Giordano’s

This is the place for your classic Chicago deep dish pizza. I personally prefer Lou Malati’s but this place is still decent. The pizza is right out of the oven but ours was a little undercooked at the center: the dough for the crust was a bit gooey. Also, their knives are VERY dull and it requires lots of effort to cut the pizza.
The service was nice but definitely the food and knives could be better.

Great Food, has become my go to place for pizza and chicken parm sandwiches. Must try!

First ever Chicago deep dish that was true to it name.

I would like to start this Review with a bit of History.
In the year 1974 Efren and Joseph Boglio opened the first
Giordano’s on Chicago’s South Side.
And, through out the years Giordano’s has been acclaimed with
the Title of Chicago’s Best Pizza by CBS Chicago, NBC,
The Today Show, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Tribune to
name a few.
I will now name this portion of my Review Oops I did it again.
Ever since my Heart Attack in March I can honestly say that
my eating habits have become much more healthy.
I eat lotsa salad, and I’m sure the Nation’s Bunnies are not
happy at me cause I’m eating up a vast portion of their
lettuce supply.
But, Okay, every now and then I get cravings, and yes, unfortunately
Pizza is one of those cravings.
So, last night during one of my cravings I made a call into Giordano’s
in Rogers Park.
And, yes, I ordered a Stuffed Sausage and Roast Beef Pizza
with light cheese and light sauce.
And, Toasted Meat Ravioli.
And, upon arrival, our pizza was still steaming hot, and definitely
picture worthy if you’d take a peek at my pic!
Now, in all honesty, the Ravioli was a bit overdone around the edges
but after I dunked them in the marinara sauce they were tasty enough.
Giordano’s menu prices seem pretty comparable to the other
pizza places so I really can’t complain there.
However, they charged us a delivery fee of $ 4.05 nd they are only
like 6 blocks away!
So, props going out to Giordano’s for a pretty fine tasting
Stuffed Pizza.
Not so many props on the Ravioli.
And, that delivery fee, that really sucked!
Oh, and props to Britney Spears for Oops I did it again,
Hey, I may be 54 but I’m hip to Britney…
Gotta admit, I like residing in East Rogers Park.
And, I like Giordano’s…

I love their extra thin crust pizza and their stuffed. This review is mainly for the buffalo style wings appetizer. I get them well done aka fried hard. They are so fresh and of great quality. A perfect size in my opinion. They’re not jumbo which is what I love. The sauce is perfect. They are better than many places that I can think of off the top of my head that are known for wings. Just perfect! Add some pizza and… delish!

I went here the other day the pizza was absolutely amazing. When you take a bite… It’s like it melts in ur mouth. Get the stuffed pizza ! It’s to die for ! Also the margarita was awesome also !

No complaints about this place, the service, and food was great. I will definitely return in the future.

Decent pizza I don’t like the crust all the time I really should look into that sometimes when I order it doesn’t taste like its cooked all the way

Ahh Chicago Deep Dish. A good friend of mine always tells me that he doesn’t consider it pizza. I totally understand that idea, especially after growing up in New York City. With that in mind:
Firstly, the restaurant décor is your typical pizzeria restaurant. However, since this is a chain, it has a chainy Italian feel to it. It may not necessarily be best, but, it does the job.
Secondly, you’re talking to a die hard pizza fan. So, I’m going to be a little critic in this review.
I got a sausage deep dish, and honestly, the pie seemed a little dry, overall. I would say it was definitely filling because I ate three slices and I could barely walking out of the restaurant, but, it seemed A-​OK (just as my Unilocal star rating says).
Deep dish is an interesting concept, but, not exactly my favorite version of pizza. It is definitely filling though!

I always get the vegetarian deep dish pizza and I absolutely love the filling. It has just the right amount of vegetables to cheese. I have been to this location once, it is a small comfy location however I never stayed to eat at the location. The crust is thicker than most deep dishes I have eaten at but it works with the heavy filling. This pizza just melts in your mouth!

I was really surprised at the quality of the pizza sauce since this is a chain that is very popular. I ordered an extra thin crust pizza while a friend got a deep dish. Both of us found the sauce to be super water. Her way of enhancing it was dumping a bunch of pepper on it while I asked for ranch sauce. But to be fair, the extra thin crust was very crisp and thin though it wasn’t super light. Between this chain and Lou Malnati’s I would pick the latter. Or even if you’re in the area and looking for pizza, walk the extra block to JB Alberto’s.
I got their BBQ chicken wing appetizers which was tasty. The wings were fried and then smothered in BBQ sauce and it was definitely the highlight of my meal though a tad expensive as a $ 10 appetizer. But overall this place is a bit pricey for mediocre pizza.

Chicago is known for many things… one of these to deep dish pizza. If you travel to Chicago and do not indulge in this hallmark of the Chicago food scene, you have failed as a tourist.
We have eaten pizza at at least a dozen local pizza places in Chicagoland area (Mr. is from Chicago and insists on hitting up at least one of these places during each trip.) this lady visit, we returned to Giordano’s. We have, based in our extensive market research, decided this is the best example of Chicago deep dish pizza.
First, deep dish is NOT pan pizza. It’s deep dish, meaning a slice stands at at least 1.5 to 2 inches high. There is a lot of sauce. There are a lot of toppings. There is a lot of cheese. Whatever your toppings of choice may be, be prepared for a hearty slice of pizza.
I am a little sized woman and one piece is plenty. My Chicago guy (who grew up on it) can usually manage 2 – 3 pieces. I tell you this in case you are wondering if you should «order up a size.» We usually get the smallest size and ALWAYS end up taking at least 2 – 3 pieces home. It makes for awesome leftovers so no real harm is done.
Order up some beer, face the TV to watch whatever Chicago team is playing and enjoy all that makes Chicago great.

