Very friendly and well known for their ribs !! Love this place I feel young here especially during happy hour !

Extremely overpriced food, OK taste but nothing to spend $ 50 on per person. No difference between this and a regular $ 10 dine in. Service is horrible, people standing around doing nothing and they talk to you like you should be grateful for the door being unlocked.
Owner of the joint is great, but those employees especially the girls you have greeting people at the door really need to be replaced.

I’ve been going to this place for years and I always have a good time. Food is usually good but a little over priced. The service is hit or miss but they’re always busy so that’s understandable.

Really enjoyed the food as well as the service. Would most definitely go back again. Porkpalooza was fantastic. Sp may be off

Thank you George for a very welcoming, lively and lovely dinner. I will surely recommend all of friends and family to come to this fine restaurant. The stuffed mushrooms was delicious, along with with the kinda spicy made out of green tomato soup was very tasteful. I really have to say the ribs here was the best, I had ribs in other restaurants and I have to say Gale street Inn have a very delicious ribs.
My mother had the grilled salmon with asparagus and she loved it. We enjoyed the fine and rich atmosphere.
Our waiter name was Dave and he was very polite and gave a 100% of his attention. And he was like that to every of his customers. He’s a very great waiter.
I recommend anyone and everyone to come in to Gale Street Inn, and try out there ribs, very delicious and falls off the bone.

Love Jose’s service been there a couple of times and from all server’s the only one that remembers my husband and I is José he even remembers what we like. That’s amazing.

Chicago institution. Obviously we all know about the ribs. And boy are they good. George, the owner is a great guy. One of our go to places in the neighborhood.

The food was good and the service was, too. This is a great stop on the way home from O’Hare after a long flight. I enjoyed the ribs/​jambalaya combo and my wife had the ribs/​shrimp combo. The shrimp were bland but the ribs and jambalaya were amazing. We sat in the dining room which was a bit devoid of atmosphere but the friendly and prompt service more than made up for it. The desk staff also helped us stash our copious baggage until the Über driver picked us up.

Seems like a place that is going for the vibe of an upscale restaurant, but doesn’t quite make it. Service is excellent. The ribs were good, not amazing, but good. The menu (other than the ribs) was not terribly exciting. Our waiter was very attentive though.

Was there this evening for dinner for my buddies birthday. Haven’t been there in many years. The kitchen as always was FANTASTIC! potato skins, French onion soup and full slab (sorry it was lent but had to) Not crazy about the waitress, the bus boys were there to cover her thank GOD. I was a waiter and bartender in the past and can count on one hand the times I’ve tipped under 20%.
Another small complaint that really probably isn’t for the restaurant itself but for the customers that go there. CAN WE PLEASE DRESS UP LIKE ADULTS WHEN YOU GO HERE. The volleyball thirst, sweat pants and baseball hats on while your eating (different groups mind you) kinda ticked me off. Maybe a dress code should be stepped up.

I pass this place all the time when I go pay the cable bill, but I never thought of going in before.
When we got to the restaurant there was a half hour wait. The place was jam-​packed, some people left when the wait got up to an hour. I won’t go on a Saturday evening again. There were a lot of kids and noise.
It took about another half hour for the food to arrive, we had to ask for bread because we didn’t get offered any and at a certain point we were ready to get the table! Service was very good otherwise.
The food was good. I had the classic burger with the sweet potato fries. It was cooked well-​done like I asked, but it could have used some seasoning. A lot of places act like they never heard of seasoning. I also had the bread pudding and ice cream, which was tasty.

Came here randomly on a date. We choose it because it was close to the Metra and the El stop. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the establishment was and how packed it was on a Sunday night. Our waitress was really nice and answered all of our questions. The menu seemed like it was from a food chain restaurant. The food was good… I had a burger and he had a chicken sandwich… both good but I wouldn’t say the meal was memorable. This place is kinda out of the way for me so probably won’t be going back anytime soon.

Came here on Saturday for lunch. Started with the Fried calamari and potato skins with pulled pork. Potato skins were awesome! The sweetness from the pulled pork plus the cheesy awesomeness equals happy eating! The calamari on the other hand, not so good. Didn’t taste the freshest.
Onto entrees. I had a full slab of ribs with a side of au gratin potatoes. Ribs were fall off the bone, but they could use some work on the sauce. Also, more of a char on the outside to caramelize the sauce would do wonders. The potatoes, again cheesy and awesome. My dish came with salad, which was swimming in dressing. Not a big fan. My hubbies burger looked like it was a frozen patty.
Overall: Good service. Waitress was extremely nice and helpful. Food, OK. Room in the back could use a face lift.

I was looking through my old reviews and found this one and had to update it. This is now our place to go when we want to celebrate.
We even had our wedding at Gale Street Inn last year! Our family loved the food and we had outstanding service by the whole staff.

