If you’re in the market for an engagement ring, wedding bands, or special occasion jewelry, do yourself a favor and go see Roy and Atalie at Finer Jewelry. They are honest, transparent, seasoned, innovative, and fantastic jewelers that are also great human beings. I looked online for an engagement ring, spoke to other jewelers and friends, yet nobody made me feel as comfortable and pressure free as the Finer Jewelry Team. They spent hours educating me on diamonds, metals, cuts, styles, ring economics, etc. without any selfish or hidden agenda. They helped me craft the perfect ring for my wife, and went the extra mile in finding the perfect diamond in their network of jeweler relationships as they didn’t originally have the diamond I ended up buying in stock until Natalie contacted about 20+ dealers. They even tried to tactfully talk me down from spending the money that I did on the ring, which no other jeweler I met would do. If the Royal Family in Great Britain trust Roy enough to craft their jewelry (true story), YOU can trust Atalie and Roy with your timeless piece. I can’t say enough about this team, and encourage you to work with them in designing and buying your jewelry.

This review is a little overdue, but I don’t want that to distract from the quality service my wife and I received at Finer Jewelry earlier this year. I was looking for a wedding band, in particular with a Celtic theme and after searching the Internet, I came across a reasonably priced one at Finer Jewelry. My wife and I ventured down to their store downtown (don’t let the constructing on Wabash stop you) and met with the staff there. Atalie, Moshe, Roy, Vera, and Randy were all extremely helpful and showed us the ring, however it was a little too large, but no problem; they recommended a sizer to make up the difference. In the meantime they looked at my wife’s wedding ring which she had been handed down from her mother. They recommended a cleaning and fixing a couple of the prongs, no hard sell, just good advice. We came back a week later to pick up the rings and both looked and felt great (my wife’s ring really sparkles now.) All the while the staff was pleasant, knowledge and fun to talk to. Hopefully I’ll never need another wedding band, but if you’re in the market, I would recommend Finer Jewelry for a visit.

I originally went in and talked with Vera and Roy to get ideas for an engagement ring. They both were wonderful… very easy to talk to with zero pressure. Roy actually gave me a jewelers loop and taught me how to inspect diamonds on my visit. About 4 months later I called Roy up to design an engagement ring. I live in Cleveland so I was unable to meet face to face this time. He suggested I email him some photo ideas, which I did. We went over budget and I let him run with a design. It came out perfect! My fiancé and I couldn’t be more pleased. Such a wonderful comforting experience. When we needed to get the ring resized, Atalie was great walking us through how to get the proper size and ship it back to them. I sent the ring back on a Wednesday evening and received it back on that Saturday morning. Super fast service. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an engagement ring or any custom jewelry! Great people!

It simply doesn’t get better. These guys are a class act, all the way and exemplify value. I won’t go anywhere else for any piece of jewelry ever, if it matters to me at all. They created a custom piece that was beyond my greatest expecations, while being kind and thoughtful all along the way. They trusted me and my vision while also providing expert and artistic counsel. I love this place and I love the people who work there.

Love Finer Jewelry! I was referred here by a coworker after having been to multiple other jewelers with no luck. Atalie and Roy were great and helped me find the perfect diamond for my wife. I know Roy likes to create his own jewelry, but I did request him to replicate a designer ring and he did it flawlessly! While it has a few of his own personal touches, the setting combined with the diamond are perfect. I had an issue trusting jewelers and lucky for me I found Finer! I would recommend them without hesitation to my friends and family!

