Rosa J. always tries to make grocery-shopping interesting and fun by exploring places around the neighborhoods. Near the corner of Central and Wrightwood, Fresh Market Place was chosen one. I’ve been receiving the DM from here, and prices for fresh produce seem to be pretty legit. This is a typical mid-sized Hispanic grocery store that carries ingredients used for making Mexican and Latino cuisines. I’m SO not an expert of cooking, but stuff grows in the trees and on the grounds is what hubby and I consume daily. Therefore, I would say FMP’s strongest department is their agricultural products. If you’re fond of cheese, especially queso fresco, a decent variety of different types of cheese can also be found here. I was surprised that FMP hasn’t had many reviews on Unilocal.Honestly, I recommend those who live close by to check it out. It’s a neighborhood grocery store for residents’ convenience, so don’t travel ten(10) freakin’ miles because you will probably give this place one(1) or two(2) stars for wasting much of your precious time. FMP is also vehicle-friendly and provides sufficient parking. Otherwise, it’s accessible via CTA #85(Central) bus.

I have been to this store a few times. Hit or miss with products, still some decent values. On this last visit I told by the cashier they do not accept any type of coupons. New to me & i probably will be shopping else where…

Excellent service & food !!! Recommended to me by a Mexican friend. Catered from here for a ‘taco party’ of ~50 people(kids included). Ordered 15# each of Barbacoa(shredded beef) & Carnitas(pork), as well as a tray of red rice(included small amount of veggies & beans). Also picked up 25, 12pcks of corn tortillas(warm, as they are delivered fresh from bakery daily) for only $ 10 !! Along with red(VERY spicy) & green salsa(very mild but chunky w/avocados included). Everything was spectacular to say the least. Authentic. It was served to a mixed ethnicity crowd, and was a HIT even w/the kids! Prepared all the taco topping myself(onion, tomato, lettuce, cabbage, sour cream, cilantro, queso fresco crumbled, guac, limes– 15 for $ 1 there!). You could also order the guac, pico de gallo, etc if you like. The beef was nearly all gone but only ¼ of the pork, even though it was tasty. I would order less meat & less tortillas next time(unless you want alot of left overs). If you do order the beef, make sure you keep it warm unitl served(over flames/oven), otherwise fat congeals.

My Aunt recently gave me a very yummy marinade labeled Fresh Market. I had assumed that it came from this store. I was wrong. I did find that this store though small, has incredible prices and a great selection of ethnic groceries. Vegetables are cheap, but hit or miss… you really have to pick carefully. Meat and cold cuts, I would skip. Staples however are dirt cheap, I spent a total of $ 35 for 3 bags of food including organic milk. Cheap stuff! They have a small hot counter where you can order tacos, burritos, tamales, etc.
