History

Established in 2000.

The concept of Fat Tommy’s started New Year’s Day 2000 when the owner’s new girlfriend asked him his hopes and dreams for the new millennium. He told her about a concept he had since college at U of I. His roommates would tease him about the care he took in making a hot dog. From the chopping of onions, cucumbers & tomatoes to topping it off with sport peppers, mustard, relish &celery salt. He told them he would someday own a hot dog stand. The girlfriend (who later became his wife) and he decided to have the best hot dog stand on the Southside of Chicago. They wanted to create memories for kids and parents like they had of Reds and Snyder’s (Jansen’s) and to serve quality food at a fair price. They hire only the best people and are determined to make their customers happy. 11 years later, they are still improving and will continue to raise the bar by delivering a tasty, memorable, casual, family friendly dining experience. Come on in, its a hard habit to break!
