Just did a 401k rollover to an IRA over the phone and Fidelity handled it fairly well. Their brokers however, are not very helpful. I wanted some investment advice on diversifying my portfolio and the broker said I didn’t have enough funds to properly diversify. He suggested I go home, do my own research and invest in individual companies on my own. In short: you don’t make enough money to be bothered with. He didn’t even give me his business card after giving me the line about calling if I need any advice. So sick of these 20 something Galt brokers with zero people skills.

Fidelity Investments has lobby level offices in the One North Lasalle building, which is undergoing a multi-​million dollar restoration. This Art Deco tower was designed by Vitzhum and Burns. Now dwarfed by modern skyscrapers, this was actually the tallest building in Chicago from 1930 to 1965. There is a prominent clock stationed at the corner. The folks at Fidelity have always been helpful with my accounts, and it suits me to deal with someone in person rather than over the phone.
