I give them three stars because They are super friendly and the ambiance of the place is great. The food… I had The Outlaw, a baked half chicken, with the Texas Rubbed dry rub. This was the smallest half chicken I have ever seen and while the dry rub was great, the chicken could not have even more dried out. It was exceedingly chewy and tough to the point the knife I had could not cut the meat. The baked beans were very good, excellent even. I imagine other things on the menu are tasty, but I would stay away from the baked chicken.

I had such high hopes for this place! Been looking for a good breakfast in Edison Park, and the menu on-line looked perfect. Went on a cold Sunday morning, but the restaurant had the fans going and the place was freezing. Everyone in the restaurant was eating with their coats on. Placed an order for banana pancakes and a breakfast/sausage sandwich, side of bacon. The pancakes were dry, and when we tried to put butter on them, they were bricks of ice. Breakfast sandwich tasted like the frozen Bob Evans you can get at Jewel. Waitress was the only good thing about this place. So disappointing, probably won’t try again, unless its for the live country music one night.

I’ve been visiting this location since it was a hole in the wall known as Nick’s, then it switched owners to a lounge and now a country bar. It has been a great addition to the Edison Park area. Now I can’t comment on the food as we’ve only been here for a girls night out. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. On most weekends there are country bands that perform. The ambiance is very festive, the party is always happening here. Now that the kitchen is open late, I have to make sure to try something off the menu.

It’s a great place to get drunk and dance without people judging your terrible dance moves

I went to catch up with my old boss(northwest dentistry, you should get dental work there), so we walked nearby to grab food. The place is big and very casual. It has a modern country vibe going on. The menu was a decent size and you also had options like build your own salad or taco. The service and food were great. This is a great local hangout spot and I would go back here when I’m in the area.

During our weekend jaunt to Chi-town, we ended up here. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a cool bar, with good food, good vibe, and live music. Not sure if they only do country, but the band on tap the night we were there was a good country bad. It was a good time. We ordered their sliders, wings, and fried pickles. These fried pickles were MASSIVE! It was so good! Parking is an issue — you have to search for street parking, but well worth it.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS Went to lunch today at the Firewater. First time in the place but I’ve passed by the joint many times and always thought that it was a small little eatery. I was kinda wrong. As the Donald would say… The place is HUGE ! It has a sense of being that kind of place where everybody knows your name. Kinda like«Cheers» for Chicagoans. Sat down to order but had to wait a long time for a waitress to bring a menu to the table. She finally arrived with a menu and a smile. I ordered a Ribeye steak sandwich with Cheddar cheese and bacon. The Anti-Bacon Cheddar cheese Hamburger. It took foreverrrrr for our food to be brought to the table. Finally some guy brought our food over to us and we never saw our waitress again until time to deliver the check. It would have been nice if she could have stopped by to check on our beverages. We needed refills. Lost a Star for that one babe. Nevertheless, the food was excellent and I will return as I live in the general area. Parking is difficult to find in this neighborhood however, so be aware. Overall, the food was good, the service slow, the prices reasonable. To be fair, the place was crowded and I only saw 2 waitresses. One more waitress and you might get one more Star, yes siree.

Finally! After numerous owners, someone got it right. Thank you! Good drinks, fantastic food — and lots of it, good atmosphere and good service. The only knock on this place is that it’s too popular. They have live music, but it’s always been too crowded to get in on the weekends. A good place for singles, couples, family and kids as well. I came for breakfast(Deuces Wild) and was extremely pleased. It’s not just the prices, but the quality of food that is so appreciated. Definitely a place to check out Edison Park.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E breakfast. They get everything right. I ordered the«Hombre Skillet» which consisted of sautéed potatoes, onions, mushrooms & green pepper. and an ample amount of unctuous braised short ribs of beef. To throw it over the top on the cholesterol scale, it is topped with perfectly melted cheddar cheese and two eggs any style you like.(So just do an extra hour of cardio this week, and stop guilting yourself !) Believe it or not this concoction is actually served in a cast iron skillet piping hot. So delicious. This is an Edison Park neighborhood watering hole/sports bar that has more widescreen TVs than Best Buy. Suffice it to say it’s not the place you want to go on your first date. Or maybe it is. Sandwiches burgers and even salads looked tremendous coming out of the kitchen. I’m back here in a minute.

We live in the neighborhood. The following are what my husband, children and I have enjoyed about Firewater: 1. The food has been plentiful in portions. 2. Always fresh. I have had the turkey sandwich with the avocado and mayo sauce on it. It was delicious We also have had the chicken tenders for my kids, skillets, pulled pork sandwich. All fresh and tasty. 3. Despite the name, «Saloon,» it really is a good family eating establishment during the daytime. I enjoy the breakfast there on the weekend. There are a lot of families in there on Sunday a.m. in particular. 4. Nice neighborhood vibe. 5. Clean. Always clean when we go in there. From the bathrooms to the tables, nice and clean. My friends and I meet here for our lunch spot. That will never change. You guys are great:) Thank you. Nellie K.

