaging over the past 3 years. The office itself is calm, soothing and very well-​run. I have never waited more than a few minutes to be seen and the long-​time mammogram & ultrasound techs, Mary and Lisa, work very quickly. I had an issue with some micro-​calcifications (which could have become pre-​cancerous but, luckily, were not). Dr Farag was wonderful during his explanation of the initial mammogram results, and he wanted to order a biopsy, which he would perform himself in the office. This was a MUCH better experience that the one I’d had at the Lynn Sage Center at Northwestern (that place is a factory!) When the films were ready, Dr. Farag brought me into his office and carefully reviewed the results with me, as if I were a peer. His bedside manner is gentle, calm, and professional. I felt very safe in his hands. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Farag for all your radiology needs. (He also does bone scans)

The office is lovely. I appreciate that. The staff is curt, don’t love that, but, I can deal with it. Hang on to your checkbook. When a doctor stopped me to introduce himself and shake my hand… red flag. I have never seen a doctor at a mammogram appointment before. What had been a $ 250 covered 100% by insurance where I used to live, turned into a $ 700 charge, $ 200 charge for a «consultation» which was just for the handshake and introduction and a little chit chat (less than 3 minutes). No consulting involved. They sent a letter saying there were no problems. After they asked for and received copies of records and X-​rays from my last place, a different doctor called and said there may be a possible problem because of differences in the films. Now they want me to come in for another mammogram and ultrasound. They did an «ultrasound and vascular study“This time they billed my insurance for $ 1430. Now, my out of pocket is $ 266 out of pocket. If I hadn’t felt screwed by the «consultation» handshake, I might have bought it.

Kind, caring, personal service in a spa-​like setting. I love that I get my results with no wait — I saw the doctor right after the imaging was done. Because I go here every year, Dr. Farag reviews my yearly images and we compare them while we discuss any concerns. I truly don’t know of anywhere else to receive this level of personal attention and amazing technology. The office is lovely and very calming. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this place, doctor and staff. This is how imaging should be. One on one attention, no waiting and immediate results. They were extremely thorough and I felt I was in the best hands after my Mammo. Highly recommend.

Why would you go to a mammogram factory when Dr. Farag and Diagnostic Imaging is right the Mag Mile? You are a person at this practice, not a number. The office is small and beautiful with a spa-​like atmosphere. You are seen at your appointment time and when you are finished– don’t faint!- you actually meet with the doctor.
Dr. Farag is thorough, professional and happy to answer all questions. This isn’t some anonymous radiologist in a cave reading your films, he’s right there to order more pictures immediately if you need them. Yes, that’s right, they take any extra films needed right away. No nasty «We need more views but we can’t get you in for two weeks» drama.
It took me years to dump Sage and I now kick myself for not doing it a lot sooner.
I am NOT kidding, call Dr. Farag.

This makes 2nd time I’ve used them for my yearly exams. For me, these are usually quite nerve wracking. Both times, I’ve felt all staff are prompt, courteous and the doctors go over your results with you afterwards. I agree with the other reviews, you feel like they are professionals that really care here.

Was recommended to this practice years back after my mother and aunt both had been diagnosed with breast cancer. They are specialists. First rate service– you get results read with you that same appointment. They have all digital equipment. Best of all both Doctor Werber and Doctor Farag are approachable and practical. I think it is close to ten years that I have been using this practice and they get the highest recommendation from me.

I love this place. I don’t love getting a mammogram, but since I have to get one each year, I love that this is where I go to get the exam. I was very apprehensive to get my first mammogram in years. The people who work here — the receptionist, nurses, doctors, etc. — are professional, warm, calm, and caring. The space is quiet and zen-​like. The area where you change into a robe before the examination is like a spa locker room. I have always been called promptly at my appointment time or within 5 – 10 minutes of it. The exam itself doesn’t take long. The great thing is that the doctor sees you within 5 – 10 minutes after the exam with the results. This is so important so any anxiety is put to rest immediately about the results.

Getting a mammogram sucks, but the staff at Diagnostic Imaging Specialists have really succeeded in making my visits as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Everyone on staff is respectful, has a sense of humor, and treats me like a human being. Most importantly, the doctors look at my scans immediately and go over them with me, so I don’t have to wait for days being nervous about the results.

Who actually WANTS to go for a mammogram? We’ll, if you have to do it, might as well go to a place that’s inviting, calming, and efficient. The techs will welcome you right on time and get you through the pics with the least amount of discomfort. Dr. Farag will give you a review of your pics right there at the office before you leave. He does not talk down to you, but treats you like an equal member of your own health team. Highly recommend diagnostic imaging.
