This place was excellent! They were able to do my gender reveal party cupcakes. I placed the order on a Tuesday to have the cupcakes made, but filled the same day we did our gender reveal ultrasound. My Fiancé new the gender and called it in to get the cupcakes filled same day we picked them up.

I really wanted to love this place but it was such a HUGE disappointment. I’m in the military (I live out out of state) and was so happy I found this bakery on Unilocal.I was impressed with their cakes and felt they would be able to achieve the design I had in mine. This cake was a gift for my best friend’s daughter’s first birthday. When I asked to see the cake I was mortified. And quite frankly, ripped off. After calling the bakery, I was offered 25% off my next purchase as if I would ever go back. Victoria and I went back and forth over the phone. She stood by her product even though it looked like a Pinterest fail. The cake overall was tacky. Their penmanship was horrible and they stuck a happy birthday sign on it. She said they would only refund me the entire amount if they had returned the cake. It was a gift. It was picked up and taken to the party. My best friend was just appreciative and didn’t say anything but after paying $ 338, I had to. Victoria agreed to give me half but I had to have someone go in for me since she couldn’t refund my card. My advice to future customers: CHECK THE CAKE BEFORE YOU LEAVE!

I received a very unprofessional email from Victoria thanking me for my gracious review. Not sure how you can stand by such a subpar product especially with what was originally charged. Shame on you.

Stumbled upon these guys at the annual Donut Fest and I was disappointed by everyone there except this place. Wow that churro donut, SO GOOD. I voted them best at that session (even better than Stan’s and that’s saying something!) If their cakes are anything like their donuts, sign me up! The girls were also very friendly when we dropped by their table.

I ordered custom made cupcakes for a birthday just a day before I needed it. They were so accommodating, making my order on short notice. The cupcakes were a hit! They even put little happy birthday signs on each cupcake made of fondant I’m guessing, it was edible. The cupcakes were delicious! Sweet but not too sweet. Highly recommended!

Ordered the pecan pie for Thanksgiving & it was amazing! My family noted it was the best pecan pie they have ever had & asked me to bring a few for Christmas.

This was the first time I ordered a custom cake from GBD but it won’t be the last. They not only came through on a pinch but created an amazing cake for the baby shower I was hosting. I would highly recommend this bakery and look forward to trying other things.

Always something exciting baking at GBD! And I love the window display of sample cakes that they can make. They are very skilled in custom cakes; give them an idea for a cake for your next party and watch them tackle it effortlessly. Such a nice spot to stop in and grab a cupcake from. I’m not going to recommend my favorite because I’d really rather it be there next time I go. :)
Oh, and this is part of what I’ve been calling the «Walk Western» path — starting down at Challengers Comics (or coming off of the 606), hitting Margie’s/Quesadilla/The Art of Chicken/​Paladar for food, grabbing something sweet at GBD, hunting to get a piece of your childhood back at Toy de Jour, looking for oddities at Sideshow Gallery, and ending up at Logan Arcade. Great date day all in one stretch of Western that most people miss while doing the same old Milwaukee Ave stuff. All this while getting some exercise walking Western!

I ordered a baby shower cake from them and had a great experience. The cake was absolutely stunning and received rave reviews from everyone. Everything from the start to finish was very smooth. Victoria was extremely accommodating and open to all of our requests. My cake was in red velvet flavor and everyone said it tasted delicious as well along with looking extremely well made. Ordered cupcakes and a smash cake for my son’s 1^st birthday and they were super cute (even better than what I asked for!) and beyond delicious! Everyone at the party was asking where this bakery was. I highly recommend!

I ordered a cake first time from GBD Cakes for my friend’s bridal surprise party last week. I originally planned to order from Mariano’s, but depending on the store locations I was getting different responses and quotes so that I was worried I might not get the cake I really wanted. During my quick search, I found GBD Cakes in my neighborhood. It was 4 days before the surprise party, but Victoria was very understanding and helpful. Their website was not working for some reason, but I communicated with her via email & calls and exchanged the photos of my ideal cakes and flavor of cakes. I appreciated Victoria was easy-​going and positive despite the short turnaround time. The price was reasonable too. I did not get a final quote from Mariano’s, but if I ordered the same type of cake from them, it probably would have been more expensive.
I ordered a two-​tier square cake with two flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and vanilla cake with strawberry slices and whip cream. It was a huge hit at my party! All my friends were so impressed with the design and how tasty the cakes were. I was asked by many friends where I got the cake from! I wished there were more strawberries, but they only $ 5 extra, so if you want LOTS of strawberries, I’d specifically request it and ask for the additional costs.
I also was so glad GBD Cakes secured the two-​tier cake so well that I was not worried it would turn over during the transfer.
Thank you SO very much, GBD Cakes!!! I am already thinking about next occasion I can order a cake from you guys!