I have been to the Firewater Saloon exactly two times as of this review; each of those times, I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I found the food to be delicious and a good representation of the traditional American cooking that the Midwest so excels at – I am particularly found of the Biscuits and Gravy. (On side note, Firewater Saloon has some of the cleanest bathrooms for a bar that I have had the pleasure of using. +1 would use the toilets again.)

I love this bar/restaurant. The burger was excellent, the Jalapeño Cucumber Margarita Michaelene made was OUT of This World! The owner Jaimie was more than accommodating with our large group of gals and a good time was had by all! LOVELOVELOVE this place!

Went here for brunch on a Sunday the food was pretty good. The service was good. Hearty breakfasts with a spicy thick bloody Mary — good down home place with a country base.

Staff is super friendly and accommodating! Ask for Aly, she is the best! Huge liquor and beer selection, my favorite drink is their, «Juan and Only» cocktail. Menu wise you have so many options, their nachos are amazing, breakfast skillets are tasty, my favorite salad is the skirt steak salad. The creamy Caesar dressing is great.

I went in really expecting to love this place. The hostess was amazing and the ambiance is great. They had a live band playing country songs. But the most important part, the food, was lacking. Every single dish we had was bland. Even salt and pepper didn’t spice it up. We definitely won’t be back.

I am perplexed by reviewers complaining of poor service as that was not my experience when I met friends here for brunch last Sunday. Then again, I wasn’t expecting the service offered by Spiaggia as Firewater is a saloon, not a Michelin restaurant. The food was amazing – generous meat filled omelet for me, my friends had skillets which were also enormous. We had drinks-I had some sort of blueberry moonshine drink which was refreshing. My friend had the Bloody Mary which looked like a meal unto itself. Prices – remarkably low in my opinion. Ambience at brunch was open, airy, casual neighborhood place. Bathroom was impeccably clean. My review is based on my Sunday Brunch visit. This is a country western bar so I am sure it’s much different in the evening. I am interested in returning for that though

Been here a couple times. We usually sit at the bar and haven’t had any issues with service. They have a nice beer list and the Texas rubbed wings are excellent. We decided to sit at a table on a Sunday early afternoon… Big Mistake !! Perhaps it was an overwhelmed wait staff or managements inability to staff for a Sunday crowd. I shouldn’t have to feel bad for asking for a glass to go with my beer, then have to reach across the table to retrieve it after our waitress drops it off as if no one has ever dared to drink there beer as suggested by the beer manufacturers. Place gets 2 stars for there food, but I’m sure there are plenty of places that aren’t content with being in a great location.

My boyfriend is temporarily residing in Chicago for a few months while he launches a new company and I went out to visit him for the 4th of July weekend. Firewater Saloon is walking distance to their condo so he and his brother decided to take me there for lunch. It is a western themed restaurant which doubles as a nighttime bar with live bands. My first impression was decent. I thought the place was cute and we had a great outdoor table which provided shade as well as good people watching. The restaurant provides first come, first serve complimentary donuts and muffins as long as you are dining in. We were a bit late so we were only able to try the peanut butter donut hole and a chocolate muffin. The donut was okay, but the muffin was very chocolaty and tasty. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken fried steak to share and his brother got a sandwich. The chicken fried steak was extremely tasty and had enough gravy that it was not at all dry. I especially liked their house made strawberry jam which went great with my half of the English muffin. We had an Amazon Deal which was 50% off and still paid about $ 25, which is a little crazy for two meals and no drinks… My biggest complaint was the wait. We waited for nearly 40 minutes for our meals to arrive. Even on a busy day this would not be okay, but the fact that it was not at all busy aggravated us quite a bit. If service was quicker, it would have definitely been a higher star experience.

So everything about this place is awesome; however there is one complaint that made me give them 4 stars. First I will say all the good things about this place. There is a groupon for this place. 12 dollars for a 20 dollar value. So you are saving 8 bucks. Only Monday’s thru Friday’s. My waitress, Liz, was awesome. I am a wings kind of guy. I give their habernero wings a 7 out of 10. Finally the food is moderately priced. Even for the ribs. Good specials on drinks. Good music. On a Sunday we came here and it was quiet. Friday evenings it’s starts getting packed. Second, I will talk about the major complaint about this place. So we came on a Sunday and we had the second nearest table to the door. It was brutally cold. The next week we came with our friends on a Friday at 6 pm. My girlfriend just came off an illness and we just wanted to chill and relax and have dinner with friends with our groupon. The only table available was next to the door. That was brutal. Very brutal. The cold air that was coming in was painful when it’s sub 0 degree windchill. We left early and since it was cold my friends ended up going to another bar. Service was great and we told them, but there was not much they can do about the air. Our food was amazing though. Awesome beer special with 6 in a bucket for 15 dollars. Everything was perfect, but the cold air was coming in and many other people around us noticed it as well. I highly recommend that this place out in space heaters or something to block that cold air. It was brutal. Very brutal. Will I be coming back? Yup. Awesome place, but try to go away from that door as much as possible.