Things started off on the wrong foot for this location, but improved by the end of our experience. We have been in town for a week and planned to end the trip with a Chicago treat. Since we have Chicago style pizza places back in SF, I knew that I should place my order ahead to ensure that it would be ready for dinner. We had to drive up to Glenview before dinner, so we placed our order online at 4:30, ordering a stuffed pizza and a Cesar salad, for pick up at 6:30. We received the confirmation email that the order was received right away, but as we were in Glenview, we received another email at about 6:02 pm confirming our order again. Weird since I had placed it awhile ago. When we arrived at 6:28, my father went in to retrieve the pizza and was told that there had been a problem with the systems and our pizza wouldn’t be ready for 30 minutes. WHUT?
I went into the store and asked (kindly) for an explanation. They explained that the order went to corporate, but not to their store, and that they had just entered the order. That’s nice, but I’m hungry. I asked them what they could do to remedy the situation. Angel, offered to remove the price of the salad from my order. I countered that they also deliver the pizza, since we were now inconvenienced because of the error on their part. He agreed and said that my refund would be on my card in 2 – 3 days.
I’m happy to say that it was delivered promptly and was DELICIOUS! Great customer service and I appreciate them working to fix the mistake.

This has become my go-​to place. The salads are incredible. I always add a bit of salt and pepper to the dressings but once I do, they are dynamite.
The northside italian beef is amazing. It’s like a crusty little personal stuffed pizza, but packed with beef. Amazing with the au jus dip they give you, and ketchup. Real peasant food, but delicious.
Staff is mostly young pretty college women, which doesn’t hurt.

After going back to Giordano’s a couple more times, I have to increase my rating from 3 stars to 4. The problems of food not being ready in a reasonable time have not happened again, and I have tried a couple more of their pizzas, and everything has been delicious. Given that they are about 3 blocks from my house, Giordano’s is definitely my go-​to pizza place.

Waited a few days to write this review after our horrendous experience. We were visiting from out of town and had waited months for deep dish. We usually go to Gino’s East but didn’t feel like venturing downtown. So we ordered online from this location for delivery to my brothers place (less than a mile from the store) figuring it would be faster. We were quoted an hour — typical time for a deep dish. After 1.5 hours and no pizza, we called to check on the status. The worker apologized and said our pizza was on the way and would be there in 5 minutes. Half hour later, still no food. We called again and asked to speak to the manager. He only wanted to give us $ 15 back on a $ 55 order. The food arrived minutes later. No apology from the driver. Salad was warm and wilted. Pizza was cold and had to be heated for awhile in the oven. The manager then proceeded to argue about comping our meal and then after a few minutes said he could give us $ 50 credit on next order. Really, he’s arguing about $ 5 at this point? Needless to say, even with credit, would be hard pressed to order here again. Which is a shame, because the pizza was good even reheated.

I love this place!
The owner is really sweet and always wants to make sure everyone leaves happy and with full bellies.
All the servers are fantastic. I’ve had a few different servers everytime I’ve been there and they’re always super friendly!
The pizza!!! Stuffed is the way to go. Tastes amazing and it’s HUGE! The prices seem steep at first, then you see how much pizza you get and its totally worth every penny!
I recommend spinach and bacon on every stuffed pizza!

Wow what happened to this place? As you can see with my reviews, I hardly give two stars. I am a pretty positive person no matter how bad the other reviews are.
And Giordano’s is known to the locals as being overrated and mostly tourists like this pizza or Chicago transplants, but we still liked them despite the hate.
We have been going to this Giordano’s location for quite some time but we were going so many times that we had to chill out. Two years later and I am so disappointed. Pizza slices are small and not the usual huge pieces that you expect for deep dish pizza.
I wish I had a picture but we tried it one last time and the pizza was so flat that it was not a deep dish pizza at all, completely deflated dry crust. It was horrible. We are not one to throw food away so we ate it, and we called them to let them know we were completely not happy. They offered to make us a new one but we were not looking for a free hand out. The owner or manager looked strung out too when we told him in person about it and showed them the pizza.
Looks like Giordano’s is downsizing in quality and opening more locations instead which is bizarre. I should have been charged a thin crust pizza instead of deep dish. What a rip off.
We are switching to Lou Malnati’s. Bye bye Giordano’s.

The phone order staff needs work — the young, college-​aged male working the evening of ²⁄₂₇ told me he had ‘no clue’ about the price of our pizza and was dismissive when (politely) asked for an explanation of the tax — which he initially over-​charged.
Hint to management: the pizza is pretty well-​made, but it doesn’t serve itself.

Ordered a personal pepperoni pizza for pick up. $ 7.64 and 25 minutes later I had a steaming box of deliciousness. I stuffed my face with stuffed pizza and loved it. More please. Giordanos needs to move to the west coast.