GBD Cakes and Sweets made a cake for our gender reveal party, and we couldn’t have been happier. The cake was beautiful and delicious. I called on Tuesday morning and they had the cake ready by Friday night without issue. My husband and I were very pleased. We’ll definitely be back!

I really wanted to like this place but in hindsight my waistline will be glad that it was just OK :(. I stopped I. today for a couple post dinner treats to bring to my grandma’s for dinner. While the décor and cleanliness were pleasing and the free smells were deceivingly delish but alas, I left disappointed. The chocolate chip cookies in the jars looked really tasty so I bought 3 and 2.5 of those ended up I’m the trash, sadly. The cookies were so stale and dry, inedible. I also got a couple of the Mexican powdered cookies that were also very stale and dry. Now to the reason I gave 2 stars, the cake balls (I think they were made and then frozen but even then pretty good.) we tried almost all the flavors and they were pretty much a hit, but then again, anything was better than the cookies. I hate to write negative reviews for neighborhood businesses bit I do it in hopes that they will take the comments people give as constructive criticism and make some changes.

My husband called several bakeries to put in a special order for my birthday and they either said it would take at least 7 – 10 days or they didn’t return his call. He spoke to GBD and they said they could make my Italian Rainbow cookie cake that day. Though it was unnecessary, we are both glad to know the turnaround could be quick. My husband picked up the cake a couple days later & it was not only gorgeous, it was DELICIOUS!!!

I ordered mini cupcakes from here, which were delicious and were a last minute order– which was great.
I guess I did not like how they were boxed. They fell over and it ruined the presentation. I would go back here again though, maybe just ask for better containers for what you order.

I had a fantastic experience with GBD, less one hiccup that they more than made up for.
I called GBD the morning of my girlfriend’s birthday party, and they were able to make a DELICIOUS strawberry shortcake-​style birthday cake with whipped frosting on the outside and sweet strawberry slices inside the moist fluffy cake. She absolutely loved it!
The one hiccup that I’ve alluded to was the timing of the cake being ready — I’d requested that the cake be ready for pickup at 5:30 PM, but due to some issue in the kitchen it wasn’t ready when I came by to get it.
But they went the extra mile and then some to make up for it — they offered to deliver the cake themselves (free of charge) to the location of the birthday party several blocks away. And they were extraordinary patient — I failed to notice them calling several times upon arrival, and they waited until I finally saw the missed calls and called to let them in.
All ended well and the cake was a huge hit! Thanks GBD for winning me major brownie points with my girlfiend!!!

This place is fantastic. Victoria took somewhat of a last minute order (3 days in advance) for a custom cake without a second thought. I had called at least 7 bakeries with most saying they just didn’t have enough time or the cake would cost $ 300!!! This was an 8″ round cake with a fondant louboutin shoe on the top (for the wife). They put vanilla cream cheese frosting in the cake and filling was red velvet, very tasty. The cake was ready at 8am the day I requested it and was more than I could have asked for.
For a very reasonable price and confidence that your custom cake will be a knockout I highly recommend the ladies at GBD!

Great place to get your custom cake order! I’ve been placing my cake orders with GBD since February 2014 and have not been let down on the quality, service, and price!
I usually have a specific custom cake in mind and always get the order I expect if not better! AND I’m always finding an excuse to be the one to bring a cake
Favorite cake flavor is hummingbird with cream cheese whip cream :-)

Here’s a delicious and beautiful new business that had already been successful from home! These bff’s have the right recipes for some awesome cupcakes, cookies etc. !

New bakery in my hood! This makes me very happy cause I don’t like to bake in the summer. Cupcakes, cheesecake slices, cookies. Yummy flavors, special orders. It’s all here! Staff is very friendly and outgoing. Place is on the smaller side, so to go was the way for me (I didn’t notice any seats anyway).
During the soft opening they offered a nice selection of goodies, we got butter (lunchroom) cookie, chocolate chip, and another chocolate cookie (don’t know the exact name since I just asked for one of each available flavor). Also, got italian cream, chocolate with salted dulce de leche and a carrot cake cupcakes.
Everything was delicious and I will be back probably more often than I should!
Prices were very, very reasonable. This place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood!