My son asked my husband and me to go with him to pick out a diamond & setting for an engagement ring. I felt honored that our son relied upon my opinion as I was familiar with what to look for in a good quality diamond. We headed to Downtown Chicago Jewelers Row, of course. After visiting several places that were mentioned on Unilocal,we eventually wound up at Finer Jewelry. Something felt so right the minute we walked inside. Photos of people who had purchased rings there were displayed upon the walls. Our son was provided with a jeweler’s magnifier and was «taught» how to look at the diamonds for color & clarity. He knew the style he wanted, so a selection of the same shape was displayed for him. He was shown the differences in the brilliance of the diamonds. We were sharing stories of my son and his future fiancé, and our family. We then were shown different settings and found the perfect one. We asked about seeing different wedding bands that would complement the engagement ring. They had a nice selection, which will be a purchase in the near future. An email was received to let our son know the ring was ready for pickup. The engagement ring was ready within 2 weeks. When I saw it, it was just as we all had imagined it to be, but even better. Such a beautiful ring! My son was thrilled with the ring. If you want to be treated like «family» and want to get the best diamond ring, just go to Finer Jewelry. The people who work there are amazing.
This story has a very special ending. Our son proposed on a flight to California. His fiancé phoned us when they landed and told us that we all did a great job at choosing her special ring. She said it «fit like a glove.»

I went to Finer for an engagement ring, but I would absolutely recommend them for any time you want something that’s really special. Roy and Atalie will work with you every step of the way and treat you like a friend from start to finish. After multiple visits, Roy easily spent 3 hours with me on the day I designed the ring. Flipping through art books to find the perfect engraving patterns and asking me all kinds of questions to make sure everything was just right. Even after the ring was ordered, I got pictures and updates the whole way through the process.
These guys are about relationships. They love what they do and they are amazing at it. No pressure, no up-​selling, endless patience. They want to make something special as much as they want you to be happy with the result. We’re using them for our wedding rings now and I’m sure I’ll be a customer for a long time to come. After the experiences I’ve had with them I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend to design my custom engagement ring. Roy and Atalie are wonderful, beautiful people. They ask you questions to get an idea about your personality, lifestyle, and price point, which are all important aspects in designing a ring. They don’t pressure you to buy things that are out of your budget, and work SOO HARD to make the perfect piece for you. They are such hands-​on people and make you feel involved in the whole process. My ring, without a doubt, is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen in my entire life. It is so breathtaking, the stones just catch the light wonderfully and the ring is stunningly beautiful. Such a creative and unique design!
Not only do they work with you to create beautiful pieces, but they also educate you on the types of stones, metals, and other intricacies of gemology and jewelry-​making that are so crucial in making an important piece. It helps their customers better understand the love and work that goes into each item and also helps them care for their pieces appropriately.
Since purchasing my engagement ring, my fiancé and I have developed a great friendship with these folks. When you walk into the store you see a lot of great pieces but TONS of pictures on the wall. Those pictures signify each and every couple and family whose lives they’ve touched, and that speaks volumes to me. Their business is certainly about making great jewelry, but also about forming long-​lasting relationships with their customers. I can say with absolute certainty that my family and I will be working with Finer Jewelry for all of our jewelry needs. Oh, and did I mention that they are dog-​lovers?! Could these folks be any more perfect???

Where to begin?
My husband and I were looking for something SPECIAL to celebrate a significant anniversary. We had no idea where to go, who to talk to or even a 100% solid vision of what we wanted. After wandering around the downtown jewelers’ building we had glazed eyes and were exhausted!

The staff is wonderful! ATALIE and MOSHE were great in the store and always had a friendly greeting whenever we visited. VERA is a TOP notch GIA gemstone expert who KNOWS her stuff and searches for the perfect stones to make customers’ dream pieces POP! Then there is ROY who instinctively ‘just knew’ how to guide us down the path of obtaining the ‘perfect GOODIES’ for our collection!
We ended up custom designing two rings that are mouth watering! The process was such that we were involved from step one all the way to finished product and the staff kept us fully updated on the progress.
Roy listened to our thoughts and explained all our options (he also nudged us gently away from ideas that might compromise the integrity of the pieces — LISTEN TO HIM FOLKS! He is an expert and KNOWS what he is talking about!)! He had so many ideas that gave our imaginations permission to soar! He is a PERFECTIONIST and will not be happy until your piece is ‘just right’ for you!
The final rings FAR surpassed any and all expectations we had and the STONES were first class quality! We were able to pick the exact color we wanted and Finer DELIVERED!
The last surprise was that our rings came in UNDER the original quote — that was not something Finer ‘had’ to share but their integrity and honesty really came through. They offer insanely fabulous jewelry at an equally terrific price point! The delight we feel in looking at these pieces is even greater knowing that we put our own special thoughts into their creation. Also the creative touches by Roy make them even more fabulous — trust him and he will THRILL you!

