Five Point Holistic Health

When I started having digestive issues, my doc wanted me to use otc medication. Didn’t work. Having tried acupuncture before, I called Five Point Holistic Health making an appointment with Ryan. I knew I was in good hands the moment I walked in. Ryan did a complete health history and asked questions about the digestive issue. Within 1 ½ weeks I was seeing major improvements from the acupuncture and herbs. Glad I called — everyone is great — very professional. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I initially came in for vertigo and in one session it was gone! I’ve been working with Celeste for a few weeks now and feel so much better! She is so patient and caring! I even take herbs now to supplement the accupuncture People have been getting sick around me and I feel just fine! It also just has such a warm inviting atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it enough! Love five point!

Everyone at five point is so cool! They’ve all made me feel so comfortable, and are clearly experts in their fields. Concerned about «community» acupuncture? Don’t be. It still feels completely personal, and I’ve felt the same relief with it as from individual sessions!

Ryan Palma is an excellent acupuncturist. I have never been to an acupuncturist before but wanted to try it out because I was not getting the kind of pain relief I was hoping for through massage and chiropractic. Ryan is very professional and friendly. He is extremely easy to talk with and you can tell that genuinely cares about you. He was even able to help me get relief from season allergy symptoms through the use of Chinese herbal supplements. I highly recommend seeing Ryan (or anyone at Five Points Holistic) for acupuncture and natural medicine.

Five Point is awesome! The space is clean and inviting, and everyone that works there is incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ve been going for a few months for structural bodywork with Nathan, and I can’t say enough positive things. Not only do I feel great after a session, but he also provides exercises I can do at home. It’s like massage meets physical therapy meets guided meditation.
They also offer acupuncture, cupping, and herbal consultations at very reasonable rates, and anyone you work with will be kind, attentive, and great at what they do. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

I first came to know of Five Points Holistic Health while at the Logan Square Farmer’s Market this past summer. It was there that I met Nathan and others on staff. They were very friendly and in the short time at their table, Nathan relieved some soreness I had in my hand through structural bodywork. Thank you! You were volunteering your time and I appreciated your attention.
Fast forward a few months later and in need of relief for my arm/​hand, I contacted FPHH to set up an initial appointment with Nathan. This process was seamless and appreciated that there are weekend and after work hours for appointments. The Logan Square/​Blue Line is about a seven-​ten minute walk away. There is also meter parking right in front of FPHH.
I have had Nathan for my first two body work sessions and he is truly wonderful. Nathan is knowledgeable, personable and genuinely cares about his craft and clients. He is very thorough and I like how he explains the techniques he is using while also providing additional exercises to complete in between sessions.
This is my first time having structural bodywork (outside of a traditional massage) and cannot imagine going back to a traditional massage.
If you are looking for a caring and knowledgeable staff in a relaxing environment, then look no further!

I have seen Nathan for structural bodywork a few times now and I could not recommend him more highly! I have had chronic pain and impaired motion in my hip for the last 15 years. Though the work is gentle, I have really noticed a difference. For the first time I have some relief from the chronic ache. He also makes sure to give some stretches or exercises so that the changes can build upon one another for sustained relief.

What a great find! And a short walk away from me. Does it get any better? NOPE.
If you are intimidated by acupuncture or worried about the cost, this is the place to go. First off, it’s all about the anticipation of the needles going in. Just a prick; shots are worse! So if you are having some aches or something is up, I highly encourage giving this a shot. Really changed my perspective on the body. I am sold and love it. I have been to other acupuncturists and I loved this place so much more. The feel, the vibe, the people, everything.
Everyone here is so friendly and informative. I came here after having some back issues related to tennis and driving. Also some general knee soreness. I met with Alex and went to her for about six weeks of treatment. She is so much fun to talk to and is great at teaching you all about what is going on. I learned so much about the body, and each time I left I felt incredible. I did some herbal treatments as well. I enjoyed that process and seeing the reactions my body had to that treatment.
The community aspect of it is awesome. It is totally cool being in a room with others. Once the needles are in, you zone out, so whatever! The price cannot be beat. Not sure if they are still doing the packages, but you can buy multiple treatments in advance and save some cash. It was so nice that they paired with one of my other favorite local businesses, Tula Yoga, and they gave members a free first visit. And I came a day after the window passed and they still gave it to me. So that was super nice and not expected! I have been recommending this place to my friends and I hope more people go!

I love Five Point and have been so thankful to work with Alex for the past 3 months. She is incredibly knowledgeable, but also delivers information in an approachable and understandable way.
Alex approached my healing with small dietary changes, Chinese herbs, moxi, and acupuncture-​I appreciate the different modes of treatment and have found some significant improvements in my health. I would highly recommend Alex and Five Point!

Five Point has about a million things going for it, but let me just give you the highlights:
— The atmosphere is so calm and friendly. Everyone who works there has an amazing smile and seems to really enjoy their work and working with each other. When I walk in, I feel like an old friend that everyone was hoping to see.
— I like to ask questions and really understand the whats and whys of my treatment, and Ryan Palma has been kind enough to spend as much time as he can answering every last one of them.
— The option to do either community or private treatment is so nice — when my back has been hurting badly, I can get a really intensive (and effective!) private treatment with cupping and acupuncture or bodywork, and when I just need maintenance, I can take the less expensive route and get (also effective!) community acupuncture.
— The combination of acupuncture and herbs has significantly changed the quality of my life over the past few months. For anyone who’s reading this who has never done acupuncture before and is wondering whether to give it a try, I say go for it.
— It’s a worker-​owned cooperative with a mission to support other local cooperatives and sustainable practices. Who doesn’t want to support that?