Ive been here before but was surprised that i hadnt made my review for my previous visit years ago, so im happy to recently come back here again for their awesome fall-​off-​the-​bone baby back ribs! They give complimentary fresh warm sliced loaf bread with butter which was yummy! i tried the Porkapalooza-​which includes pulled pork, jambalaya, some BBQ ribs, creamy coleslaw and choice of side (i tried sweet potato fries), and salad/​soup (i tried soup of the day-​cream of mushroom, which was really good)! Service was alright and i wish portion were bigger for prices…

Yep, The Gale Street Inn has an AWESOME neon sign. Making you feel like you might be stepping into the 1960’s. And, yes, this same sign indicates that the restaurant has Chicago’s finest: Ribs, Steaks and Seafood.
At this point, you might be wondering, why would someone, with so much Veggie Love, go into a joint like this??? Well, read on folks, read on…
I sat down at the table with some swell, non vegetarian friends. While glancing at the menu, I came across some items that looked splendid. The Veggie Potato Skins and House Salad, drew me in quickly.
Since I wasn’t doing any fried foods at the time, The Grilled Vegetable Portabella Sandwich was out. (Girl can’t eat a sandwich without fries… Duh?!)
It did look yummy though… With it’s roasted peppers, spinach, mozzarella, and chipolte crema on a ciabatta roll. Mhhhmm…
Then came the heavy hitters for all you non veg-​heads: Da Burgers, Da Surf, Da Turf and Da Ribs.

In super little print, at the bottom of the menu was what I thought, to be my savior for the night:

I was ALL ready to get a House Salad and Garlic Mashed Potatoes and call it a night and then… THIS happened…#PowPow
First thing I told the lovely server gal was, «Hey, I know I’m in steak joint but, I am indeed, a Vegetarian.» It was cute because her face got all lit up to tell me about something, not listed on the menu. …drum roll please… It was one of the BEST pasta dishes, I’ve ever had!
A HUGE bowl of colorful vegetables mixed in with a bit of multi-​colored fettuccine noodles. The vegetables we’re fresh and cooked perfectly. Carrots, Broccoli, Zucchini, Asparagus, and of course, I had to add fresh garlic to it… All in a simple, but tasty, olive oil sauce. Not too heavy, ALL PERFECT!
I kinda forgot to mention, one of the BEST House Salads… Since when does a steak joint put Kale anywhere on a menu?! The Gale Street Inn does! Spinach and Romaine lettuce, Kale, Cabbage and Carrots… Delish… Add some creamy garlic dressing and voila, perfection.
Ps: Don’t forget to get the fresh baked bread with some crazy GOOD honey butter-​ish stuff.
Side Note: Was introduced to the BEST Scotch, I’ve had. «Highland Park, Dark Origins.»

Rib Combo+Jambalaya+Tomatillo Soup+ Spinach with Lemon= Incredible.
I haven’t had such a satisfying meal in a while. The ribs were just perfect. Not too sweet, not too ketchupy, with a hint of smokiness; andddddd they fell off the bone. I don’t usually suck the bone dry, but the flavor was just too good. The tomatillo soup had great flavor and just enough heat, and a great crunch from the tortilla chips. I’ve never had fresh lemon with spinach before; clearly I’ve been missing out Yum! And the jambalaya was packed with shrimp, sausage, and chicken.
From the moment I entered the door I was welcomed by several staff members. They were very friendly and it made me feel they were happy to have my business.
The atmosphere was warm, the music was lively, and the bar had some nice choices. I also liked the Belgian glass my Stella was served in. Those little touches really enhanced the whole experience.

I really wished I could have rated this pub four stars but the bathroom. No, I didn’t find a dead body with the head submerged in the toilet. No freaking warm tap water. Hello? We’re not in the middle of July, it was 30’s outside.
That aside, it’s a very very great looking bar. Like I would’ve imagined the finest pubs in Ireland and Scotland plus the infamous American size. It’s huge! The bartender was pretty cool, my order and my check arrived pretty fast. You may think I got served fast because it wasn’t busy. Well. that hasn’t not always been an excuse for the other establishments I’ve been to. The staff attitude was OK, some customers may think of it as a little rough though.
As soon as I see they’ve fixed the warm/​hot water problem, I’m rating that pub four stars.

This place has the best ribs! The meat just falls right off the bone. The bbq sauce has the perfect amount of tangyness, not overpowering the other flavors. The bread and butter is amazing! I can eat that stuff all day!
It does get pretty busy around dinner time and on weekends and especially if there’s something going on at the Copernicus Center. Bf and I usually call in our order and take it togo. Love how this place has free parking and it’s only a 3 min drive from the bf’s place! Drooling as I’m signing off.

Came here on a Saturday night the wait time was about an hour long the place was packed but once seated it was definitely worth the wait.
Appetizers arrived promptly ordered potato skins and the buffalo spicy shrimp amazing to say the least!
I had the Rib and jambalaya rice combo And SWEET MOTHER OF GOD these ribs were the most tender and literally fell off the bone in one bite. The jamabalya a rice had shrimp chicken and sausage and it had a great flavor and a bit of a kick!
The place seems reasonably priced can’t wait to make my way here again!
Best ribs EVER!