If you want the creativity of a jewelry ‘genius’ as well as professional, honest staff and fantastic stones then don’t go anywhere else… we PROMISE, you WILL get what your heart’s desire is (and MORE) with Finer!

Buying an engagement ring is scary. Like «asking your significant others’ father for his blessing» kind of scary. For something that is supposed to be a token of your continued love and support for one another, the process of looking for an engagement ring can be overwhelming, confusing, and oddly impersonal.
But not at Finer.
I started my search the same way most other people do — Jared, Kay, Blue Nile, etc… — just to get my bearings. Then I went to Jeweler’s Row and to 5 South Wabash to see Finer Jewelry. I admit. I was a little skeptical going in, especially since I was used to seeing pristine glass cases filled with hundreds of rings. Instead I met Roy, who came out of the back with his apron and magnifiers on. A craftsman. An artist. I liked him immediately.
Roy and Atalie worked with me diligently, steered me clear of some common mistakes, and eventually got me feeling incredible about buying an engagement ring. It’s the difference of having something crafted vs. manufactured. And for declaring your love to someone, don’t you want something that says «I made this for you and this is the only one like it.»?
There’s a reason Finer Jewelry has a perfect 5-​star rating. They’re incredible. Go in and at least talk to Roy and Atalie. You’ll be glad you did.

I’m being really original by rating this place 5 stars, I know…
But in all honesty, Atalie, Moshe and Roy deserve all the five star ratings in the world. My fiancée and I set up an appointment to visit them, and rather than just show us a bunch of «cookie cutter» rings, they took the time to get to know us, our wants and our budget. With Atalie’s recommendations and listening to our feedback, we were able to find the PERFECT setting (which, knowing my fiancée’s indecisiveness from time-​to-​time, is a HUGE accomplishment — love you honey!).
I honestly believe that we got an incredible value — didn’t think that I was able to afford a platinum ring. Combined with my late grandma’s diamond, Finer Jewelry made a ring that will be a proud heirloom in our family well after we have passed.
Looking forward to working with them three months prior to our wedding (per Roy’s guidance … or rather insistance), when we have the bands made.

Finer Jewelry is amazing. We had my engagement ring, wedding band, and some diamond studs made here. Roy is an artist! He helped us design the perfect and unique engagement ring. He really went above and beyond expectations! It was a really fun process – they keep you posted along the way through CAD pictures and a wax model to make sure it is exactly how you want it. The diamonds and other stones are top notch and you know you are getting the best quality for the best price. We loved working with Atalie and the crew!

Atalie and all the staff were so helpful at every point of the process of designing my custom engagement ring. She had the best selection of sapphires and even showed me another persons design which resembled what I wanted. I had visited other jewellers along Jewelry Row and had time and time again left disillusioned by the process but when I walked through the door at Finer I knew from that day it was the right place!

Finer Jewelry is definitely the place to go for your customize engagement rings! I wanted a sapphire ring and Finer was the third or fourth place we went to. The store is cozy but we were greeted with enormous love and warmth! Atalie and Roy listened to me carefully about what I wanted and showed us stones they had. Roy even gave us some serious lecturing about aspects of sapphires that we need to learn! (Thanks Roy!) When I told them I wanted a different stone from what they had, Atalie told me that they can go purchase different stones at the annual precious stone/​jewelry industry expo in February and let me pick from there. They did an awesome job picking up beautiful stones and sending me specs & pictures of the stones for 3 days in a row! Without me paying any down payment! In the end, they brought back several stones that were absolutely gorgeous, and it took me hard time to narrow down to the one.
After we picked the stone, we worked on the design together, me, my fiancé and Roy. We brought pictures and discussed for a long time. It took us weeks to finally have a CAD design and then wax. I almost cried when I first saw the actual ring, no exaggeration at all. The design, the stone, the setting, everything was exactly what I wanted.
Not only will Finer give you what you want, their price is very reasonable, the communication is absolutely trouble free. We will definitely go to Finer again in the future for other jewelry needs. Tips, make sure you make appointments ahead, although there are few comments on Unilocal,this place is almost packed every time we went!