Wonderful place and people. I am personally working with Ryan, and his care is more holistic, personal and attentive than any health professional I’ve ever worked with. Coming here has given me a higher consciousness of what’s going on with my body, and what it feels like to actually feel «well.» I started out with a private session before moving to community, which I would recommend if you, like me, are new to acupuncture. I never thought acupuncture would be a part of my life, especially not a regular one, but I really do feel I’ve found the right treatment for me, as well as the right practitioner, which is proving to be a very powerful combination.

I have been a weekly patient here for the past few months seeing Ryan Palma. My initial reason for coming to this specific practice was the community hours. If you are willing to sit in a room where others are also receiving treatment the price is greatly reduced making acupuncture so much more accessible! I seriously think this is a WONDERFUL thing! (they do offer private sessions as well, of course)
That is why I went, but I stayed because they are really great! The staff is very knowledgable, kind, and professional. The rooms are clean and soothing. They listen and care, take time to explain things and are very approachable.
I went for specific health reasons but have found that, true to holistic medicine, even more than my initial concerns have been addressed. Not too shabby.
Simply put, they are awesome and you should definitely go. It will make you happy.

I have been a patient at Five Point for the past year, and I would highly recommend them to everyone, for all types of health issues. While they assuredly are talented acupuncturists, and I have had great acupuncture treatments here — for me the herbal therapies have been the most significant and life altering.
From quickly treating colds and infections, to managing my complicated metabolic syndrome (PCOS), their herbal prescriptions have really improved my health. They have even helped reduce anxiety and associated mental health symptoms with herbs. For me it is a great alternative to pharmaceuticals.
Leah, Ryan, Celeste, and Collin have put a lot of time, effort, positive energy, and collaborative thought into treating my chronic condition — and I am very grateful. I know I can walk in and see anyone at the clinic and get high quality treatment. It is obvious that this group cares deeply about their patients, and are passionate about their practice.
I have left so many doctors offices in my life feeling bad — like my concerns were unheard, and the visit was so rushed — this clinic is the antithesis to that — they really listen to you.
The clinic is clean, calm, and meditative — and their pricing is super affordable.
I have received many treatments in the community room, which are great — I am a pretty private person but feel totally comfortable and happy in the community room. But the private rooms are also awesome and it feels like a real treat to receive a private treatment.
I always feel restored, and just better — when I leave Five Point. My health is much improved thanks to their treatments, and I can not recommend enough that you give them a try — for ANY health issue. I am not one to write reviews, but they deserve some serious praise.

I’ve been going to Five Point for about 9 months now and it’s the best. The atmosphere is very calming and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I’ve gone for neck/​shoulder pain, congestion, pulled hamstring, acid reflux, and etc etc. The acupuncture works wonders with any problem I have and the herbs are the icing on the cake. The prices are great too! I highly recommend Five Point to everyone!

Five Point rocks on all levels. Prior to pursuing treatment here, I had never tried acupuncture – but call me hooked! I have been treated for a range of issues since the doors of Five Point first opened – from chronic allergies/​sinus infections to migraines to stress to chronic ankle issues – and seen marked improvement on all fronts.
My primary acupuncturist is Dinah (she listens to my issues, diagnoses my imbalance, detects things I had forgotten to mention, and provides answers to my questions about what we are needling today), but I have also benefitted from the expertise of Alex and Ryan, who are also consummate professionals. I love that I learn something new every week!
Don’t be afraid of community acupuncture; it is personal, semi-​private, and at no time have I felt uncomfortable. The atmosphere is peaceful and there is ample tea, ginger, and dark chocolate for the moments before or after treatment.
Each week brings new insights into myself and serves as a reminder of the need to pursue holistic health (pun intended).

I had chronic lower back pain for over two years and in December of 2014 it got so bad I couldn’t go to work. I was desperate: I have been to my doctor, three chiropractors, and two physical therapists that I wasted tons of money on. Finally tried acupuncture– with little hope… Well– it changed my life! This place is close to home & Celeste is great! They take time to cater to your specific needs, whereas some communal acupuncture places just stab and go. Celeste even special ordered smaller needles for me because I am a wimp:) I have tried cupping here as well as private and communal acupuncture, body work, moxa, and herbs. I love it and have literally referred all of my friends and co– workers here. They really care and, most importantly, acupuncture REALLY WORKS! I can move now and have never felt better. A million stars.

This place is a hidden gem! Been seeing Dinah for acupuncture, and Alex for herbs. They are both amazing. I suffer from sometimes crippling anxiety and they have made my life so much more peaceful. So affordable and worth every penny.

I started coming for neck and back pain due to my line of work. I was soon introduced to cupping which has changed my world forever!!! I think i drool every time i’m on the table. I broke my foot two years ago. A really nasty spiral fracture that required me to have surgery to reset the dislocation and have a plate and pins inserted to fortify the area. The break healed perfectly, but the trauma left some inflammation and scar tissue in place. As a marathon runner, this translated into the sensation of running on a bruise. Not unbearable pain but persistently annoying — and enough to change my gate for long distances. I’ve been going to Five Point Holistic Health since their grand opening in May, and after running 13 miles during a relay race and building miles at the beginning of marathon training, I’m pleased to report that I’m virtually pain free for the first time in 2 years.
The community style acupuncture did take a bit of getting used to, as there are several chairs in the same room, and there could be up to a dozen people getting acupuncture at the same time. BUT I can deal with that for the cost savings — it’s just $ 25 per session. Which makes regular appointments affordable for me.
The staff are all incredibly nice, and with the addition of white noise machines scattered throughout the space, it’s actually quite peaceful. They offer blankets, ear plugs and eye masks if you need them.
This is a welcome addition to the Logan Square neighborhood, and it’s worth traveling to if you aren’t in the neighborhood. There’s plenty of free parking on nearby side streets.
