Making Sense of Investing
History
Established in 1922.
Edward Jones got its start in 1922 when Edward D. Jones Sr. founded the firm that bears his name. Until the 1950s, Edward Jones was typical of most New York Stock Exchange firms having one main location. And by 1980, the firm developed these branch offices and the network had grown to 304 offices.
Douglas E. Hill, chief operating officer from 1998 through 2003 and managing partner in 2004 and 2005, continued the firm’s tradition of bringing personal investment services to an ever-increasing number of individual investors in communities across the country.
In 2006, Jim Weddle became only the fifth managing partner in the firm’s history. Weddle has spent his entire career at Edward Jones, beginning as an intern in 1976.
This office here in Roscoe Village opened January 1997 and Clarke has been managing it since November 2008. We now currently have a little over 15,000 offices all over the US and Canada.