I recently inherited a gold ring with diamonds and rubies and a gold bracelet with the same gems from my late mother. The ring needed to be sized and the pieces had not been worn in about ten years so I thought they both could use a good cleaning. I was sent to Finer by my brother and sister in law who had an incredible experience with Finer buying their engagement and wedding rings. They sent me in and had me specifically ask for Roy.
I brought my goodies to Roy as he calls them and he was absolutely AMAZING! I am only 23 so I don’t know anything about jewelry at this level. Roy took the time to explain all of the options with my pieces as some repairs needed to be done and he let me know what each would cost, how it would look, and how long it would last in an honest way not pressuring me to do anything. Then he went through and taught me all about the pieces and how to identify things for the future. He gave me a whole tutorial and was so patient and thorough. Roy really knows what he’s talking about and is passionate about sharing it with you. When I picked by goodies up they looked absolutely stunning and Roy did an incredible job. I’m so appreciative of his work because I love to wear these special items from my Mom and I can because of Roy and Finer.
I have already begun recommending him to everyone because he really is the best. I will look no where else than Finer for my jewelry needs!!!

About 3 years ago I was looking for a local jeweler. I came across Finer Jewelry and the rest as they history. It took one meeting with great people at Finer and I was hooked. Three years ago, my fiancé got my engagement ring made here. I don’t know much about the process for making it (Roy took some sketches my fiancé made and did something beautiful with them) but I know when it came to the stone, Atalie talked through choices with my fiancé and helped us select a somewhat usual, but absolutely perfect for me stone. I went in again in June to start talking wedding rings and when they heard when we were getting married, Roy recommended the best time to come back to actually buy the rings based on when metal prices were likely to be lower.
Today, we went back and all the notes he’d taken on my ring were still there and perfect. My fiancé got to talk through his ring with them and despite not knowing what he wanted when we went in, really, I think he walked away with the absolutely best-​for-​him choice in the world.
I really can’t say enough good things about these folks — they are so easy to talk to and just plain nice when it comes to trying to figure out this stuff. Their work is stunning — just stunning. Everyone complements my ring. For a part of wedding planning that I honestly expected to be stressful just because I don’t know a lot about it, they made it so easy.

I cannot say enough good things about Finer Jewelry! My fiancé and I visited over a dozen jewelers over several months looking for the perfect sapphire for our engagement ring. Most of the loose stones shown to us by other jewelers, particularly on jeweler’s row, were of far less quality than what Atalie at Finer Jewelry showed us. Surprisingly, all of the other jewelers we visited had only a couple of sapphires in their inventory, so they would borrow sapphires from common suppliers which were highly variable in quality. Also, because these other jewelers would receive the sapphires only a day or two before meeting with us, they did not take the time to scrutinize and determine the quality of the stones. Finer Jewelry did not have a mixed-​bag of sapphires; rather, Atalie personally selected high quality sapphires for the store’s inventory.
Designing the ring was also a positive experience. Roy had many creative ideas which helped us in this process. Furthermore, we did not feel rushed at all in designing the ring. Finer Jewelry allowed us to take as much time as we needed. We had several meetings with them to work out the design of the ring. We were extremely satisfied with the finished product and were pleased by the reasonable price of the ring. Atalie really helped us stay within our budget!

As the bride-​to-​be, I am highly biased in the most delightful, material girl kind of way. My engagement ring was sparkling its way out of the box even in a dimly lit park in October. Classic and beautiful.
As for the service and artistry, I can comment firsthand. Roy was wonderful to work with when I went in for my ring to be refitted. He was fast and the ring sits perfectly now. I loved his zeal and style and look forward to selecting our bands there.

The engagement ring my fiancé designed with Roy at Finer Jewelry is even better than anything I could have imagined. The diamond and setting and beyond stunning, not to mention the one of a kind filigree. Atatlie and Roy acomplished all of our goals with the ring — I was most concerned with sparkle and shine whereas my fiancé wanted something GIA certified and high quailty. Best of both worlds!
